I think Taylor needs to talk less. A few weeks back it was "we're not an NRL standard team" now it's "we can compete with anyone."
He needs to stay out of the media, he's burying himself with all this doublespeak.

Part of his job is to promote home games and keep the brand name out their. So I guess he just doing that and trying to put a positive spin on the place.I also think after every loss the heat is getting hotter for Taylor and he is trying to deflect some of this heat, mind you it is going to get a lot hotter before the end of the season

A decent Coach would have our players playing to there strengths and it's quite evident that his not doing this.
Apart from moving Lawrence to the backrow which was a no brainer there isn't any other positives to take away from the Season.
To now coming out and saying we can compete with the best in the NRL well his delusional as they come, we just played the Roosters last week and they never got out of 2nd gear.

Usual crap from Taylor, just doesn't want to be number 3 coach axed this week. Words mean nothing, it's the action that counts. A wasted year we have built nothing to use as a platform for next year other than stepping off the wooden spoon or close to it.
Knowing Taylor if we avoid the wooden spoon he will make it sound like we won the grand final.

We all know that wests-tigers **can** compete with the best in the NRL.
The problem at the moment is **they are not doing on a consistent basis.**
Until this happens, we will not make the top 8 or be a constant threat.
Like everyone, I would like to see it fixed immediately.
Currently few things hamper this, alleged no money to spend, & suitable playing roster, which will go along way to ensuring very good results.
No one know when this will actually change, so we will be in for some pain for an unknown period. :unamused:

I still don't get why it matters what he says. It's just media talk, you can easily ignore it. When I get the "coaching insider" emails from Tigers, I don't read them!
For all the poise and honest talk of Potter, for all the respect he gathered because he told it straight and didn't sugar coat or talk anything up, he still got the knife after 2 years.
People have to learn, the only coach who can afford to be totally honest and self-critical is the one whose team is in the Top 4!

Any business that is going bad, there can be no excuses, poor infrastructure or facilities the customer doesn't care, you have to make what you have attractive and appeal to people to stay in business.
Taylor has a bad roster, no money, yes but like thousands of businesses (and this is a business) he has to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. Its about making the best of what you have, like every other business, if you don't you lose support, revenue and close (or relocation)

He has to say something otherwise he gets fined by NRL. He can't bag the team too much because he has to spend the next week with them and try and instill the confidence in them that they can compete.
He is in a no win situation. Would you prefer him to whinge like Ricky Stuart or talk in riddles like Hasler or deadpan like Bennett? I like how he lays the blame on the players but also build them up by pointing out areas where they did well. I am not sure there are too many other ways to handle it.
