OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

While I completely agree about JL, players wanna play with good players who are professional competitors.
I reckon Richo is a big part of the change. Richo ( and Benji) got JL and Richo knows the pulling power of a JL or a Greg Ingless.
Of course he is. He’s close enough to the top to have an impact. We need more strong minded leaders like Richo in the boards. The club has burnt a lot of good people.

Fair Play..... Just numbers though - Aren't they...
Will be a bit different offloading to a fullback at full tilt through the middle,
Than to a lumbering forward who's out of position.
Some of the greatest support players of all time wore #6.

If we want to put the proverbial boot into Bula, cast some glances at Galvin too.

Mate, there are 1.2 million reasons that got Luai here, That’s not to say he isn’t invested in the vision, but it took massive overs to get him here. Overs that were worth it, because he has magnetism.
It was overs when we gave it too him , but who in Thier right mind thinks it’s overs now , after his last season . In fact most pundits who I’ve seen comment on it , think it’s going to grow nicely and might even be a steal as the salary cap rises .
Just for clarity, the eels are paying brown 1.1 mil this season , and they couldn’t win a chook raffle when Moses was out injured .
Same for Souths with walker and his 1 mil . Deardon is on a mil now as well. Ponga is on 1.5 mil and the most expensive player in the game wins half his matches .
I don’t subscribe to your narrative mate . Even if luai and his personal performance never reaches the heights of last season , the simple fact that his presence in the team , is a magnet for others of his level of class , that in itself is worth the money.

Be a fair argument to be made - Are we offloading with intent for position?
Or just hurling it out with reckless abandon - for no impact.
It’s with intent . The uptick in offloads in dangerous positions , also coincided with the uptick in the scoreboard ticking over for us .
And tbh , during the losing streak it looked like a lot of forwards like twal especially , put the cue in the rack re. Offloads . There was countless times they had thier arm free for a Bula to be screaming through for nothing to happen .
We need to realise these half chances decide games , and as you said be smarter with our offloads especially with retreating defences . I thought they did that pretty well last year .

We also need to have Bula hanging around May and Hunt like a bad smell just wating for it. May will be all over it having played with Teddy.

Imagine having a couple more Richo types involved at the club. It’s a shame it didn’t happen before Fruit Pascals and Bagipants hired Mr Sheen.
The Chair and CEO had no idea how to manage Sheens, in fact the CEO was determined to white ant him from day one.
The board showed a considerable lack of leadership for allowing it to continue.

Is $1.2m “massive” overs for a SOO level half? He’d have to be worth at least seven figures on that alone. There’s been several others who didn’t want a bar of us no matter what the offer.
Whenever this comes up we need to remind ourselves luke brooks was on 1.3 million one year, nicho hynes is on 1.1 million until 2029, ben hunt was on a million, amid many others. With the growing salary cap, 1.2 million is a steal

But champion @GNR4LIFE, let's keep his $$$ in perspective, even allowing the perceived "overs" - the salary cap has inbuilt increases as the seasons pass so it is OK relative to what top level 7s are paid, his capture was part of a team rebuild of which he is paramount as on-field leader and attraction.

It's not the "overs" say that a Josh Reynolds etc was paid - no comparison whatsoever.
It appears that Luai is already paying his way.

Mostly agree. These guys are paid to play football, not be role models. There are some other considerations though - is a guy's attitude bad for culture? can he lead other guys astray? are off-field habits getting in the way of on field performance?

On the flip side, it is in players interests to have a public identity and be perceived as a positive role model. Not least for the TPAs, post footy career opportunities and the likelihood of clubs picking them up as a "culture" buy.
Do you really wanna be The Culture Club - though, they did play at Wembley - I guess there's that.

I don't think you can look at last years team and or stats and compare. We have 5 or 6 new recruits (almost half a team) that walk into our starting side, one of them being one of the most dominant players in the comp.

Lets just wait and see how things pan out, if we don't have a considerably marked improvement by mid season expect change.
I wasn't optimistic till I looked at the May signing and looked up May's stats.

Props No advantage, slight disadvantage. Without May though we would really go backwards.

2nd rowers. Still a major recruitment issue. If May or Seyfarth can claim that spot it would be awesome.

Halves, Luai is on fire and somehow knows how to play Halfback in a Penrith superteam. Optimistic*

Backs:
Turuva, Bird (if he plays at Center), A fit/healed Olam - Going to be massive.
Staines

*which is silly knowing what we have been through.

It’s a right of passage to be a tad pessimistic as a tigers fan, but I’m optimistic we will at least be in contention for the 8. Luai is huge for us everything will be dictated from him on and off field. I don’t think it’ll be instantaneous but I think we’ll get there.
