The Benji as a senior player era

When his career is finally over, his highlight reel will have almost nothing from his games post 2011. He's the ultimate illusionist. This is not to say he wasn't something special for the tigers in the early days. If there's a silver lining in last night's disaster, it's that Marshall must have signed his last contact with the tigers.

I really think what should happen now is that he should only play one last game. Maybe that’s the Parra game but we have to get a halfback into this team.
The only one we have eligible would be Madden, he is a must to come in. Question is who do you play at 6? Reynolds or Brooks

Reynolds needs to take us home for the rest of the season. Liddle needs to join him. With Madden. Talau MUST remain in the centres. Packer Blore Twal Huth Luci Lawrence Twal Clarke are all we have to go forward and defend. And there is the problem. Our engine room is a Datsun 120 Y. When your winger in Nofo is the hardest worker on the field you know you have to go back to the drawing board.

Benji has never been the player he was early in his career when he had Scott Prince in the halves with him.

2010-2011 he was outstanding. Since then not so much. Has his moments but too many bad moments than good lately

He deserved to get to 250 given the icon that he is for the club. Now he’s got it, time to hang em up. Lawrence too.

Age was never going to be kind to Benji. For that to happen he had to develop into a Cronk like player where game management was his strength. His whole career was built on speed, stepping and at times absolute wizardry with the ball in hand. Will forever be grateful to have seen him in his prime and reminisce about the great Benji and the confidence you could have in those days of us scoring points.
I think Benji knows now, and I really believe even if he doesn’t and despite the fluff we may hear, Madge does and will tap him on the shoulder.

I think most members are of the same Opinion that he should retire gracefully this season and not play on. He he asks to play on it means he is selfish and the club is going backwards again offering him a contract.

Brooks is not much better to be honest and needs to also be pushed out.

Im happy for him to stay on for 150k as depth, but he can't be our first picked. Still got the hands, decent kicking game (normally), some game management.

But people moan and cry about mbye's defense, benji makes mitchell moses look like a brick wall.

For two weeks after been dropped he was actually putting his shoulder in on tackles and having an effort.
Back to arm grabbing as its been for the last 20 years now.

Benji will retire he can come in and be a great half for a few games but Father Time is undefeated. More than that we need new leaders the club won’t grow until the old guard is gone.
Benji, Lawrence, Reynolds, Mbye, Packer, ET, McQueen. I hope we do what the Bulldogs did and start again. We will continue to end up 10-12the every year unless there’s a clean out.

A majority of our best 17 are under 50 games and we have a few Nofa, Brooks, BJ that have experience but we need to add a few more from winning teams.

Use the funds to ding players like Luciano behind better players at other clubs and great young players.

Nothing will ever change until he retires. It is not even debatable at this point fellas.

He has been a great player for us but he is inconsistent and we need better. His defense is terrible at times.

This is who Benji is....dud kicks, gave away repeat sets...no control over sets, clueless crabbing across field, horrific defensive reads.....

That describes 80% of the last decade of his career. Not just tonight...

20% of it has been magical. The highs are very high...but there is little in between consistency.

But why do we all act surprised when it happens yet again? Why do we act surprised that the team is up and down when its main play maker is?

Nothing will ever change until he retires. It is not even debatable at this point fellas.

I have been saying that for 2 years and yet some people are still wanting him to back up again next year.It is total insanity he will not improve and i dont care how cheap he is

I agree, I was happy for him to have 2018 as a swan song, but he is 3 seasons deep in to that 1 year swan song with designs on another season.
The club needs to tell him not only is he dropped this week, he won't be playing next year either, stop letting Benji dictate to the club, we are regressing fast, and he is part of the problem not part of the solution

We should be happy Robbie retired, I'm sure pascoe had a contract ready for him.

He probably did to mate, but the sad fact is Farah was more deserving of a contract than Benji, neither should have got one

How are people suggesting Benji is personally influencing administrative or executive decisions?
Ivan brought him over and thankfully he fulfilled a service during desperate times.
Like others have commented, I think he would know his time, in the team, is coming to an end. I can understand any game criticism but stop misdirecting stuff that is ultimately up to the coach.

He doesn't know his time is coming to an end, he talks on FOX like he has sorted his issues after being dropped, he hasn't sorted jack, he still makes the same mistakes he has always made, but now he is slower and makes more mistakes
