Test Cricket Draft Game

Hang on , when we first brought this up CB suggested we just pick players and didn't have to worry whether they were openers or not

This where this has got so confusing , even with the all rounder thing that Geo brought up yesterday and now with the openers

I brought up one particular idea , CB slightly altered it (as far as openers and something else was concerned )and as far as I knew nothing was changed after that

When was this changed to 1/ pick actual openers and b/ how the line up would be picked as far as all rounders were concerned ??

For your information…page 12 of the banter thread...Sabre is running the comp...

I have decided on the voting process:
>
1st vote will be for the opening batsmen
2nd vote will be for batsmen 3-5
Note these 2 votes will EXCLUDE All rounders and wicket keepers chosen there.
For example in CB's case, Kallis will be his all-rounder and his number 6 will fill the gap for the 3-5s
>
3rd vote will be All-rounders
4th vote will be wicket keepers
5th vote will be pace bowlers
6th vote will be spinners
>
I decided to split the batsmen to make voting a bit easier. 50 players would be a huge task.

A / I had picked Pollock by that stage , what I had to then pick a 2nd all rounder ??

B/ So we had to read every page of the banter thread to get the new rules …..

Read the last 2 pages of the thread …you even posted straight after it was quoted a couple of times...

A Pollock is your A/R...no you didn't have to pick another...

B/ no...your 3-6 will be included in the middle order batsman vote giving you an extra batsman...your 2 fast bowlers will be included in the fast bowlers vote to even it out...

Hard to go past Warner and Sehwag. 2 guys who can take the game out of your hands in the space of an hour. I have Cook rated highly too. A lot of it based on the 10/11 Ashes, he was an absolute machine that series. Highest runs scored of any touring batsman ever in Australia i think. No mean feat.

I assume you mean Trescothick and not Nathan Astle?

Yeah, sorry

No offence To Sabre , because you've done a brilliant job , far better than I could do on my best day , but I'm not looking for rule changes in a banter thread …..

Top 5 pick themselves IMO…there are a lot of great openers which makes it difficult ranking them as the could easily interchange position 5-15 was just a personal preference I got out of watching them play...the bottom 5 Strauss Athers and Gooch struggled against us .. Gayle more of a show pony and Taylor has never opened more a middle order player...

Adjusted my vote due to Amlagate…

I think Swag is a bit confused all round.
Still hasn't really grasped the idea of the game.

I get the feeling he's a young kid, maybe 12 or 13\. Not one player in his side is a past player, they are all current. Plus he uses the word swag.

I'm only 30, but Cook is easily the best English batsman I've seen, better than KP IMO. He still has years ahead of him too.

P.S. Changed my Amla and De Silva picks, must have got confused with them opening in ODI's.

That's not how it works mate.
You've gotta rank all 32.

Is that aimed at Swag's attempt or having to rank 32 players lol.
You don't need to go to as much effort with your descriptions as you did for the first vote if you don't want.

Nah, it was aimed at Swag…

I don't mind giving my blurbs, I quite like giving the reasoning as to why I rate them how I do but since there's another 12 players this time around, I might make them quite short.

I agree with that 100%.
And there's no sporting event like the Ashes, absolute best thing to attend.
