Tedesco Thread || He's staying!

Good to see an article with some actual quotes considering all the others have been pretty much speculation. Still the author doesn't seem to know who the Raiders CEO is. Which takes a bit away from how reliable it actually is.

Geez, it really is ridiculous now. It's like we are all treated as being fools. We may not all be in the know , but generally most can read between the lines. Unless, we really do have a chance - maybe we have offered revised terms - more $$$ - but all that article does really, is confirm or make it Moreso that he is on his way to Canberra … And yes it would only be about the money...

He certainly won't be staying at the Tigers for the money, even though I'm hopeful we did put a decent package together all the same. He is a gun and should be looked after but sadly because of a cashed up club we are kinda forced into a situation where even Teddy as good as he is, prolly shouldn't be worth such massive figures at this early stage of his career...so much is based on his clear potential and staying injury free. The kid is a star. Just hope he can see we are building something special and surely incentives and further $$ are their for him in the future...This is Just dragging it all out further for us supporters...

This all has a Tim Brasher feel to it but i hope it has a better ending, lets face it if he really wanted to stay with us on fair/good money he would have signed by now but like Benji trying to squeeze the last drop of juice out of the orange which for an injury prone footballer is a stupid & dangerous game to play.My 2c.

Or that our CEO is not Mr Meyer…

Just can not believe how people have turned on Tedesco because he may actually have accepted a deal that is far better than the one we can offer him. Really he would be mad not to, another ACL and he could be nothing. A pro footballer has a very limited shelve life, now if the Raiders are willing to offer him nearly double the odds he would need to see a shrink if he rejected the offer, its nothing to do with greed or disloyalty it probably is the smart thing to do.

What the Tigers have to do is try and get close so than loyalty becomes a factor, but from all the talk that seems out of the question.

If he goes I say good luck and hope you one day get to the playing level of your pay packet

You'd hope those figures are incorrect or Ricky has really lost the plot. Fair enough paying overs for a playmaker but 800k for a young FB, 500k for a good but hardly brilliant hooker and more for a second rower?? They have no halves apart from an ageing Campese. How many clubs will the guy ruin before he's banned?

What do you do you mean you can't believe it? How long have you followed rugby league for? I don't know Tedesco personally. All I have to go on is what he puts on the field for the Tigers. When he chooses to play for another club I don't like him any more. Of course I only mean in the sense I don't like any other footballer which is with none of the real or enduring feeling of any of my personal relationships. I certainly don't wish him any personal hardship and whatever anyone says on here I sincerely doubt they do either.

If you are sur[prised bypeople turning on Tedesco in light of his seemingly imminent switch to another club you are very naive. It's one of the great constants of football. As I've mentioned previously, in the same way the Raiders see Milford as the scum of the earth they'll welcome Tedesco like a saint if he joins. And so it goes.

It's the one of the great hypocrises of football, but just the way it works.

Nothing personal, and hopefully Tedesco realises that. Obviously it is a bit of a tough thing for a 21 year old to go through though. Thankfully he's pretty handsomely remunerated for it.

I agree. We're basically talking a million over the life of a 3 year contract if the figures are right. I think you'd need to be a zealot of the highest order not to see why that would be tempting if not impossible to turn down.

It's hardly a career ending move. If he plays well (which you could easily do from FB even in a losing team) he moves on at the end of it when Ricky has been canned and the new management realise they need a playmaker.

This contract saga is a real joke…Ayoub his manager comes across as a shonky used car salesman....

Why is it some players can pen a deal in a matter of 2 or 3 days yet Tedesco and his manager have played out his next contract in the media over 3 months.

Teddy and his shonky manager supposedly have had offers from the Dogs and Roosters as well as our offers to gauge his market worth. It’s clear the Dogs and Chooks have lost interest or can’t compete with our offers...I’ll go for the latter as a theory...that being the case we are offering this prima dona and his manager a very good deal...so why test the market further if Tedesco is genuinely interested in staying with the Tigers?...all this speculation can be put to bed by Ayoub and Tedesco but they choose to continue to string everyone along.....good luck Tedesco...you have gone down a few rungs for mine...if I were the Tigers i’d be putting some heavy hitting clauses that states you must play more than your current 41% availability...

Another question is, why did it take so long for us to offer an improved contract?

The Raiders only came in with their big money bid after Milford confirmed he was leaving in the past week or so. If we had of had Teddy signed and sealed before then it would be a non issue! Instead we low balled, and have seemingly only offered more money (albeit via an extra year, back-loaded) to try and compete with the money being thrown around.

If that back loaded offer was on the table in early April this could all be over by now!

Thats bitterness talking. What club has ever put a stipulation like that in a players contract.

Its quite common, albeit more for fringe or journeymen players. Whether its injury or just fringe players not playing well enough the result is the same, they have stipulations where if they don't reach X amount of games in a certain period they fail to trigger certain clauses.

Kirk Reynolds at Knights was a fairly public example of this type of clause.

Heard from a reliable source that if Teddy does leave, WT have a suitable replacement lined up…... That's all I have so don't ask me who or from where , I'm assuming it's not from nrl comp but that's just my theory

come on we need a bit more info, the dogs are barking the hens are crowing the fans are screaming, cant beg any more just spill the beans lol.

All this does is convince me there is no point speculating on the matter. Either he stays or he goes. Until it is announced formally, what is the point of guessing one way or another?

I am more confident he will re-sign now. If he was going to sign with Canberra I think he would have done it over the weekend or today.

As some have suggested on here already I think they will announce it next week when we announce our side after the bye and Teddy returns from injury.

If the Raiders are offering $300k more per year then the guy would be a a bit simple if he didn't take it. Some players go their whole careers and never get a big bucks offer (like Steve Edmed :roll ). Teddy has played 25 games and he is damn lucky to get an offer like this. For a professional sportsman these days this is the mecca and what you are trying to achieve your whole career (did I mention Steve Edmed?). It sucks for us, but saying that he should stay with his mates and pass on a million bucks is as ridiculous as it is naïve.
