Well I’m just going off what he said, he said he has autonomy unless it’s a very significant contract, then he needs sign-off.

Why appoint the expert and then put shackles on him, that would be madness.
He’s there to advise the board when required and run the football operations, working within their set parameters.
Why do you think all this is going on currently with people wanting the board changed if you think they are insignificant?

Because there are obviously things above football that they can influence, in the case of say the Roosters board, they can influence governments, they can influence league HQ, they get themselves on rules committees etc etc.

Our board would be flat out influencing the result of a chook raffle.

My point stands though, players care about their pay going in, winning, and the environment around the club. Richo’s domain.

WTF are you on about? Lol
It’s perfectly simple…the football department answer to the board. The board usually answer to members/shareholders etc. Ours don’t.

As for the players, they want a stable employer who is going to set goals and achieve them. It’s no use Richo and Benji “selling the dream” if the board can’t make it happen because they are too pre occupied fighting over power

Richo is CEO of the Wests Tigers, not just the football department. The now mostly exiled Board have appointed him to run the club, he’s said openly and publicly he’s not interested in working for a club unless he has a certain level of autonomy.

I’m only repeating Richo’s words.

Football Boards are lucky to meet more than once a month, it was in the media that Julie was preventing ours from even meeting. Not sure what they’re achieving when they have been told not to meet, I suspect FA.

Richo answers to the board. it’s not that hard lol….
It’s not hard at all, Richo makes decisions in the best interests of the club and in most cases the board have no input at all. A recent major signing was made and only he,Benji and Betsey were across it. To keep it away from media. His words.

I’ll take his word over your say so.

They're not so worried about Liquor and Gaming.

Darcy is giving words of encouragement to the fans, grandstanding.

Can't just take someone's club and Balmainianise it.
Good governance is balmainianising it?! Man i wish that balmain had it. WT would be a powerhouse with the duel funding. But they made some horrendous decisions.

Honestly though, 1 owner i think sets us up better for success... taking a club? It's 25 years and most have embraced all pillars of WT. Ashfield is a very big one for our club. I used to be a member when I lived in Rozelle. .

The Magpies/Balmain thing is so god damn tiring... Why do you still think like this? Seriously, why?

Of course I can’t. But if fans stop showing up they don’t actually own anything. These 17 debenture owners seem to think they have rights to something that’s not actually theirs.
Yeah, boycott Luai and Galvin, and the most anticipated season we have had in years. That’ll show em.

Within the laws of the country and the club. But remember others may have different views or nuanced ones.

But entities don't have comply with all or any of what you advocate.

Remember, the first petition was accepted by the club.........they weren't under any obligation.
So you're saying without some sort of voting structure to instigate change, people have to resort to petitions? Well here it is. It's the only option available. They can do what they want, but it won't change the bad perception until something changes and the members get a voice.

It’s not that hard to understand…

The players have mentioned it, what did Brooks say “there’s always something going on”

If my workplace was in the paper every day, everyone I know would be at me on it - it would wear anyone down eventually…
They all say they don’t read it and don’t hear it, that’s bullshit!!

The club was founded as Wests Leagues.......it has a charter to the identity it's meant to project.......and the teams it's meant to support

How many of your petitioners are General members?

General members are the people who decide these things.
Doesn't appear to me at least, that general members decide too many things.

When you have an arrangement where 27,000 members get to vote in 2 board members while a hand full of geriatrics that by whatever means happen to have a $100 stake in the club vote in 5 board members.

To make things even more lop sided we have a situation where the 2 board members that were voted in by the 27,000 general members are dismissed from their positions.

Looks to me like the general members don't get to decide too much at all when it comes down to it.

Wayde is a good man.

And this place different from 15 years ago.

Being a good man doesn't necessarily mean he is a good director for a professional sports organisation.

He has been a wonderful servant for the Magpies, but he has also been part of the executive and board who has constantly been operating for the survival of Western Suburbs Magpies - from Lidcombe to Orana, from the ARL to the NRL. It's not unlike George Piggins at Souths - and Wayde and Co have had the backing of a strong Leagues club all this time.

You can't keep running things the same way. Once new ideas came to Souths, they improved. HBG are a closed system of philosophies, ideas, methods, etc. They only admit their own and for most of its existence, this perpetuated group think.

Junior, you need to get your head out of your backside, mate. You have no idea who my mates are! However, I can assure you I do not know Dennis Burgess, Julie Romero, or anyone involved with HBG.

My response to Joel was to point out to him that his analogy of HBG board members suffering from "Man Child Syndrome" was unethical for a psychology counsellor who used words: "A significant part of my professional life is talking about the “adult. ", to disparage current HBG Board members.

Run along back to your crib child.
Clearly you’re just heartbroken because your owners Julie and Dennis are going to be ousted soon.

How is it "our" leagues club when 20 people can split 2,000 bucks and make all the calls? Especially since many are connected in some way. Sounds like "ours" only refers to 18 people with -$100 in their pockets.
You're correct, it is "our" leagues club, with Wests Magpies having a 90% stake and Balmain a near useless 10%. So, when are people going to understand that and admit that is a fact.
