The end for the Weststigers

Ah, what rubbish. Wests Tigers is a JOINT VENTURE between the Western Suburbs and Balmain clubs. Totally relevant. If it wasn't relevant, why is Balmains inability to pay the bills such a problem huh?

…fix the representation problems in the joint venture and a lot of the discontent you see in these forums would disappear.

If the NRL steps in and restructures it will cease to be so and every busted down old fossil can piss right off as the mighty Wests Tigers continue to forge their own history

It is only relevant because the board won't show a set and make the tough calls

Forget Balmain and Wests for Christs sake the only future is the Wests Tigers

Why would the NRL step in? It's an internal struggle, two clubs sorting out a financial issue. Wests Tigers isn't it's 'own entity', it's the two clubs combining their resources, branding, fans, juniors and so on to create a joint identity. Without the 'busted down old fossils' what have we got at this point in time? Some teenagers who only know the Wests Tigers? Fine. Betcha the money spinners for the club aren't the kids, it's parents like me who fork out coin on the merch, tickets, memberships etc.

How about we show some respect to our own past?

The NRL would step in for a gross failure of corporate governance.

One of the NRL's growing powerhouses reduced to a bumbling rabble hemorrhaging money at a great rate and being involved in what is akin to two men in their 90's trying to tell the one grandchild how to live their life except that grandchild has it's own life and purpose. While they appreciate everything the old men did the past is theirs, the future is not.

My respect for the people who built two great foundation clubs is being slowly eroded by a pack of lowlifes on the Wests Tigers board who have no interest in the present or the future unless it relates to their slant on the past. It is utterly pathetic

I have heaps of respect for my past I was a Magpie supporter from the age of 6

But I understand it is the past ,but even more than that I understand the Wests Tigers are the future and if we keep dragging Balmain and Wests up eventually there will be no more Wests Tigers

We need a completely independant board that hasn't been tainted by the Magpies or Balmain in any way shape or form and sole concern is the WT's

Hard to respect the past when many involved from the past, and in charge of the future dont seem to respect it…only seeking to better themselves

This crap has to stop.I think this is a great opportunity for it to happen. It took me almost 3 years to even watch an NRL game 2000-2003 cause I lost all faith in game it's structure and of course my team back then but guess what I got over it and both sides fans don't need this crap again.Wests Tigers it is for life!!!

You make some honest Valid points but as has been stated before, the Collingwood MAGPIES have over 70,000 members

They are the Biggest, widely followed football club in Australia

Not bad for a Magpies brand..

Collingwood could be called the Collingwood Pink Pansies and still have the support they do.

Their size has NOTHING to do with the Bird.

The generational support they have based on their immensely successful history, which involves having been Grand Finalists in 41 of 116 seasons of the VFL/AFL is why they are who they are.

Agreed. I'm forward thinking and think Wests Tigers is the future, just think it's too soon to disregard the past entirely. This means the joint venture needs to be VERY aware of it's roots and ensure both parent clubs have equal representation as per the 50/50 agreement. Neither side should be favoured, black is the common colour so let's embrace it and have white and orange as the minor colours (looks as though this has been address in the 2014 jersey). Home games at Leichardt and Campbelltown only. Blocker, Benny, Siro, And Tommy aren't Wests Tigers legends, players like Skando and Farrah are.. Wests Tigers board should come out and smash blokes like Benny when they make divisive comments like those last week..

Magpies may not be relevant in 2013 in the NRL. But is has had a significant history and presence in Australian Rugby League.

The only way the Magpies brand could possibly be brought fully back into NRL would be a re-birth in Perth as the 'Western Australia Magpies' who could use Campbelltown based juniors to feed the NRL Side.

They're also the only football club where there majority of their supporters have no teeth! :roll

Last comment about the unanimous support for Potter

About a month left I'm guessing

:frowning: i took that positively…

things seem to be looking up for us in the long term if we can overhaul the board and fire those 4-7 non-performers. Hopefully we've hit the bottom against souths and we pick up from here.

If hitting rock bottom on the filed results in getting a truly unified board then I can at least cop the bad times knowing the good times are round the corner.

Yeah it is the kiss of death for coaches.

This trying to bring in the NRL on their own terms smacks of a board trying to cover up and save their own arses. Look like you are trying but sit there treading water.

I am openly cynical about the Wests Tigers board though

Collingwood are a good team when they're playing on song…... it's just that dreaded month of September which haunts them! LOL  Sorry if you're a Collingwood supporter Happy, I feel for you  but I needed to brighten up the tone of this thread somehow and a bit of supporter banter at Collingwoods expense was too tempting to ignore!
