Looks like Buchanan and Thompson impressed Potter against Parra ( I know Woods is injured). Suprised to see Pettybourne at the bottom of the list. Not sure that means much, but I would suggest he's not being considered for a starting spot for R1 at this stage.

I always get a bit confused with this but it looks like on paper that Lawrence is on the right side with Utai. That wouldn't be the case would it? Only reasoning would have to be is that Potter wants to sure up the rhs defence.

The interesting pieces here, Thompson getting a crack ahead of both Pettybourne and Fulton.
Buchanan getting first crack at prop, wonder if this puts him in front for a bench spot??

I hope Ayshford has a better year this year. He was a dissapointment last season. Good to see Buchanan get a go in the starting side. He has alot of raw talent and will improve with age.

See that me and Potter agree about the lack of speed on the right side of the field  Only problem is we have no number 16?

would like to see nofoaluma get 15mins somehow.
good chance he will get a run this year in firsts so would like him to get his feet wet before the season starts.

by the look of that side the two biggest units Ava, and MT T, have not impressed or potter does not rate them.
Reddy most have pulled his finger out as after last years efforts he would have been lucky to be with the club.

He matches Utai's strengths pretty well, and IMO offers a bit more, the obvious choice to give him a run is replacing Utai for a quarter or so

What are you talking about? You had Brien in front of Utai

good to see reddy there tbh. i liked his signing last year, but he didnt get a proper go.

i hope to see more of him… one of the best under the high ball imo

IMO it's a great move starting Bodene T in the backrow over Pettyb. Arguably he is better defensively and certainly adds more mongrel to our pack. I was at the Parra trial and noticed Bodene continually bending the line. He hits hard in D and for me should be starting in round 1\. From memory he formerly held the bench press record at the Titans before being recently surpassed by Gordon? He is obviously a tough nugget - something that we will need with the departure of Ellis.

The bench for round 1 would appear to be heading this way…

Bell
BMM/Pettyb
Fulton
Buchanan

Dude what are you talking about? Ayshford got ran down after intercepting and Utai has no speed they both lack speed please don't tell me you disagree.

yeah that would be pretty much how i would like to see it play out on sat and into the future as the team evolves throughout the year.
a youngster growing and pushing an experienced head to the bench.
and utai to me would make a great bench player strategy wise.
woulkd have no problem giving him 2 10 min bursts in a game or 20 or 30,depending on how the game is flowing.

those games where you go for an extended time without the ball and defend your line well but can't get out of your own end.
throw utai on with instructions to go ballistic for 10 and we will go from there.
frustrates me to see coaches just sit there and watch the inevitable.

:brick:

Did you not create a thread the other day where you had Brien on the wing in front of Utai? tell me who the wingers are that Potter named and tell me how he agrees with you?

Umm the way he shifted Lawrence to right center? Why would he do that? Oh wait we have no speed there?

I realise there will be NSW Cup players having a run throughout the night. But my biggest concern is that out of a 7 man bench we only have one front rower present. I suppose if Woods were fit one would assume that Bell and Buchanan would two front row options on the bench. Depth in the front row will be a worry again this season. Hopefully the football gods will be kind to us this season.
