I hope this is how we line up, Rd 1:

8\. Packer
9\. Liddle
10\. mats
11\. McQueen
12\. Taylor
13\. Huth

14\. Marshall
15\. Twal
16\. Aloiai
17\. Grant

at 50 mins, aloiai to 12 and taylor to 13 for Huth's break, marshall on for liddle

thoughts??

If his shoulder is all good by round one - why can't Liddle play 80?

he can…..where would u put marshall then??

I would still have Marshall on the bench as he can play every position in the backs and 9 if the DH gets injured. So, that is covering 8 positions out of 13\. the other three bench spots cover the remaining 5.

Sure Benji can cover the positions. But I think Benji is better as an X factor.

As cover: He comes on when someone gets injured. (i.e. up too 70th minute on bench)

As X factor: he comes in to score tries and mix up the attack. (comes into the game earlier around the 25th minute).

Someone like Kev or Corey Thompson maybe Marsters (or someone in the back sitting down for Benji) could be position cover. I think though that we should be banking on Benji coming onto the field. When you have Brooks + Benji + Reynolds + Lolohea we should be scoring tries everywhere.

Having 8 instead of 12 interchanges makes this approach problematic. But the tries would be worth it.

What I am saying Co is he can cover 8 positions if someone goes down. If no one goes down it doesn't mean he doesn't get a run. If one of those 8 are having a shocker - they would get hooked in the second half and Benji gets a run and a chance to flash his x factor.

Isn't flashing your X Factor something which can lead to your arrest?

Only if the wrong people see the flash - hopefully they won't.

Except this does NOT make sense. If Liddle plays for 80, then he does not get relieved.
Marshall just stays as a "reserve" which I think is dumb. In fact the whole idea "Oh well play THUDBALL and have 3 big props" isn't smart. Sure if the team were playing against is weak up front maybe it will work. But we will just struggle against the Cowboys and anyone with a better forward rotation then us.

This seems like the Blue's state of Origin plans. Go big and hard and bash Queensland harder…. Yes this will work for some games, Other games you may want faster and more energetic guys to run the other big guys down.
Don't get me wrong it's a mean big side with a mean big bench. For a few games it will work well. Other games I would swap someone out to add speed. Probably Grant for Marsters.

I see 4 contenders for the "reserve" spot on the bench, Marshall, Kevie, Corey Thompson or Marsters. I only see Marshall being a true X factor.

Trouble is he has long been an ex-x factor player and now more so in the experienced journeyman category.

I was just replying as to where to play Benji, not the bench selection of wt01.
