Time to sell up the football operation in my view. They’ve failed for a decade and a half.

The HBG/WA Wests Group has been a very efficiently run well directed organisation for decades.........spanning multiple venues properties as well as ownership of the WT and Magpies as well as providing grants to Balmain's juniors. They have been totally behind the Wests Tigers since inception including as a major backer.

The idea that HBG are a shitshow is ludicrous.

Questions re the fitness of HBG directors doesn't stack up when one considers the success of the group. Most directors have been there for years or decades and its experience enough.

The HBG have had very good stability re their management and directors.......and can't recall anything like this rupture.

Obviously, this is the manifestation of the petition/review process which sadly has finally bought the instability Ifeared. There may be questions from some at HBG as to whether the process of ceeding control of the WT is in the owners best interests.

Any benefits derived from the review process re the appointment of Richardson and the replacement of certain board members is quickly going into reverse as the HBG enters instability and we have lost David Gilbert as well as Rick Wayde, two very experienced administrators spanning decades after already having lost John Dorahy.

Yes. The Magpies & tigers have enjoyed consistent success under their watch.

The Board needs to stay in its own lane and let the expert (Richo) fix the football operation. It employed nuffies for years and for that, it too has shown itself to be incompetent.

I see there is confusion when reading my comments regards the two boards but I appreciate your negative comment regards my view.I'm saying that the HBG board have not run the Football JV ,this has been run by Wests Tigers board so any measure of mediocrity/ failures should lie at their feet,they are two separate boards.I agree that being the majority owner and main financial supporter of the Wests Tiger they rightly should have contol over how their funding is utilised if not why would they keep handing over money to keep the JV going.

Our Membership and sponsorship was the lowest in the NRL, these are areas that need to be fixed. I would probably stop with the sexist comments as well as I know plenty of women that know more about football than many men I know.

A good board is not seen or heard, except within the walls of the club. The GM is the mouthpiece of the organisation and should be the central point of contact for all aspects of the day to day running of the club. Obviously the coach plays an important supporting role.

They provide guidance, approve strategic plans and leave the execution of the plans to the GM. They perform a governance role; providing the checks and balances to ensure that we aren't in hot water with the NRL, HBG or the tax man. The roles can be competently performed by males or females with or without knowledge of the the game itself.

A high performing board on the other hand is well connected and will assist in bringing in $ (sponsorship) and the community for support. They will know their way around the corporate world and can speack to the right people to influence key decision makers (politicians, Mayors etc). The types we need don't necessesarily need to be footy heads but should have a passion for the club and the game.

The key factors aren't gender based, or any other discriminatory measure for that matter, they are along the lines of:

• Leadership,
• Integrity, and
• Moral Courage.

I would add that diversity across the board membership would be favourable so you could cover the broad spectrum of support required. I'm not talking DEI type diversity I'm talking about = political connection, community connection, NRL connection, business connection etc. Get that balance right and we are on the way. The skills matrix is a good start, getting an external recruitment agency to vet candidates is another.

Let the process run and see who it throws up - then it will be time to see if we remain a nepotistic organisation or have taken a bis step towards achieving our strategic goal of becomming a top NRL club.
