The anticipation of a great 2017 season...

I classify a toiler as an honest worker who gives it his all. The term "plodder" has become the most over used expression. Some seem to think there are only 2 types of players, guns and plodders and that there is no in between. That's rubbish. Buchanan was a plodder, Milone was a plodder. Lawrence is not.

I agree, just because a player is not gun doesn't make him a plodder. As you said Bukes was probably the perfect example of a plodder. Not sure if Milone was good enough to be called a plodder!!! My scale of footballers would be

1–dud
2--plodder
3..toiler
4--standard meat potatoes variety
5--very promising up and comer
6-quality nrl standard player
7..GUN

Of course no3 and 4 could be one of the same

The cheering for a loss crowd are all here.
How can you wish the coach to get punted midseason? You guys are unbelievable. You are not real supporters.
Still carrying on about Farah, go follow him to souths if he is that important to you.

Lol what? Not liking the coach /= wanting your team to lose. Quite the opposite! What an absurd thing to say.

I just don't think he's the coach for the job. Can you not have an opinion on the forum? The coach is an important gig, you want fans to be voicing their opinion. It seems like you've already forgotten how the season ended. I hope the players haven't!

It is also a tad ironical. The NRL is a business these days, hence what happened Farah. Yet it is not reasonable to call for the coach to be punted if he doesn't perform. Haha.

Go back and read some of the replies. All before a ball had been kicked for 2017 season.
It's really sad that hate for Jt makes fans want to lose so he gets punted.

I hate the coach, don't rate him at all, want him gone yesterday, and it has nothing to do with Farah at all, so supporting souths is not on my radar.
And I have probably supported wests and weststigers longer than you have been alive(46 years) so you can take a hike.

Nobody would want us to lose games but that dosent mean you have to like the coach.I am 63 and have only known 1 coach i thought less of (lamb) and 1 i thought the same of (Jones). The club will always have my support and if you ever saw me after a loss you would know that it would be unthinkable for me to follow any other club.If WT were to go under i would lose interest in the game.
I doubt very much if there is a single person on this forum who would ever want us to lose games.

So true, I am 50 and supported wests/weststigers my whole life, I didn't like JT when he played at wests, and nothing has changed my opinion of him in the 26 years since he debuted for the magpies.

i agree with you supercoach- it will be will they, wont they re sign during the year which will be used as a excuse for poor performances.

the sooner the team and supporters know, the better.
but judging by the elijah taylor thing, hope springs eternal.

Well written. I've supported the club far longer than JT has been coach. JT has always been a divisive figure and should have been punted.

Besides being divisive, he is a hypocrite, he as a coach has a huge problem with players who do what he did when he was a player.

So what did Taylor do as a player ??

You've lost me 851…... not sure what you mean ??

IMO people are being dislusional if they really think anyone else would have had more success than Taylor. Iam not saying Taylor is the next super coach, but like anyone else who would have had the gig over the past few years he has had one hand tied behind his back and one leg in a rabbit trap.

The likes of Bellyache,Bennett,Hasler would never had taken the gig on with so many handicaps attached. I say give Taylor a break and give him 2017, if than he fails and don't forget he still has a hand tied behind his back, than sure flick him.

Let's face are we hearing crys for Robinson head at the Chooks because he failed to deliver with a budget ten times more than Taylor.

I'm more confident coming into this year than I have been in a very long time. Not because the RF drama is over (there will always be drama concerning someone at the club) and not because we have all this "raw talent" or "potential".

I'm confident because I feel we have finally found a platform in which we can win games. It's taken over 2 years for JT to get the team going in the direction he wants but at the back end of last year we saw that starting to bear fruit. To say we have strike power in our squad is a vast understatement. Tedesco/Moses/Idris combination in particular are going to run rampant next year…it is going to be a bloodbath.

Do we still have issues with our 1-17? Yes. Do we still need to improve our defence? Yes. Are we in a position where we will struggle to make the 8? Hell no. We will be right up there next year despite our shitty defence

Robinson has a premiership and two minor premierships, Taylor has…. ummm... still thinking..

Our attack will be one of the best in the league, and adding a hungry Jamal Idris to the backline will only add to it. That will count for something. We just need to tighten the defence, then who knows.

Where did "doughnuts" Fitzhenry fit on this scale?

I swear sometimes that you and I are the only voices of reason on this Forum SC

I could include Geo but his 42 voices of reason are constantly in his head :crazy

Getting 50 and 40 put on us when we had our season on the line left a real downer for me.

You don't do that if you are fully intune with the coach and the place is heaving with confidence and motivation.

I am not saying Taylor is a dud, however the jury is still out.

We had 3 Origin players, and some good young talent.

I thought we finished around where I would expect the squad to finish. We need to make the 8 this year there can't be any excuses. We have lots of players at the right age and with over 50 games where they should be able to take their games to the next level.

I don't expect us to challenge for Top 4 or win a comp but finals is a minimum requirement really unless their are significant injuries.

We didn't have 3 SOO players when we had it handed to us Eddie in the games you mentioned

But you are correct , the jury is out

No Top 8 and Taylor will be a goner
