I've said previously no guarantees that another coach could or would have done better, but that's not the point. You have to judge JT on what he said he was going to do and what he did.
IMO he hasn't delivered but all that aside he has 2017 to prove himself. My only stumbling point as far as next year is concerned, what do we do if we are really struggling by mid next season?
Does he see out the season, how does that effect our retention plans, will announcing his replacement give us a chance at securing our key players and also help attract other potentials.
On the flip if we are going gang busters do we extend or still look for a coach to take us to the next level,if there is such a coach available.
My only concern is, will we be able to attract players to the club with JT at the helm (**given his reputation).** Sure we have had players come since he has been here but they have been fringe buys not star signings. ET from reserve, Idris from wilderness (not saying they are bad signings but not players that we had to heavily compete for).
The more I think about 2017, the more I think it is going to be very similler to 2016.
What exactly is his reputation?
He is divisive, not the easiest to get along with, hasn't been well supported by previous playing groups, a nob, just the stuff you may have read about in the papers. I don't know him personally and thats why i say reputation, because thats what is reputed by those that do know him.
Is there something you know that is contrary?
Outside of Farah and some fans on here i havn't heard those things said about him at all. That's why i was curious to hear your thoughts on his reputation.
But its his success as a coach that will attract or repel players to him, none of that other rubbish.
Fair enough, time will tell. I hope your right. But there were plenty of reports about JT prior to and after which is what i reference as reputation - which after all is perception.
But lets both put JT to one side.
I hope this year, like i do at the start of every year that we have a great year and I wear every loss for days. If we have a great year we cheer, we scream with joy - no one questions performance all bad plays and decisions are forgotten.
Does that mean that when we come out of some bad years and just miss the 8, the same thing should happen?
If no, you assess and then you start looking at options and possible scenarios. But you always start at the top. Thats all i was doing.
