OFFICIAL Taylan "Tiny" May

The club (and Taylan for that matter), needs to see how Taylan reacts to the 'grind' of training 5 or 6 days a week for at least a few weeks to see if he is anywhere near ready mentally for the rigors of NRL. Give the guy some time before throwing him in to first grade. In my opinion, we are next to no chance of playing finals this year, but a fit and healthy Taylan May will certainly help us in the back end of the season to improve our position on the ladder to somewhere near the middle of the comp. That would be a realistic and reasonably satisfactory result for mine.

Look at his Penrith work, the fact that he is a Samoan international. That is an hyper-elite group of footballers, which some in our origin sides, would never even be considered for.

I’m dead serious about rushing him into the side.

Did you know your man Jordan Miller is an international?

High bar

Fair enough, thank you, but I’d rather a willing attempt at it now.

And I said earlier, I’d take Doogie out and put Taylan next to Star.

And for that, we’d get explosive speed, deft hands, steps, evasive running, strength, gaps, time, space and power and some competent d. A smattering of X factor too.

All those things Doogie wants to be, but simply can’t deliver. It’s not his fault either. I’m a Doogie fan but team first.

And also, maybe the key, his effort, composure and his experience with his panthera.

All these things combine to make the case for his early return.

He would be beyond amped to get an early opportunity. The chances of him letting us down are remote. He will have a swing or die trying. A lot at stake for him and us.

I believe the NRL, NSWRL and QRL has framework in place for players returning for serious injury or long periods out of the game to prepare a players body for contact.

I think the work that's involved is why Richo has called out that Taylan is at least a month away.
Mmm.

If it’s the rules stopping him, well then that’s ok.

But not without trying for an exemption at least. See how we go.

If it’s a voluntary framework, I think we should invoke urgency and over-rule it.

Thinking about it, Taylan and/or his own doctors should the last say on whether or not he thinks he’s right.

I wouldn’t make this the go for every player, but I would make an exception for him in these unusual and pressing circumstances.

We are coming 13th, the season is getting away from us.

What do you know about his mental state? Or even the recommendations from his medical team about how he's to be reintroduced back into the pressure cooker of elite sport? Do you think he's been training at an NRL-level during rehabilitation?

Too many armchair coaches here make absolute statements about players and selections, but know jack shit about what's going on. Yeah, it's all under the guise of 'opinion'. You have the CEO stating he'll be several weeks before he plays a game, and that it will even be in lower grades! Nup, still have these armchair coaches defiant in what they think should happen.

There's some 'sh!t' opinion around here sometimes.

I hope the “trust the process” folk get the best seats for spoonbowl.

If anybody thinks we are playing good footy and a finals chance….

This side is underperforming. Things need to change.

I’m not raising a glass to celebrate last.

And people here can swear and be ugly, but it reflects very poorly on them.

May's status and the performance of the team are two separate issues.

You’ve made my point.

The team is underperforming in his absence.

We aren’t going to know if he can improve our fortunes unless he actually plays.

The evidence at the moment is that we aren’t achieving much when he’s not playing.

And as we know, there’s no healthy upwards diagonal line of improvement.

It’s a bit of a dogs breakfast.

And the negatives outweigh the positives.

So we need a circuit breaker and we should be honest, it’s not going to be Benji and co despite best efforts.

So a fresh gun back is a good heart starter.

Lots of misinformation being spread about Taylan. Being 2 years out of the game, coming back from injury etc.

Facts are he played in the centres for Penrith for the first 8 rounds until he was stood down and sacked.

He did an ACL prior to this and missed the 2023 season.
I'm guilty of saying not playing for 2 years so thanks for the context

We've underperformed in two games this year..

Vs knights in round 1...
Vs Storm 64-0

- Panthers, we didn't underperform
- Cowboys, I wouldn't call it underperforming given the 2 X sin bins.
- Rabbits we had the game won, with no thanks to dickhead gslvin.
- Storm, we underperformed by a looooong way.

We then go back to the Eels for our previous loss, in which we had Terrell may hit with a shoulder to the face the first tackle of the game (no intervention by the ref), laualili hit high in the act of scoring a try with no sin bin or penalty try... The joke of a hip drop tackle... And just the build up with the Galvin drama... This also wasn't underperforming..

Given the squad we have and lack of depth... I really don't see much "underperforming". . We've done well considering

I'm on team don't rush him in - as much as I want him there now.

It's why I wanted them to get the deal done weeks ago. Many many weeks ago. We could have worked on getting back from then, and he would have been close to coming back into grade by now.

But now... unlikely to have a huge impact on where we end up this season.

I'd def try get him into NSW cup team ASAP after proving his state of mind/fitness.
