what i find funny at the moment is Sheens gets bashed from pillar to post justifably for picking blokes out of position…Yet are naming Tuamata at halfback....

He doesn't even play halfback.......he's not a halfback.....and hs played 40 mins of footy in a month...

Lui isn't a halfback either.

Neither is Moltzen..

Is Waters a Half?
If so problem solved im sure he can step up, but that would have to involve the forwards having a go with the exception of Heigno/ Ellis

😕

Exactly Geo , the kid doesn't even like the pressure of organizing the team around the park In the halves and really enjoys playing in the centres, where he can do more line breaks, and individual stuff

We need a half who'll run the ball Geo and i think everyone knows what Tuamata is capable of in terms of a running game… he'll dominate in and around the ruck against the Raibbitohs too... this is been a weakness of theirs for a long time and this year is no different (from the games i've seen anyway)...

Get a fullback with great support play and pace (Mullaney) and then a halfback who'll destroy the line if they take their eye off him for a second and I can see alot of points being scored...

So does that leave Farah and Marshall to do the organising…what IMO we need as a halfback is someone who can kick, pass the thing out to Benji so he can run the bloody football straight....

Moltzen could pass the ball 20m right to left and hit Benji on the chest....Lui also has that ability,...

Taumata would be lucky to throw it 5...

Look I'm all for Taumata getting a run but I reckon it should be off the bench Ben Barba style....give one of the second rowers a rest late in each half...shift Ayshford to lock and bring Taumata on as a roving centre who can carve the tired Souffs meat heads up....

You know actually have your mandatory back on the bench be an attacking weapon rather than insurance...

Would Sheens go this way.....doubt it...

I like it…

Moltzen at times was able to exploit defensive lines caught watching Benji and Robbie only... he would do it on at least one occassion every game, where he would step to straighten up and go straight through a hole. Tumata would be able to do this with a HEAP of success imo..

I think we have countless opportunities... but it revolves around one thing Tuamata being in the side and Fitzy not... whether it is on the bench and used how you've mentioned, or played at half...

I'd back it, but have him run from DH on one side of the field. Get the quick play-the-ball, catch the markers off, beat the offside defenders and throw a short pass for Rhino or Fulton. He coul probably even very well hit the line himself.

I figure while Sheens is experimenting with anything and everything we may as well give Taumata a go.

I like the look of that side. Ryan has been doing a great job at fullback, but I think Mullaney deserves a few games there at this stage.

I've always felt Mullaney hasn't been ready, but I think he's about as ready as he'll ever be. He can also play the second playmaker as well. I'd give him a go for a few weeks, and if it doesn't work put Ryan back there.

I'd also have Taumata make his debut off the bench.

Can't have 2 debutants in the same team it's just too risky IMO. I think Mullany is a year off and needs to bulk up.

It is an interesting side. I must admit I have never seen Ryan in the centres and have my doubts about Benji playing there. For mine if Lui or Arana was fit I would pick them at half instead of Lazarus.

For mine I like the bench with maybe the only change being Fulton staring for Gower. Fulton is a player like Stagg and Dallas Johnson a defensive machine and should be on the field as long as possible.

Would feel a lot more confident with CT bench going into a match than with the current bench we have for most games.

Ryan is a better centre than he is a winger or fullback. Spent most of his juniors there.
Lui and Taumata both aren't halfbacks, Lazarus is. Blake gets the nod in front most due to his long range kicking game, something the WT desperately lack. Although in saying this, Lui has worked hard to develop his kicking game to add to his repetoir. With having Ayshford at 6 as a ballrunning half and link man, that is why i can not justify Taumata and Lui as the 7 due to both of them being ballrunning halves as well.
No doubts with Marshall's defence at centre because he already defends out there and is usually sided with better tacklers anyway. Not much would change with Marshall's attack except he won't be able to squeeze the backline out of space. But this also does not restrict Benji to run across to the other side of the field to link up with a straight running forward or drift across to the other wing.
Fulton being a tackling machine and does deserve big minutes, but as i've stated before, Gower is no slouch either. Fulton was put to the bench to cover several positions as the utility.

Not sure you can justify moving Ryan into the centre's simply because he played junior footy in that position…I can't recall him throwing a pass the last few years, I never see him running good lines and hitting holes, I don't think he has the ability to get around his man...besdies he has been more than adequate at the back thus far.

This kicking game of Lazarus' has been raved about for some time, however I can only recall three or four fluffed kicks in first grade, maybe even a charged down kick? And the excuse that he was 'played out of position' does not fly in this situation - they were just bloody ordinary kicks . I do agree however that the Tigers have an ordinary kicking game, a solution needs to be found.

Big League magazine has a piece on Lui in the team news section. A Tigers source says Lui will be right to go against Souths and can't wait to play them at the SCG.

VERY happy to hear this. I hope Robert's return from injury will coincide with a return of sanity.

I cant recall who said it, maybe Brandy, but in the Fox telecast of the Roosters game it was mentioned he probably wont be ready for the Souths game. I hope they got it wrong and there is a fair bit of training to be had between that game and the Souths game.

I definitely agree with that.

If he's allowed to use it…...Robbie likes to kick the ball...

Benji loves grubbers, chip kicks and banana bombs.....dunno why he even tries them big spiral bombs in the warm up....

Lui's long kicking game is the best in the club.....Hope Big League is on the money....

Lets not forget those midfield bombs Bunji puts up into the stratosphere but only travel about 10-15 metres forward. :unamused:

I agree with that. In saying that his other skills especially with the ball aren't to bad.

Whist Lui may be better suited to 5/8th as much as I usually disagree with a lot of our coaches decisions, I can see him developing into a top half. Many other players have made a successful move between the 2 positions.

It seems that the players in the NRL squad rate him a lot higher than most of our supporters.
