Te Maire Martin to debut

Cherry and Te Maire are very respectful young Maori boys. Absolutely fantastic role models for their people. I'm always going to watch Te Maire with bittersweet regret but I think he's destined for greatness.

And having a player like Soward to help and guide him along the way, is going to be great for him. Well done to the young man. He certainly doesn't lack footy-smarts.

Correct..watched the game with interest as I :supporter: havealwaysbeenaTMfan but with Soward and Wallace both guiding him thru the game..it made me think of our 2 guys..who have they had to give them on field guidance ..Anasta for a few games but no one else..and there in lies the biggest problem with trying to bring 2 rookies in such crucial positions thru at the same time ..I reckon Tayloer sees that now and if he doesn't get shackled by management and media they will let one of them go and use the $ to buy some experience to guide the other

If the club let's one go, i hope its Brooks. Nothing against him, i just think Mosses has more spark. :supporter:

If the club or coaches (Potter & Taylor) thought that the team needed an experienced player to partner one of the halves then they would have taken a different direction prior to signing Moses & Brooks several years ago. On Brooks debut he did have Marshall but that didn't last long as we all know. I believe the club knew it was going to take time for the halves to develop and their best football is still ahead of them. I would be disappointed if the club cut either of the halves purely on the basis that it preferred a more experienced player to partner the remaining half as this decision should have been made two years ago.

Agree TT. But if…..

Didn't see the game but good on him…hope he stays there and has a long NRL career...

I would honestly have loved to see a combination of Martin at 7 and Moses at 6 or vice Versa. But of course Martin Isn't in the boys club.

+1
Brooks was MIA against the titans, i was disappointed TBH

All the best to Martin, now we will be left to ponder what could have been.

No offence to Martin, who may turn out to be a future champion, but right now he goes missing more than Brooks.

I watched the Penrith/Parra game, looks like he is struggling to find the space he had in U20s. Defenders are racing up on him. He'll learn there's less time in the NRL soon enough.

The problem Martin is facing is he's playing third fiddle playmaker behind Soward and Moylan and he's at his best when he gets lots of possessions. He's posting himself on the blind side constantly. He's not showing hunger for the ball and Wallace and Soward aren't showing a desire to give it to him either. He touched the ball less than ten times today I am sure of it. He poked his nose through the line a couple of times. The no try he set up was classy and he threw a nice offload. His defence is decent for a rookie half of his size too. He needs to demand the ball more.
