Tallyn Da Silva #270

Do you think thats an unfair position for him to take?
There comes a time when the young bull superceedes the old.
Beyond next season, Api is old.
He should take huge money to help out Mal over in Perth.
So do you just give up on Api being our starting nine next year because he is "old"? That is crazy, unless the young bull is outplaying the established veteran he stays where he is, if he thinks he is above the better playing veteran, and isn't and demands starting you piss him off to another club.

What does it matter whether he is ready now?
We will be extending them for season 2027 onwards.
Api remains No.1 until then.
This is where there could be miscommunication...

I think Talyn wants the jersey next year... That's what I'm reading into it..

Could be wrong

He wants to stay he just wants to be #1 hooker... A right he hasn't earnt yet... So on ya bike tds..
Isn't it our job to manage his expectations?

I understand if it's a one off, but it just keeps hapening again and again ... sick of it.

I know that players just see us as a stepping stone to better clubs or just to get a shot at NRL and use us as a way to showcase their skills.

The recruitment team needs to do a better job at find players with better motivation. You can't keep doing this.

Need to set an example and make him play out his contract. Let him whinge.

Read what I said. I feel like im talking to brick walls around here....
Api is our starting hooker in 2025. TDS is his understudy.
Api is our starting hooker in 2026. TDS is his understudy.
TDS is our starting hooker in 2027.
Thats the scenario.

I think a lot are thinking this..I havent seen him say that.
I believe he wants to be the man when his next contract for us commences in 2027 and resigning Api is a vote of no confidence in him.

Two schools of thought.
Tallyn may be looking to start either at another club or over Api due to money on offer.
Or
Due to lack of opportunity.
If he feels his ready then fair enough for him; I don’t think his timeline matches our timeline.

If it’s about money well the question is, is he looking to leave the Tigers because we won’t pay him a decent salary to be the understudy or are we willing to pay him a decent salary to stick around and bide his time.

I’m not sure which way Richo and Benji are thinking. I’d offer him a decent salary for beyond 27 as an incentive to stick around and fight to be the starter.

Who knows what has occured and what he / his management are thinking.

If it was me though I’d play the Pezet route.

Yes but isn't TDS pushing to be the starting hooker in 2026/27? Why should he be given this position, who is to say Api isn't still carving up in 2027 or that TDS has shat the bed in 26 and not improved? All hypotheticals, as I have stated I believe you pick the best players to start and unless TDS improves remarkably in the next 18 months he ain't in the same stratosphere as Api.

Haven't caught up with the thread yet, but those saying he's mates with Galvin.... most of our young players are. Are they all going?

I think it has more to do with Api and game time.

Hope we can keep him.

Yeah this is where we like to go into overdrive with our interpretations of the situation...

Guess we will soon find out...

Why do you and I only connect over players leaving mate?😅

By letting him talk to other clubs early, we have now made it about money and opportunity right now.
I dont think thats what he was saying at all when these negotiations begun.
What came out of his camp was "if you sign Api for season 2027 and beyond, Tallyn will likely go elsewhere."
That position is fair enough to me.

and Jonah Pezet.... all happy to bid their time ... it's not as if TDS is in his mid to late 20's... he'll be what 22-23 when API retires
But if the Cowboys want to pay $650K and he was my son I would tell him take it

And from a Tiger's point of view we need experience in the spine can not have 3 rookies and Luai running the show it's just bad timing

Makes me think that one of those scenarios has occured and the club and his management are looking to get on the front and get a deal that suits everyone.

The thing people are not seeing, or choosing not to is that his contract will be up. He’s not obligated to stay somewhere he doesn’t want to play second fiddle. He’s not putting down the club, he’s not putting down the coach. He just wants a prominent role when it comes to signing a new contract.

I trust Benji and Richo...
mmmm yes well that is where we diverge.
Benji has the buy in of the group apparently...I see individuals busting their arses for him but not a collective effort bar the Cronulla game. Love him as a man, as a player...not as a coach.
Richo started really strongly but this year is testing him and for mine he is showing signs of struggling. Im still onbaord with him but I have one eyebrow starting to raise...

Thats what everyone said when Galvin rejected us and Richo told the world what happened.
Didnt work out too well...

Ok well I think we leave the conjecture to the side as I dont think it is accurate at all based upon things Tallyn has said about learning his trade under Api.
If he thinks he'll be ready to rock by season 27, I agree with him. If they resign Api, they are telling him they do not agree. Id be looking elsewhere as well if that was the case.
Or maybe the club don’t rate TDS? I don’t at this moment but doesn’t mean he won’t come good in a couple years. The club has a tough decision to make. Anyways there’s a rumour going around that Knights want him on loan and in exchange we get KPP before June 30
