Thanks to whoever decided to Tell Austin he was no chance of first grade

I guess the fact Austin wanted a fresh start out of Sydney is the Tigers fault

Oh do tell ks. Only you have made a statement against what was obvious to all. Let us in to that mind of yours.

It's been said often around the time Austin left he wanted put of Sydney with his family. People only read and take in what they want to take in. I don't know exact details but the issue of not being promised the 6 jersey only played a small role in his decision. Escaping Sydney due to off feud issues was the main cause.

LOL at Ben Elias link or influence…I'm not one of backdoors biggest fans but to say he has any input to Wests Tigers apart from a rent-a-quote or two in the papers is ludicrous....

P.S. KS is correct a large part of Austin leaving was to get out of Sydney...

I have seen you say the exact same thing in the past with nothing to back it up. Sounds more like poor form on your side than any real off field incident or any wanting to escape anything on Austins side.

His mrs wanted out of Sydney.Trust me if management told him that he had won the race to wear the 6 jersey he would still be a tiger, simple as that.Once again we stuffed up,there is no denying it.Is it time to move on?of course it is but let's see the uproar on this forum next season when big money offers come for Tapau & he ups and leaves

It was a poor decision that happened on JT's watch.

Everyone has their theory everyone has their assumptions but this fact can never be denied.

It stops at Taylor!

Austin has been interviewed and addressed his decision, his comments have been posted here numerous times. His reasons are clear and nothing to do with these assumptions.

Poor form would be for me to publicly state what it was when I clearly said I don't know exact details, but i do trust my source. U believe the Tigers pushed him and I'll believe he wanted to leave mate…easy

Yeah and Taylor or the club are going to publicly say that they made no real effort to keep him :brick:

So what if he had issues, poor form to hear it second hand and run with it on here. All players have issues, the good clubs help the talented players through their issues.

Austins personal issues or reason aside, the club did not want to keep him and did not think he was as talented as he turned out to be.

As it always has and always does it then falls on Taylor for being the coach who let him go.

This is my final comment on the matter

So Its poor form to add balance to an argument when one side (Taylor) is being hammered for something he may not have had power over? Personally I do think Taylor didn't try and convince him to stay which was wrong, but it was all initiated by Austin and the coach decided to let him have what he wants. I wish Austin was still here too….I also wish I was 18 and knew what I knew now....ain't gonna happen though

FORMER Test fullback Gary Jack believes Canberra sensation Blake Austin is a greater loss to the Wests Tigers than Benji Marshall.

And Balmain Tigers legend Steve Roach claims Austin’s instinctive support play is reminiscent of former Canterbury great Terry Lamb.

The adulation for Austin emerged following his hat-trick of tries against Newcastle last Friday night which as a result will ensure the Raiders five-eighth catapults into contention for an unlikely Dally M Award.

It’s a remarkable and stunning rise for Austin, who wasn’t considered good enough to make the Wests Tigers NRL squad at the beginning of last season.

Austin, 24, spent the opening four rounds of the 2014 playing park football with the Wests Tigers NSW Cup side before he was inexplicably shown the door by the Wests Tigers management at the end of the 2014 season.

“I can’t believe the Tigers let him go,’’ Jack, who played 244 first-grade games for Balmain, said.

“How could they let that happen? He’s a gun.

“He would’ve worked so well with Luke Brooks at the Tigers. An old head and a young head, who could’ve taught him the ropes, but instead they’ve got two young heads there.

‘’(Mitchell) Moses is 20, its going to take him a couple of years. Blake had done the hard yards and he would’ve been ideal for Brooks.’’

Jack described the timing of Austin’s departure from the Tigers as of greater significance than that of club favourite Marshall’s exit, after the 28-year-old severed ties with the club in acrimonious circumstances in 2013.

“Benji began to lose his desire at the back end of his time there and this guy (Austin) was on the up,’’ Jack said.

“He (Austin) wants to play first grade, play for NSW and play for Australia. Benji had done it all, but at the stage of his career which Blake was at, he still had development. He’s a bigger loss. Its such a shame.

“He played so well City-Country and he played well after that again. He should’ve been the NSW five-eighth.’’

Austin notched up his 13th try of the season in 15 appearances for the Green Machine on Friday night.

He finished as Channel Nine’s man of the match after displaying the presence of mind and intuition in attack that led the former Australian Schoolboys representative to sit equal fourth with 13-points, five points behind Johanathan Thurston (19), when the Dally M Leaderboard went behind closed doors after round 16.

Austin’s rapid-fire hat-trick against the Knights has league greats singing his praises.

Having watched Austin produce flashes of brilliance in Tigers colours last year, Roach said he was not surprised that he has proven a revelation under Canberra coach Ricky Stuart.

“He’s always had ability,’’ Roach said.

“He has amazing instincts as a footballer and he’s like Terry Lamb was in that regard.

“He supports through the middle of the field is like ‘Baa’ (Lamb) did and which we don’t see as much these days.

“Would I prefer him in a Tigers jumper? Absolutely. Given the season he’s having, he’s a big loss.’’

Such is the nature of Austin’s devastating form, he has already been earmarked as a potential spearhead for a new-look NSW Blues side in next year’s State of Origin series.

And Stuart confirmed he has been working with Austin to chase his representative dreams.

“If he stays committed and applies a consistent focus on his training, he’ll get there,’’ Stuart said.

“I want Blake to be a representative player. I want him to be the best player he can be, but he also knows how that will only come from playing consistent football.’’

I'm going to say it again: Austin was signed AFTER Moses was re-signed. We had already committed to Moses and Brooks as long-term options.

Austin is a talent and he showed enough last year, but you can't keep a bloke on the bench just for your own option.

Had he stayed, he would have played at #14 or somewhere else random, but not #6\. Not even now would JT have switched him to #6, not unless Moses was injured.

So Austin would have stayed for 2015, played in reserves and off bench, been backup hooker at times when Farah was out, then signed with someone else for 2016.

You can't spend hundreds of thousands on your halves and then have them sitting in reserves. The salary cap just doesn't work that way, you can't buy Ferraris and leave them in the garage.

I usually agree on all your posts but not this one.

Ferrari's in what? Holden Cup . The board signed Brooks and Moses long term so which ever Coach answered that they will be using the Brooks and Moses combination got the job IMO.

Austin on the bench for 2015? Why does it have to be that way? Austin was the form 5/8th in 2014, it's up to Moses to play himself into form during pre Season . Austin proved his worth last year.

There is 1 game I can recall where Brooks and Moses dominated the whole game together and that was towards the end of last year vs the Bulldogs. Brooks debut vs the Dragons was a ripper as well but he had Marshall with him. Yeah there has been small doses of brilliance but where these 2 have dominated and controlled a whole game only vs the Bulldogs last year.

What is piss poor is that Austin would of gone to the Tigers and said there is an interest from the Raiders to sign me and Tigers would of said I imagine…..take the deal as Moses will be our 5/8th even though he hasn't been tried in that position as he has only played fullback due to Tedesco injury last year.

Not to say that they won't come good in 2 or 3 years as a combo but in this present moment in time I feel letting Austin go at the time was a poor decision and I said that at the end of last year, now people are starting to realize it.

Anyway everyone is entitled to there opinion and we as supporters see players differently.

Justifying the decision because we've opted for moses long term doesn't make it any less of a.wrong decision…we screwed up again ..end of....despite what the apologists will have you believe
