The Cleanout

This is true… We hear rumours of Blair, But maybe there are another 3-4 High profilers floating about contention?? We don't know....

We need a gun full-back (I know I'm dreaming, Billy Slater or Michael Gordon), speedy winger (Daniel Vidot), back up centre (Dane Nielson) and Blair and I will be very happy.

We have some great juniors coming through be need to give them time to develop. Big jump from Under 20's to the grind of NRL week in week out.

I like Heightington as well and would love to keep him. Gives 100% and is rarely injured. I can see why Gould would want him.

Ryan tries hard but not NRL standard. Career in TV.

Need Blair aggression to compliment Galloway and Ellis.

Fulton in a dominent pack would be a great lock. Tackles all day long and has some ball skills.

Moltzen is a fine player but needs to move on so he can play 5/8 or half back his best positions. No chance at the WT. Plus $300,000.00 is overs for his ability and current worth to the team.

NRL is a business and unfortunately loyality won't win you competitions and attract sponsorship.

Anyone who wears a WT jersey and gives 100% of their ability has got my 100% support.

ELLIS TO CAPTAIN THE MIGHTY WESTS TIGERS in 2012\. What an inspirational player.

There has to be a plan that hasn't leaked just yet.

There is no way that this would be happening if it wasn't part of some medium to long term strategy.

We have seen that both Coach Sheens and Hump aren't big talkers in the media in relation to these sorts of events.

I will Keep the faith….

I agree with the basic theme of your post Alf being the need to rebuild parts of the team. The important thing will be who management signs to rebuild with, as others have said there must be a plan in place, if not it will be management that has to be rebuilt.

The current player group at the Tigers will not win a premiership ….I am just surprised it has taken so long to move some along this also includes Fafita he wanted 300 grand good luck to him did not want to stick around. As for the rest on the downside of there careers and obviously wanted by other clubs so good for them .At the club at the moment we have a young and talented group of players ready for action this is where the next premiership is! With a few experianced heads to be signed IMO the future looks good unfortunatly these times come around... as one said Bennett does it he is applauded ..Sheens does it the world is coming to an end. Bring on the good times I want new faces in this team because I want another premiership soon!

the current "cleanout" isnt for 2012 adam blair will be the only signing for 2012, 2013 is where the tigers are clearing room for. Also robert lui is likely to be heading north at years end there are 2 north of the border clubs currently in talks with the tigers about releasing robert but there could be a fullback headed to tiger town from up north if the deal goes through (as in a player trade)

Excellent first post.

Fifita is the only issue of intrigue.

If rumours floating around are true than Steve Folkes has to watch him like a hawk in regard to weight etc. If this is true and with the Sharks limited budget for trainers etc it will be interesting to see what happens.

I love Rhino as a player and would keep him as every team needs a soul and he has been ours for years. He has taken on so much putting up with others ineptitude and I would love to see what he could achieve with another top flight worker in Blair coming in.

Now this would make more sence to the other direct rumour relating to R Lui and the Broncos…

Great post. As they say; if you keep on doing things the same you'll get the same result and I'm sure that no-one on this forum wants the same results we've had the last few years.
Also agree re Farah. He's playing well below his best - maybe without the burden of the captaincy he'll return to his glory days. Watching him play this season, it's hard to believe that he's been close to winning the Daly M in previous years.

I reckon your 80% on the money!

**Fafita though come on man! He attracts defenders because they get palmed off, this makes for oportunity for the zippy guys to go for a bolt upfield, and he can score meat pies at close range. I know we can't have everything but average 1st grader is a bit harsh he is better than that!**

The other one I would argue for is Heighno, this one i reckon your half right  I see him as an honest 1st grader as well. However, he has the heart and guts of superstar, google "give it your all" or "never stop" and you will get back a picture of Heighno. I want him in my team every week. Even it is just to push or shame the blokes with more ability. He is a keeper.

While I know some of the members express doubts about the accuracy of NRL Stats, the comparison between Woods and Fifita for Sunday's game, shows:-

Aaron Woods 31 minutes 12 receives 12 runs (97m) 1 tackle break 13 tackles 1 error
Andrew Fifita 26 minutes 11 receives 7 runs (56m) 4 tackle breaks 13 tackles 2 errors

I have just gone through the tape of yesterday’s game again and Wood’s runs were straight and in the centre of the ruck. A lot of Fifita’s running was across field and wider of the ruck and of less effect for the team.
With all of the posturing by Fifita during the week, I would have expected a much more aggressive game from him. Looking at his last two games, I would find it hard to justify paying him $300,000 per year, so I would not stand in the way of the bucket of gold he has been offered.
Hopefully, the Club is in the position to retain the likes of BMM, Woods, Begovich and Groat into the future, as they may be better value at, initially, a somewhat lower price.

I still think the no 1 problem is Robbie Farah. His form in my opinion has been woeful.

As for the rest of the squad. I reckon Heighno deserves to stay and win another premiership. He has given this club great service and consistently does the hard yards. Fulton behind a dominant pack could also be extremely good but I think he is too much of a risk. I also think the club tried to get rid of him but no one wanted him. I was spewing when Fifita left but maybe it will be for the best.

We need a quality fullback with speed. Robbie to get into form. Benji to keep playing as he has been. A pack of forwards that are defensively solid and who grind out metres.

I think Lui and Moltzen need to be sorted out. Do we keep them ? if so where ?

I don't think this club is actually that far off. I still think if Robbie gets his game together we can be a force this year.

Josh Hoffman would be great,Copley maybe alright too, they do have a few,Beale,Gagai and Norman as well.

I agree with most of your post, howeber I would prefer to keep Heighington. I think he is better than a solid first grader.

If he was he would have played rep football by now.

I like Rhino but he is a notch below rep standard, and he is also at the back end of his career.

If heighno had a saints, manly or roosters jersey on he would have played origin already.Heighno is a very good first grader who must be kept.

Heighington and Farah have hit their career peaks and take up large salary cap space. It could be time to consider other options.

We had a team in the NYC grand final two years back and the team this year is entrenched in the 8\. Similar to the 2002 SG Ball Wests team, they will form our first grade squad in future around Marshall & Ellis.

I hope Robbie is reading this thread! Come on Robbie make us all eat some humble pie….

I hope he's not. It's disgusting how people can talk so much shit about him, he tries he's guts out each week, you can never question he's commitment to the team. It's not his fault the markers are getting away with not standing square, etc.

I wouldn't swap him for anyother no.9 in the game
