Te Maire Martin

Sad to see Te Maire Martin having to hang up the boots at age 24. Brain injury to much of a risk if he plays on, he made the right decision. Good luck to him for the future.

That's sad. But his health is more important than footy. Hope the club makes some acknowledgement of him, I often see other clubs frequently do it regardless of when the player was last there (at the club).

Just hope he is doing ok as it sounds pretty scary.

Just goes to show , all players are just one bad knock away from an early retirement.

With this in mind, you can’t blame them for maximising their earnings whilst healthy

I would like to see in situations such as this th3 club give players a job or the nrl. I find it ludicrous that Souths can circumvent the cap they did with GI and burgess who will still get paid but not someone like Martin who deserves income from the game going forward

Any player that has to retire from injury is terrible news for the game. Hope the kid listened and studied and is getting help from the player associations and admins

I agree, this is sad news. I liked him as a player too and don't think he really reached his full potential. He was a champion in the lower grades - got Toyota Cup Five Eighth of the Year I think. I was disappointed when he left the club but feel more disappointed for him now.

Very sad to see him retire in this manner, hope everything goes well for his future. When he played with us, he was fantastic , he was a wizard, twice Holden Cup Five eighth of the year, played for the Kiwi juniors, he was always destined to play First grade, and really when he left us, could not fathom how we let him go, however in The Taylor era, alot bad decisions were made. Thought he never reached his full potential at Panthers and Cowboys, maybe he was restricted, still he played good, and he was part of that Cowboys team that made a magic run to the Grand Final, unfortunately lost however he did score a try.

sad news indeed - the NRL need more players like TMM, a good young footballer that youngsters can look up to. Hopefully Cowboys / NRL / PA will look after him now that he has to give up playing.

Not fair when you have douche bags like Moses and Matterson playing on (not talking about talent here).

Damn, that's awful.

He was a promising player that could've been anything.

Liked him from the moment i saw him in the 20s.

Wish him all the best for the future.
Hope it works out for him.

Te Maire mate, you did a great job at the Tigers and Cowboys. I thought you would have been a fine replacement for Thurston. You played for your country. I absolutely loved watching you play champ!. A very promising career cut short. Best wishes for your future endeavours mate.
