Tedesco vows to live up to hype at Raiders

I wish the Faders would take him right now. Mid-season signings are a joke.

If the NRL can't see that the mid season signings system is farcical after this , they never will

No player should be stuck in the situation where they are asked about their future coach while still involved their current situation

The comments aren't good , but he's damned either way he answers this question

Bring in a transfer system so if required players can be traded during SOO trade month

The guy is young, so dangling a big carrot in front will attract him. However for that sort of money, he is expected to perform. We have put the poor guy on the pedesdal long before he has achieved it. Now that he is just starting to show his potential he cannot turn away from the money that has been thrown at him.He is not yet proven and he is not even in the top 8 in my book at the moment, however he could develop into the best. Is he really worth that much now? Will he realise his potential from now on, with a team running near last.
RL is a team sport. Without Brooksie, Farah, Woods, Simona and Nofo, you think, he can run around like what he is doing now in Canberra. For that sort of money he is expected to carry the team. Have fun Te$, with a team running last, you won't have a chance to show what you have got. I can't blame you for making a grab, however bear in mind in a team that is not preforming your representative chances won't be doing any good.If your team is not winning, with the money you are getting, you won't be appreciated. Thus that is the price you have to pay, the cross you have to bear, Te$. Everything has a balance, all the best to you, now that you have made your choice. The Tigers have been more than fair to you, shown patience throughout your injury and develop you into a player that you are today.

The onus falls squarely on the person being interviewed to answer the questions in an appropriate manner - he has failed to do this and in his reply intentionally slandered his current coach and team. Tede$co is a university graduate who has a kindergarten brain

I think we should just wish him well & move on,knowing Ricky Stuarts track record of pissing off people he'll probaly be back with us in a couple of years time.Stuart also seems to have an uncanny knack of misjudging a players ability, the classic clanger was not wanting Thurston at the Chooks,Phil Gould advised Politis to grab him from the Dogs but Ricky didn't want him.

What a load of crap…if he had any class he can dictate terms of the interview...or just say nothing about Canberra
Supporting this behavior is pathetic

Lots of true colours being shown by many now

People are entitled to vent their frustration over this but please stick to forum rules. Personal insults aimed at Tedesco and his family will not be tolerated.

Willow fair point…no issues there, but I am sure you understand Tedesco has strung along this club, its fans, sponsors and members...People in here are mostly passionate WT supporters...They are entitled to blow up about how we have been treated by Tedesco and his Manager...Since his decision to sign with the Raiders Tedesco has fanned the flames of fire by firstly suggesting its not about money why he is leaving the WT, then snidely giving the club and current coach a backhander in an interview and in the same breath he says he wants to give his all for the rest of 2014...we are not fools and deserve better...Tedesco is very much responsible for all the anger on this forum toward him!..

Irvine as a mate of Tedesco perhaps you can give him some words of advice...stay out of the media for the rest of the year....and give him an insight as to how the WT fans really feel about him and why....

Well I saw this thread last night and put myself in his shoes in regards to this question

My only answer I could come up was no comment , which probably would of offended both parties

I don't know , can anyone think of an answer that wouldn't have caused the issues that Fifita had with disrespecting your current or future club and risking having your contract torn up ??

I had thought of that Ink about dictating the terms of the interview , but I didn't know whether the interview was a live interview or through the print media so that's why I left that alone

That interview is the final insult. Get the guy to mow the grass at concord oval for the rest of the yr. i am serious, why send him away match fit and develop him further ( inc state cup) in any way and at the same time use the development time of our new fullback next yr also.

Happy he has looked after himself it is his right but dont punish the club that made you and the fans that supported you through good firm and INJURY.

Furthermore to all those that bagged the club for not getting him signed last yr, take a look it appears he and his manager were always going to shop around because teddy obviously had these underlining concerns about the WT.

He could have handled it better.

Probably just should have said
"I'll give it my all for Canberra next year, but right now I owe it to the Tigers to make them my focus and give it my all for them. I'm very thankful for everything the Tigers have given me, and I'm very thankful for the new opportunity Ricky Stuart and the Raiders have offered me. I won't be taking anymore interviews about Canberra beyond that until the Tigers season is over." That would have been pretty classy, and I don't think Canberra fans would have been too upset.

That said, I don't think what he actually said is that bad if you strip away the window dressing of the journalist…

"Coming down there as a marquee player and someone Ricky expects a lot of, it's definitely going to be a lot of pressure to perform week to week,''
"Sometimes players might get a bit complacent when they make a change, but you don't have to worry about that if you're training hard and doing all the right things. I love watching Milford, he's a freak. They're big shoes to fill, but we play similar attacking footy and hopefully I can live up to his standards.''
"Even Robbie Farah, he thinks he's a great coach and I feel I can learn a bit off him,'' "I really want to play rep footy consistently and the next few years I think he can help me there.''.
"It was a bit stressful and a weight on my shoulders thinking about it all,'' he said. "Obviously fans are going to be disappointed when you leave, and I got a few angry posts or tweets. But I tried not to read them and knew my friends and family would support me, no matter what.''
"It obviously hard leaving 'Brooksy', [but] I'm sure it won't take long to strike up a good combination with Mitch,'' he said. "[Raiders centre] Jack Wighton and I played Aussie Schoolboys together, and I played with [Raiders prop] Paul Vaughan for Italy at the World Cup.
"'Vaughany' and I spoke a fair bit, we were pretty close on that tour. I know a few of the boys down there in Canberra and they really enjoy it. I live on a property at Menangle and Canberra has that country vibe.
"I'm focussed on the Tigers for now.''
"Some people say I'm injury-prone but it's hard to help, it's a physical contact game and injuries happen,''
"The ankle got caught in an awkward situation, you can't help that.''

"…I'll be happy to answer any questions about my future with the Raiders after the Grand Final... Right now, I've got a competition to win with my team mates at the Tigers..."
Or decline the interview altogether.

"No comment" or "Look I'm playing for the Tigers this year and that's what I want to concentrate on now"

There's no excuse, it's been handled badly and is getting worse.

The NRL do need to wake up and put a stop to mid-year signings, it's been a joke for years and a blight on the game.

And yet again my point is missed

And if you read through my comments over the years I've pushed the same point

Get rid of mid year signing and bring in a SOO trade period

Very easy wasn't it. Apparently too difficult for someone I'd assume has had media training. Surprised there's no interview with the Raiders jersey on…......

So what's the answer …. Go back to the old days where it's all hushed up ...... Go back to the "worst kept secret" situations ?
You can't stop players signing with other clubs during the season.
I agree its harsh for the fans but what's the answer ?

Pretty simple actually Knuckles

Any club caught out negotiating during the non trade period loses $1 million salary and cap dollars

Any player caught is stood down for 12 months without pay

Run this as an international rule , so players can't then go to ESL or anywhere else

If you attach big enough penalties to issues ,people obey

Like the concussion rule , you stick a big enough penalty that you get stripped two points if you are caught out and it would all stop quick smart

Fines are a waste when it comes to the rich clubs

Im sure the most upset person at all this would be Potter
He has always supported local juniors and Teddy was his show piece when they took the game to camden way ..
The only way i'd ever be able to forgive Tedesco is if he wins us the GF this year before parting otherwise i will hurt for ever with the way he repaid us with HIS loyalty

One final post from me on this….

Tede$co and his manager have intentionally timed their announcement before the bye..this allows us to vent and forget before the next HOME game a few weeks away...I can't wait for the next home game when his name is announced by the ground announcer...I hope there are some obvious signs made up to show Tede$co how we really feel about his treatment toward Potter, fans and his current club!.
