So what did Taylor do as a player ??

You've lost me 851…... not sure what you mean ??

Question the coach's team selections and tactics, get into all sorts of mischief away from the club, JT clashed with god knows how many people from the moment he reached the Winfield cup, he takes a set against any player who does these things, all the while knowing he did these same things throughout his career.
I have never liked the bloke, and in my opinion he is out of his depth as a head coach, his ceiling is assistant coach, but I don't want to take over this thread with my view on him.

I think you need to leave your hate at the door brother

The guy wasn't blessed with a great deal of talent , but certainly made the most of what he had and worked terribly hard on his game

Was told by Danny Peacock when he was there he was the 1st at training and the last to leave

You've got to respect players / people like that

Don't like the bloke that's fine , he deserves some respect though

I'm a Taylor "supporter" (ie, I'm happy to have him here for at least one more year), but it's well documented that he was a divisive influence as a player. He was shooting his mouth of at Wests, questioning Warren Ryan's tactics in the press. Exactly the type of thing that would have me rabid if Farah did it. That was a long time ago, and hopefully he's learnt a lot since then, but many of us have long memories.

Do you know Danny Peacock, Happy? He's a lovely bloke, but I'm always too shy to talk to him because of how I worshiped him as a kid.

He was the Qld state open schoolboy fullback in 1985 , from the Darling Downs , he was with the 1986 squad with a few of the other 1985 players

Was down the Coast when he dislocated his hip …...

Could understand the pain Rowdy was in ......

If the price of pies , hot dogs ,beers or tickets goes up it will be Taylor's fault :crazy

**And if Taylor reshuffles half the team to put our winger at dummy half let's blame the guy selling hot dogs**. And when he puts Lovett at centre and costs us two games let's blame it on the barman.

We won 4 games with that winger at dummy half. No need to blame anyone.

And when it was on the line against panthers and raiders, did we win those games aswell. Or did we get our asses kicked.

I've already stated Taylor will be gone if the Top 8 mirage doesn't appear

Three years is ample time to get the squad where it needs to be

Im positive about what could happen in 2017 as well,

But for us to make the 8 or even the 4, others need to drop down.

My Question - Who is gonna make way for the Tigers. Dogs maybe. Who Else????

The top 8 changes every year. It's not as drastic as you are making it out to be.

Making the 8 in 2017 is in our own hands, we don't have to wait on others to fall - we need to make them fall.

Players say what fans wanna hear mostly.
Another off season after another fail sees me a little more blase' each year

I agree Ink, whilst I have a lot of desire/passion for wests tigers to achieve every year, its becoming like a glass half full or empty situation. :unamused:

Only time will tell.

TIGERS

There are spots up for grabs in the Wests Tigers leadership group following the exits of club stalwarts Robbie Farah and Dene Halatau.

And you can pencil 22-year-old five-eighth Mitchell Moses in here and now.

Foxsports.com.au has been told Moses’s rapid rise in 2016 will see him elevated into the Tigers’ senior sanctum this coming season, a reasonable bargaining chip come contract time for one of the hottest young playmakers on the open market.

Teammate Tim Simona says Moses has already embraced extra responsibility off his own bat throughout the Tigers pre-season.

“Mitch Moses has taken a bit of a lead as far as the team goes, guiding the boys around and he’s killing it at training and he’s gunning for a big year,” Simona said.

“We haven’t decided about the leadership group yet but at training he’s showing it, talking the boys up and showing the boys where they need to go. Just owning it.

“Not only him but Brooksy (halves partner Luke Brooks) is doing that job as well.”

Good new keeps coming out of Tiger town. The more Moses and Brooks can keep taking ownership of the team, the easier it will be to translate that on to the field. Particularly with Brooks whose shyness has been well documented. I'm not sure if Simona threw his name in just so he wasn't left out but fingers crossed Brooks has learnt his lessons from past terrible pre-seasons.

Elevating Moses to the senior group hopefully will help with on-going negotiations.

All the talk can be around Brooks and Moses but reality is the forwards have not been strengthened and the weaknesses of last season are still there. So as far as anticipation goes not much is going to change unfortunately ,the highlight for me will be watching and hoping that some of the younger guys do kick on but other than that the team will struggle on a weekly basis.

I'm hopeful of a good 2017 season but realistically we can't really expect big things until 2018 when we will be able to go to the marketplace all cashed and with our "big 4" secured. Patience, people - we have known this for the last two years.

So another year of spin and excuses is what we can expect . When do we stop looking ahead and say this is it.
Put up or Goodbye.
When we go to the marketplace all cashed up , most of the 15 other clubs will be just as cashed up as we are.
The bar will be raised for all clubs. The only thing that will change as far as I can see, is that the players will be paid more.
The pecking order for us and other clubs, will still be the same

The four games that we won with a winger at dummy Half, says a lot about the opposition. , as well,
And don't forgot the very good backrower experiment as arguably the comps worst dummy half, that went well didn't it

Buying players in 2018 will be like buying into the Sydney housing market. The price of players will be elevated completely out of synch with their actual value and the buyer will be the financial loser.

True enough Newtown and GCT but at least we'll be able to compete for those overpriced players which is something we have been unable to do for a long time.

I may be wrong S E, but I can't see a time when being able to compete on an even basis with the top clubs,0n a purely financial basis, will ever be Achieved, especially when TPA's are still Allowed.
And unless we improve a lot, I can't see a lot of top players wanting desperately to come to the club for any other reason

Wests for years had the same problems.
Not a lot of money and a string of mostly average coaches
It wasn't until we got lucky with some players from the bush such as Dallas, Ray Brown, Snoozer Elford, Dorahy( I think he was from Illawarra, and ,(thanks to Roy Masters,) Les Boyd.(and others)
We also had Wayne Smith from Enfield Feds around the time that Masters got involved
You don't pick up players like that every day , especially ones that can go straight into First grade.
Most players that are potentially first graders these days have been in Sydney for a fair time before they go up.

A Coach with a different attitude to the game( Roy) was able to turn most of the these players and others to, into a formidable team.
These days players are looking at more than just the immediate amount that they can get paid.
It's a big part of it , but the smart ones would still be looking down the track of which club is going to be best for them ,now, and into the future. What TpA's are availailable? Employment possibilities?
As well as other considerations.
I was always into the optimism at the start of every season, but approximately 55 years of hearing all the same hyped up claptrap , that most clubs (including ours ) thrive on , I've given up believing any of it. It's mainly Spin and BS.
Clubs that have one benefactor such as ours ,will never compete successfully for players at clubs such as Easts for example , with the network of business people thathey have behind them

It's a sorry fact that the NRL is not a level playing field.
I still hope that that will change, but I accept the fact that that is purely wishful thinking
Without going into opinions of particular Coaches, I thing we lucked out big time last year, and while still hoping that lightning strikes twice, and we can get within a couple of positions of where we were this year but I'm not even mildly confident.

Over most of the last ten yrs. I've put $50 on before the start of the season that we would make the GF.
I'm not even going to risk my 50 this year
