The end for the Weststigers

Split the teams.
Bring in Perth and/or another queensland team or NZ team/ or ??? and make NSW Cup a meaningful competition and have a relegation playoff. Only 1 extra team. At most 2.
The reason i decided to support this merged disaster is because we were promised a "super" team. It is no different to the worst of the Balmain teams ive supported (Maybe 1994?).
The extra money leading to an influx of poms should strengthen these weak teams so the standard shouldnt drop too much.
Plus its obvious the two teams arn't meant for each other. Balmain and Cambelltown??
Balmain 4 ever

You make some honest Valid points but as has been stated before, the Collingwood MAGPIES have over 70,000 members

They are the Biggest, widely followed football club in Australia

Not bad for a Magpies brand.

Magpies may not be relevant in 2013 in the NRL. But is has had a significant history and presence in Australian Rugby League.

The only way the Magpies brand could possibly be brought fully back into NRL would be a re-birth in Perth as the 'Western Australia Magpies' who could use Campbelltown based juniors to feed the NRL Side.

You seem to have some info knowledge on the wests side. Is this even a remote possibilty?

at the end of the day, the NRL/ARLC will have the final say on who operates the WT Franchise Agreement.

They might issue it to a third party?

AFAIK The money maker is the Ashfield Leagues club which is closer to ANZ than anywhere else. If there is an ownership structural change and a favourable stadium deal I can see an 8-4 split between ANZ and CSS.

I don't like the chances of a Magpies re-birth in Perth. We've already got two semi-competing bid teams, and although any branding would be an improvement on West Coast Pirates, I don't see them budging.

LOL they have been saying for years the sharks are going to fold, then they start winning now we are the worst team in the NRL and everyone thinks we are on the way out

WILL NOT HAPPEN

If the NRL see a chance of an NRL team re-locating to Perth they'll jump at it. The Pirates wont have a say.

Hello?? the sharks??? they have been talked about for about 10 years now moving to Perth it seems to be always the worst team in the NRL that always gets talked about to move to Perth

if any part of Balmain folds im done and done with the NRL and will no longer follow a team or the game

Perth needs a team, but good luck getting support for a re-locating team. The NRL would know as much, and I'd say there'd be two chances of moving one, buckleys and none.

I could see a merger split happening and Magpies relocating to Perth. They'll get good juniors in a great location too; perth is a nice place.

Wouldnt put money on it actually happening but that's the more likely scenario than wests tigers relocating.

**Farah calls for unity at Wests Tigers**

Captain Robbie Farah has called for unity at the Wests Tigers in the wake of chief executive Stephen Humphreys standing down from his post at the NRL club.

Behind-the-scenes machinations at the club continue to be dogged by in-fighting between the Balmain and Western Suburbs partners in the joint venture and the Tigers' disastrous onfield results and massive injury toll so far in 2013 haven't helped.

Farah said Humphreys informed him of his decision after the Tigers' 54-10 thrashing at the hands of South Sydney on Friday.

The NSW hooker said he was saddened to hear of the news and said the club needed to put their differences behind them and move on as one if they were to be successful.

"I would like to see us united," Farah told Triple M NRL.

"I know there's still that Balmain/Wests part of our club and they are fighting against each other.

"As a group, we have been around for 13 years and you go and ask a 10, 11-year-old who he supports and it's Wests Tigers. It's not Balmain - it's not Wests.

"For us to move forward, our future is Wests Tigers.

"While we still respect our past and appreciate both clubs and what they have done to bring us together, we are one group now - we are Wests Tigers - and we need to move forward in that fashion for us to be successful and I hope that we can."

Humphreys, who is expected to stay on until a replacement is found, said the decision was the right one for the Wests Tigers club.

"It's a big call and one I do with a heavy heart, but I'm doing it because it's in the best interests of the club," he told Fairfax Media.
"It's in that context that I make that difficult personal decision. Wherever I might end up, I'll always be looking out and trying to help out however I can."

Good onya Robbie, you tell em! Wonder if the stubborn old farts, supposedly running this club, will actually listen to the reasoned voice of the bloke who actually captains the team. Probably not :unamused:

Harsh reality is that the three home-ground balancing act was never meant to be a long term proposition. The current political/financial struggles have brought to a head all the issues that somehow have to be resolved.

That may be the most positive thing i've ever heard you say

But Cronulla dont want to re-locate. Do you believe that if Cronulla went to the NRL and proposed to re-locate to Perth the NRL would say no? Thats nuts,
I'm talking about if the Wests side get jack of Balmain having no money and go to the NRL proposing to fold up the JV and re-locate to Perth. The NRL would jump at it and the Pirates would have no say, Thats what my initial post was about.

If anyone thinks the wests tigers, magpies or balmain would relocate to Perth your kidding yourself people think the club is dying now see what happens if a relocation were to happen, all parties need to suck it up and get on with it,it is what it is now there's no going back and magpies going it alone is a pipe dream that won't happen either.

Wests Tigers is a joint venture of Balmain and Wests, it's a collaboration between two clubs on the NRL stage. To make it work, both clubs need to contribute, both clubs need equal representation in the Wests Tigers identity. Simple. …but still not simple enough for some fans to grasp the concept.

The joint venture has been anything but equal, Wests kick in more coin, Balmain get the branding, colours, the juniors, players to their NSW Cup side.. I could go on.. ...but to keep it simple for simple folk, if a mate an I collaborate and buy a carton of beer, each chipping in 50% of the total cost, we have a discussion about what type of beer we want and then split it equally. If and mate and I buy a carton of beer but the costs are split 80/20 the partner who contributes the least doesn't get to choose the type of beer and may only have a few beers rather than half the carton.

So how about the Balmain folk show some humility and gratitude to their Wests brothers for keeping them and the joint venture afloat? Without Wests there would be no Balmain. Full stop.

There is no Wests and there is no Balmain in any form of relevance in the modern game. Full Stop

Simple solution would be for NRL to kick out the agitated Tigers and Wests member of the board and replace them with Wests Tigers ticketed members who are independent of Tigers or Wests..
