Team V Souths

If mullaney is getting a run with the pies that's great probable the way to ease him in ….please don't push this kid to early I think he is a great prospect his size is not an issue for me it's his strenght that's the issue ..Ive watch him play he struggles to dominate the fowards of the nyc in tackles let alone 130+ Kilo nrl forwards that are matured all comes to those that wait.

Can I assume, this was said with your tongue in your cheek?

it was said before i realised taumata would have a week to get his fitness back up with us having the bye actually mate

Big call starting Gower ahead of Payten and Fulton CT. Not sure Ayshford at 6 is the answer either, his passing game isn't the best. Good to see some size on the bench though.

Gower is in the starting 2nd row for the softening up period, not because i believe he is a better player than either Fulton or Payten who both provide impact after the softening up. Gower has been playing prop for a long time now but his best football is played in the 2nd row in the number 11 down the left fringe of the ruck playing at and through the line creating several offloads for his hip runners. Ellis to lock would ensure his ability to pop a ball would be utilised to its full advantage where players such as Marshall as a centre could do some serious damage against opposing outside backs.
I understand without Fulton starting, thhe squad would most definitely miss his extreme defensive workrate around the ruck, but Gower is no slouch when it comes to tackling tirelessly with venom.
But as you noted, the size on the bench is a major factor to keep into the equation.
Moors has improved with every single game he has played this year and deserves a spot just on that merit alone and his size would be a great bonus against a pack like Souths.
Ayshford has already had a stint in 1sts at 5/8th against the Warriors and was stood up on his debut in the position, but that was when he was a first grade rookie. With much more experience in the top grade under his belt now, the kid could handle the adjustment quite easily. You talk of his passing game which he has shown a lack of in recent times, but if you notice, he has been squeezed out of room to have a passing game. You must remember Ayshford has played plenty of outstanding junior football at 5/8th. My reasons to have him there are solely for his running game and to be used as a link man to his outside backs.

CT has his reasons, while I don't necessarily agree with his team selections, I do like to read his thoughts on playing certain players in certain positions.

I like… big size to take on the scum...

what i find funny at the moment is Sheens gets bashed from pillar to post justifably for picking blokes out of position…Yet peeps are naming Tuamata at halfback....

He doesn't even play halfback.......he's not a halfback.....and has played 40 mins of footy in a month...

Lui isn't a halfback either.

We need a half who'll run the ball Geo and i think everyone knows what Tuamata is capable of in terms of a running game… he'll dominate in and around the ruck against the Raibbitohs too... this is been a weakness of theirs for a long time and this year is no different (from the games i've seen anyway)...

Get a fullback with great support play and pace (Mullaney) and then a halfback who'll destroy the line if they take their eye off him for a second and I can see alot of points being scored...
