THE AMBUSH - Show Your Stripes..

Good on u guys for sticking solid this season.

This was a game were about 20 of us were going to that has now been cancelled.

Hard to justify even a dollar of hard earned on this team.

It would have been on my mind to stay home if we didn't have this event to run, but Jackson is a great opportunity as well. I have him for about 30-45 mins so should be able to have a pretty good chat.

Game wise I'm interested to see how Nu Brown goes at 13 and to see the debut of hopefully a long term Wests Tiger.

Nice 1. Any good insights or takeaways?

Well done mate.

Will listen to it later tonight. Care to give a few dot points

  • What went wrong for the Wests Tigers in 2022
  • Some thoughts on who our best performers have been
  • His favourite Wests Tigers game this season

Thanks - and some Hastings answers insights too please ....

  • Personally, he does want to stay at the WT. Management have begun early discussions just depends on if the club sees him apart of the new regime and if a fair deal can be struck. He doesn't want to keep changing clubs.
  • Recovery going well, ahead of schedule. Made sure he was in a moon boot post-op to be able to ice and start rehab as soon as he could.
  • Sheens told (didn't ask) JH that he'll be playing lock moving forward. His role in A has not changed, he is the halfback and general. In D, he is making 35 tackles a game. Said teams were able to number up on him easily before the move to 13, this adds less predictability and provides more potent options in attack with Brooks and AD playing as two 5/8's with Laurie out the back. They could have 2 on each side and teams wouldn't be able to number up as much on one side.
  • Roosters are a benchmark 'glamour' club. Winning starts at the front office, they've got big names at the top, etc. A winning club that has had consistency from the top to head coach and down to the players. Manly not so much a glamour club. Pre COE, Manly players used to shower with a hose. Both clubs essentially forced him into the person he is though.
  • WT are on the way up. We are not that far off. So many games this year (about 4-5) were so easily winnable and we could've easily converted them into wins and we'd be sitting here talking about making the 8. Jacko kept going on about having a 'must win' mentality and young players giving it to the superstars in the game when coming up against them and not being scared of afraid to give it to them.
  • Kitione Kautoga is one to watch. Described him in the mould of Villiame Kikau but not as big. So skilful, powerful, can break a tackle and get the arm free to offload.
  • Named a few players; Brooks, Joffa, AD, Laurie, Maumalo and Pole as a few players that have done some good things this season. Notably mentioned that all our players have been good in spurts but no one has really been the 'best player'.
  • His favourite game for obvious reasons was the Easter Monday clash vs Eels. Match winning field goal, 50th game and 1st win of the season.
  • He loved his time in the UK, made so many friends and wants to end his career over in the UK hopefully to give back to the game.
  • The supporters in attendance genuinely thanked JH for what he has been able to bring to the club both on and off the field. They admired it and wanted to show him that. Told him they want him to be at this club for a long time and build around him. We need more people like him at the club.
