You can have all the young talent in the world but without some top shelve quality around them it will be very difficult for them to reach their full potential.

I understand that when your chasing a player and there are multiple clubs doing the same your going to miss your man sometimes, but to miss your man basically every time you have to ask serious questions why.

All clubs need the odd big name signing, it generates interest that translates into memberships on top of what they bring to the team. Ok our last few big name signings from Ivan’s days turned out to be duds but that was just bad recruitment.

Its obvious why we continue to miss.

Exactly.

Pantai is not a big name signing. He is a risk signing at high $s and people will be on the case big time, if he proves a dud.

I hate when people say this but im going to say it.

If our so called fans are sooking because the Bulldogs have or might sign someone we are interested in well then go and support the Bulldogs.

People who actually understand where this club is at understand the recruitment we have already done and how it will project over the next couple of seasons.

Stop being miserable losers and find the bigger picture.

As a society we demand instant gratification.

Almost 2 decades of failure has left the WTs with a negative brand amongst players. That's the sad truth.

We need to embrace this legitimate rebuild of on and off the field. ITS Happening.

Need the right players at the right price acrosss the squad.

Hard to tell this fan base be patient when we’ve made the finals 3 times when we’ve existed for over 2 decades

If we can't be patient, we'll screw our salary cap again and have to wait even longer. Patience is the only way out of this.

Tuki Simpkins will do me... hungry and keen to learn..

One bad miss in D ...take that out and he was a 7/10

They really need to be the next incarnation of Sonny Bill for you to be excited dont they.

So many miserable posts today.

7/10 is good ...you realize that .....

It's very good for a young debutant first grader.

If this guy is worth the 800k some of you want to pay for him, why is his club who are very short on quality so keen to get rid of him, and why has he not even got close to origin. Game 1 the blues had an apparent "back row crisis" and he wasn't mentioned.

Dont worry, salary cap turmoil is a very real risk for the Dogs.

And Barrett and Gould start squabbling about how the team should be playing?

Wait until Gus, white ants Barrett and wants to be selector and coach like he did with Cleary.

I look forward to seeing them implode

Id rather get a little excited over a player and go out on limb.

For example id rather say that Tuki Simpkins is our franchise forward we have been looking for. He is Chris Heighington but better.

But understand youd rather not risk having your valued reputation ruined by going out a limb, easier to just keep it safe and offer a 7 out of 10 rating.

Thats not really how the Panthers built it is it. Besides Maloney who would be considered a reasonable but not top shelf signing they built it from the ground up.

Teams like Newcastle however are still struggling due to a lack of depth and junior talent.

Is that the reason ? Or is it they invested early in guys like Pearce , Guera , Watson , Klemmer . For instant success ... only for that success to fizzle out due to tying your cap in guys who probably arnt worth it . Add Frizell to that list now as well.

They’ve got Fitzy , Ponga , the Safiti twins , Barnett , the lesser Brailey , Best . So they’re not short on talent . It’s not a talent issue , it’s a culture issue much like us. They have a losing culture that they have to weed out .

3 finals in 21 years make players reluctant to move to your club.

The point is its not just Pangai and its just not this year
It's LM, Addo-Carr and other signings we have been linked to over the years and we end up with who
It's loosing our Juniors like Tedesco Woods and Moses Papenhuyzen and also Addo-Carr Korobetti
So what is the bigger picture
Developing players
Has that helped us in the past
They all seen to leave for the stronger clubs because they get poached
We need some big name signings to turn the tide because we have very little to be happy about at the moment
Now with this talk of Brooks being Shoped
Good or bad I don't know
But Hastings is no replacement at this point
We need to hang on to Brooks until we have better
At this point Brooks shows more heart in defence then any other player in out team
I would rather offload Nofoaluma 1st
If we have no one else close to signing with us then go a little harder for Pangai
If he is what they think we need then that makes some sense
If he helps us win a few more games then that is what we want
The more we win the more likely we sign someone of better calibre
Small steps
Who else of note is there on the market
Finucane?
Not on overs as he is to old now

Dont think we should be in a p....ing contest with the dogs ,if they pay overs and get him and he turns out a champion then they deserve it .quality players at the right price along with top class juniors is the way to the finals

They have no depth and no crop of juniors coming through. In fact they got rid of most of them to recruit the players you have mentioned.

Jimmy Maloney was the perfect guy to put next Cleary, okay he was on the decline as a player but he had a great football brain and was super competitive. I ask, who in our current roster is going to mentor a young talented back??? Okay we have Tamou for that role in the forwards, although not sure it’s working.

Jayden Okunboor.

Aim for Cotric and land a JayO.

Sad stuff.

Just don't send him to any school development clinics.
Is it possible we could one day chase a player without a shady history?
