Ivan brought him over and thankfully he fulfilled a service during desperate times.
Like others have commented, I think he would know his time, in the team, is coming to an end. I can understand any game criticism but stop misdirecting stuff that is ultimately up to the coach.

He doesn't know his time is coming to an end, he talks on FOX like he has sorted his issues after being dropped, he hasn't sorted jack, he still makes the same mistakes he has always made, but now he is slower and makes more mistakes

He's getting worse at a faster rate than ever before

You can see him visually ageing during a game

I visually age watching WestsTigers games too

Why does your response sound like you're frustrated with me? I'm merely pointing out that some people are misdirecting theirs.
And you're only proving what I was trying to point out in the first place, and that is that his inclusion in the team is based off the coach's decision. But some people would rather resort to blaming and insulting the player rather than properly engage.

No one knows his inner thoughts, other than him. I'm a fan hurting too, so please stop with the dramatics.

I think Benji needs to make a call and retire immediately teams are targeting him a getting the result they want. He's achieved a lot in his time and should go out with the fond memories we have, its an old cliche but YOUR ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR LAST GAME and his last game was a stinker Benji the drums are beating the FORUM have spoken ITS TIME TO GO

Maybe that's what Benji is wanting, to finish up on a good game. He certainly won't finish with getting us into the finals.

Madge needs to do it for him. Thank him, drop him, and start talking him up on how he can best help Wests Tigers in the future, in being a promotional drawcard talking to kids we're trying to sign up. Benji needs to be associated with us in the future along the lines of chatting up kids we are trying to recruit. Three's a job there only he could do, with his high status in the game and as a Wests Tigers legend. Playing on further now will only tarnish that memory/legacy, and he needs to finish up before he does further harm to his reputation/memory, as the kids may remember his efforts now as opposed to ten years ago.

This is who Benji is....dud kicks, gave away repeat sets...no control over sets, clueless crabbing across field, horrific defensive reads.....

That describes 80% of the last decade of his career. Not just tonight...

20% of it has been magical. The highs are very high...but there is little in between consistency.

But why do we all act surprised when it happens yet again? Why do we act surprised that the team is up and down when its main play maker is?

Nothing will ever change until he retires. It is not even debatable at this point fellas.

I have been saying that for 2 years and yet some people are still wanting him to back up again next year.It is total insanity he will not improve and i dont care how cheap he is

It's not about the money it's about the CAP space number he is taking up. We can't fit a new player in because of that.

I agree with every word you say.I want to remember Benji for the wonderful things he has achieved with us not what he has given us for the last 3 years.
I understand he wants to do what he thinks he can do to help by playing but it is doing the exact opposite

I think Benji has been great the past 3 years. I think this year his defense has been terrible and you can't carry a guy who is that poor defensively.

I would bring Reynolds in and if he plays well another club night want him for next year... Lets open the blinds and start displaying these so called talented players we have under contract on big money.

I really hope that Benji does the right thing by himself and to retire at the end of this season...I like many others have been overjoyed over the years with his brilliance and as someone said Father time has caught up with him..

Benji will be far greater to us as a club off the field rather than on it,he always will be the ambasador of this club in my opinion,he put us on the map...

Hadn't spotted this thread amongst the wrist slitting until now and have only read half or so of the first page, but that was enough. Benji was great for a while, but never a game manager and WT brought him back here after he was basically being used as a bit part replacement hooker, so what did some expect?

I am not frustrated with you, I am frustrated with Benji, he is experienced enough to know when its time, but he won't accept it, and it is dragging the team down with him, which we clearly can't afford

Thanks for clarifying @851, had to go back to check my posts to check if we'd had a clash on here. Hahaha.
Your post was similar to a phonecall I'd taken during the game. Almost abused a colleague and thrown the phone over the state of that game.

Benji didn't re-sign himself and Benji doesn't pick himself..Benji wouldn't be in the team if neither of those things happen..

They're already on display unfortunately - Mbye offers nothing and can't kick a goal from right in front, and the most memorable thing J Rey has done this year is accidentally kick a guy in the face and get suspended for 2 weeks.

We're all class.

I have 2 daughters and a wife, I know well enough not to poke the bear, I just can see all the good work achieved, coincidently when Benji was in the grandstands, being undone as the season unravels.

Benji looks and is playing like a player that knows his time is up.
It’s almost like his been told we will not be offering you another contract. Your job is to get this team ready for next year.
Doesn’t look to be enjoying football anymore.

I don't think this is true. He is only getting picked because our options in the halves are terrible. I don't think his salary is causing problems with our cap. If we had better options he wouldn't have played so many games.

I think Benji is embarrassing himself at the moment.

With Reynolds at 6 we looked our best and played some good footy and should have beat Penrith but for some poor officiating, we need to return to that, or blood Madden, there are options without giving Benji anymore game time

I think Reynolds has been really poor. I don't think any of our halves have been good. I think Madge picks on form. We just don't have the talent in the halves to compete.
