@ said:No Marquee coach will want to come here unto we have a centre of excellence that matches the top Sydney clubs and are financially stable and secure… right now we have neither of those
@ said:I don't know whether or not the players( or some of them, ). want Taylor to stay .or go.
But I can't work out why any player would want to keep a coach who failed his biggest boast when he arrived(Defence) and hasn't had much of an impression on the other problems in the team.
Taylor was never lucky enough to be supplied with speed or bulk to help him in his game, but he had what was needed between the ears. He was bloody good, and resilient.
I was excited about seeing what he could to help Brooks to use the obvious talent that he has.
It's been disappointing to see Brooks go backwards under JT. And he has gone backwards.
As for players wanting him to stay!
Could it be ( and this is a question. Not necessarily an opinion) that, some of the players have developed a comfort zone under JT, knowing that there is , and has been , little , or even no consequences for substandard performances( particularly ,but not only , the halves)
Could it be , that some don't want a hard nosed Coach who likely wouldn't put up with
Some of the rubbish games that most of our players have handed in at times
A guaranteed first grade spot may be enough for some of our players, and they may not want a coach who won't accept that.

Our defence!!!! every year it is bottom three standard and every year we are told it will be the pre season focus and every year we fail mot deliver. Two outings this year and it has been bog average. So why would the so called big 4 want to retain Taylor…got me beat

I will try and put it as simple as I can….don't blame the coach for the players shortcomings...teach them defense all you like until the cows come home,if the player lacks the ability to tackle another man and arm grabs or doesn't fully understand how to wrap a player up holding a ball, then it's time to either man up or find another sport where you may not get hurt,I'm sick of everyone pointing at the coach...if he hasn't got the NRL standard players to play against other NRL players, then it wouldn't matter who coached the team..I watched Brooks on Sunday against the Panthers, the one word to explain him as an NRL halfback...WOEFUL..and he has been in FG for a long time now...don't worry he had some mates,Naiguama also comes to mind..my question is..how come Moses can develope into a NRL playmaker albeit slowly and yet the super star of NYC is hopeless??,my answer isn't the coach,it's Brooks lack of ability to take control of a game with men in it not kids his own age...
@ said:I don't see why Widdop would be a bad signing. He was a fine foil for Cronk at the Storm. If he's struggled at Saints, its probably down to him having to take on the role no 1 playmaker. He wouldn't be here with Moses. And he's a pretty good goal kicker. If Brooks continues to struggle i would offer him 350 take or leave it. Its a massive drop to what he's on now, but how the hell can you justify paying him any more based on his output.

If the coach can't teach them to defend, then its responsibility to drop them and look for an alternative. You can't separate the coach from the players they are a part of a big machine.
He gets credit when we win but he also goes down with the ship when we lose.

I agree on Widdop, let Brooks go and spend that money on Widdop.

Yes you are right, but if Taylor drops him,who do we replace him with this year..I would rather release Brooks than resign him and use the money out in the market trying to by a replacement with NRL experience on less money than overhyped potential..you can coach a player as much as you can,if the player lacks ability and heart to put into tackling or controlling a game that he is supposed to,then don't blame the coach..how many times have people said that Brooks goes missing or is a turnstile, that's not the coaching staffs fault ,that's the players lack of ability..

Not to harp on it but it's also the coaches job to create depth or have provisions in place in case of poor performance, injury etc. brooks not living up to expectations drop him and run JLJ.
We can't accept lines like, salary cap hindered, or hasn't got the team he wants yadda yadda. They are just excuses.
