So a club that is coming 13th and only won two games should not be looking externally to recruit players that are better then what we have. We do not have a second winger in our club. Talau is a centre, cini is a centre /fullback, Hoffman flopped on the wing. Yet we don’t want a fast winger who can kick goals.

won 3 games lol

My bad, we’re flying lol.

Broncos fans on their forum seem pretty OK with seeing the back of Isaako, but the majority are reluctant to see TPJ go. And then you look at this forum, and most of what I'm reading seems that Tigers fans want Isaako more than TPJ. Interesting

Maguire coy over Tigers' pursuit of Pangai, Isaako

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has remained tightlipped about the club potentially signing Broncos duo Tevita Pangai jnr and Jamayne Isaako.

After Maguire, CEO Justin Pascoe and football manager Adam Hartigan were spotted flying to Brisbane, they told NRL.com on Wednesday they would not comment on their day trip north of the border.

Following a Fox Sports report that their trip was to recruit Pangai and Isaako, Maguire was coy when asked on Thursday about the possibility of signing the duo, who are each under contract to the Broncos until the end of 2022.

"I don't comment about players that we're looking at. I'm about the now and my job is to make sure we keep growing as a club," he said.

"So who we talk to is part of the job. Everyone's doing it and we've got a big job tomorrow that I'm focused on."

Adding to the Tigers' salary cap jigsaw is former Maroons utility Moses Mbye, who has been granted permission to negotiate with other clubs for 2022 despite being under contract until the end of next season.

St George Illawarra, who have been hit hard by injuries and suspensions recently, have expressed an interest if the Tigers would release Mbye mid-season, but Maguire said he would remain at the club for the rest of 2021.

Dragons coach Anthony Griffin said on Thursday that talks with Mbye were not expected to progress unless he could gain an immediate release.

"He would have been good this week but I think they have gone cold on that," Griffin said.

Maguire also addressed the topic of Adam Doueihi being disgruntled about his recent switch to centre with Mbye taking over at five-eighth.

"We're a team, it's about the team - that's what we're doing. Adam understands that," he said.

"I've had discussions with Adam and they're kept between myself and him and he showed that by the way he played."

Doueihi excelled at centre in last week's Magic Round win over Newcastle and has again been selected there for Friday's Gosford meeting with the Warriors.

"We had a strong performance last week and we’ve got to back it up this week," Maguire said.

"I was happy with the cohesion of the boys. It was good to watch.

"How they played is something we’ve got to hang on to … It’s all about backing it up now. It’s a big game ahead."

cant really understand why either of these players would move states to play for the tigers.maybe a sideways shift to the gold coast but a shift to sydney is big move, away from family and friends.
this is the reason we only had scott prince for two years.
if it happens ,fabulous recruiting.

Probably 2 years would be enough, if they worked out?

I think the move south would be good for Pangai, he seems to have some bad mates where he is?
Apparently, Isaako is close with Madge, through the NZ side?

Can understand going after Isaako but don’t think we need another forward. And he is a bit of a loose cannon too.

In situations like this, you ask if the player is better than who we currently have. Luke Garner is our current starting back rower. TPJ is a monumental step up from him.

Trouble is our fans have a dislike for players with ego or a bad rap. Then add a player from birth of the border and they get even more anxious

Me I think it would be a standout signing.

Half this lot hated the Scott prince signing

What I don't get is if both players are contracted until the end of next year, doesn't that mean that other clubs can't negotiate with contracted players unless they get permission?

Suggests both Clubs are across this matter.

Pangai Jnr is a weapon when motivated plus he was born in Ashfield so he'd just be coming home..

He's a quality NRL footballer..great signing if it comes off..

I'd be looking at Corey Oates for the wing before Isaako

Definitely not, hopefully the Tigers are having another crack at Cobbo he is an absolute gun

More u think about the 3 of them going up the more it seems it may involve a player trade or two. Something complicated.

Mybe would be a good 5/8 outside of Reynolds and offer then stability
