Taylor not to blame for Tigers woes.....

I asked a question of Steve and any others who care to answer this

If the club , coach and management needs to change their thinking why wouldn't they , instead of having ridicule heaped on them from all angles ??

That's what I don't get

This whole argument in regards to Taylor is what you class as more important

Defence or attack

Defence wins hands down , in particular with this club We have never proven we can defend on a consistent basis

The only change the management ( not the coach )
Need to get in order are the books
We are desperate to get back in the black with the $$$$$$.
Is is true that were still paying part of Blairs , Austin & Thompson's wage ???

As for Taylor …. We have a team full of Kids , a few first graders and a heap of Plodders plus a handful of washed up veterans .
We haven't got the squad to implement the Dogs of war mentality .
Taylor needs to let the team play to their strengths and if that means 'razzle dazzle ' so be it .
Until we sign some more experienced , battle hardened players , Taylor is pissing into the wind trying to implement his so called 'game plan ' with this squad .

"Matthew Lodge drops off the bench, with Jack Buchanan coming into the final 17."

Taylor's game planning to play to our weakness. Absolute genius, why did no one think of this before?

Like Sheens tried to do and then when he tried to get the side to learn how to grind in 2009-2011 they just plan out basically refused

Hobbo when you start an apprentice do you just show him the easy side of the job and then hope he picks up the rest later

No , because all they will do is what they know and try and take short cuts on what is harder

Train them right straight up , if they aren't up to it you find someone who is

This is the other great thing about what Taylor is doing , it is clear to all and sundry who are keepers and who aren't

851 he is trying to turn our weaknesses into a strength

The minute the WT's defence becomes a strength this whole comp better stand up and take notice

Hope your right, but even our defence is not improving.

A really really bad choice, but I am not surprised, Lodge has been given a rough deal by Taylor.

When i have an apprentice I mix it up with the good and bad otherwise if their doing the Shit jobs for months they'll lose interest !
As I said we need EXPERIENCED players from outside the club to sure up our weaknesses !

Look at the Cowboys game . We defended till the death only to concede .
And why did we lose ? … Because we didn't trouble the scoreboard !!!
Taylors a knob and that's my opinion , but I won't lose sleep over it !

Wow Taylor must be working them too hard with the defensive drills …. What a rabble !!!!

Problem is if we get the spoon and then finish 15th next year all the Taylor fan boys will say we've improved ...
If we finish 15th the Taylor fan boys will say Taylor did great , we avoided the spoon !

Fair enough.

Curious to hear about what you think the changes have been, or should be, for positive vs negative football? In other words, what do you think has changed in our game plan recently, what actually is Taylorball vs controlled positive footy?

What the first half today. We are actually attacking now. It makes a huge difference. Its not Taylor ball any more.

We are having a go and its great to watch.

Our defence still isn't great but that is okay because teams will score points against us. You need to play both aspects of the game - attack and defence.

But our defence improved and started to make the Eels actually have to make decisions in attack

When this occurred they took bad options and we forced turnovers

We got better field position , it all came back to our improved defence ,which in turn gave us the confidence to attack

Happy - I'm not trying to be slack but you are killing me. Our better performance in the first half had next to nothing to do with our defence. Our defence is still really poor.

We've been playing a bit better because we have been attacking a lot more.

So when we attack and it works, first half, it is not Taylorball any more.

When we attack second half and it doesn't work, has it become Taylorball again?

Or is it only Taylorball when we lose?

I am struggling to see these games where we consistently don't attack, I am struggling to see where we lose because we fail to score enough tries. Stop living in the North QLD game, that was ages ago.

You must realise we have scored 20.4 points on average in our last 5 games and lost 4/5\. We are 18.3 points per game all season - is this not enough points to win at least half your games?

I don't think we have played Taylor ball in a while. He has gone away from that because it doesn't work. I think my post was fairly clear on that. I'm not sure what you didn't get. I posted that comment at half time. I assume that you misread my post.

I also think its pretty clear that our defence is poor and we can all accept that Taylor was just spinning crap when he stated our defence was improving. We are well down the bottom of the ladder with regards to our defence. I'm not going to crucify him for that. I am going to state that he has been spinning crap to the fans and some fans bought it when they shouldn't have.

Our issues to me are pretty clear. We need more pace out wide as a first point. We need to get rid of Richards and work on Naiqama under the high ball. Then we need a centre or two to back-up Nofo and Simona however I don't believe that is critical. You could also buy a centre and play Nofo or Simona on the wing.

If we can get Brooks and Moses firing and we fix our outside backs I think we can be a decent team with the assumption that Taylor doesn't revert back to Taylor ball.

OK I am just trying to get this straight.

We stopped playing Taylorball some weeks ago, because it wasn't working. This new strategy, let's call it Nottaylorball, is working well, I take it?

Or do we at some point accept that we haven't the quality players to challenge this competition in 2015, even if Jesus himself wrote the game plan and it was blessed by the combined spirits of Jack Gibson and Clive Churchill and Billy Kelly.
