The end for the Weststigers

What i don't understand is all this paranoia about Wests Ashfield - from what i have read on here they are very much behind the Wests Tigers remaining as a football and business entity - i believe that if the board is restructured to a more independent model Wests Ashfield as the major financial contributor outside of the NRL would want to have input as to who makes up that board - and that doesn't mean stacking it with Wests fogeys.

I think Wests Ashfield would give a good and honest account of providing the club with the sufficient means to operate in a competitive marketplace… I just hope they realise the Wests Tigers FC needs a solid CEO and they give this person the suitable autonomy to drive the WT Brand forward.

Chillax.

Wests Ashfield and Wests Campbelltown won't let the Wests Tigers brand be dissolved. It's all that matters to them. Ashfield has made no secret that it wants to own it. The Magpies football club view is irrelevant.

Wests Tigers ain't going anywhere.

I think it was posted on here once before,or at least I read it somewhere, that Wests Campbelltown give exactly $0 towards the Wests Tigers NRL side of things. Can anyone verify that?

Dunno where you got that info from mate.

When the Wests Tigers make a loss for any given financial year the loss needs to be funded by the Balmain Group (50%) and the Wests Group (50%). Wests Campbelltown's share works out to be 17% of the overall loss (Balmain group 50%, Ashfield 33%). I would say this is based on how many seats they have on the Wests Tigers board. If no loss is made then they don't need to contribute. Annual reports can be found at http://www.westslc.com.au/page/annual_reports_2012.html
Interesting that the Wests Tigers budgeted for a surplus for the current financial year!

The Wests Magpies State cup side was previously funded by Wests Ashfield in full. Wests Campbelltown never put a cent in but covered the funding for the junior league in Campbelltown.

Reading through this thread and all the calls of unity from the board ,how can we expect that at the board level when the fans can't even agree and bicker amongst themselves about who puts in what and who saved who, thought we were one obviously not.

Unity HAS to come from the board, not from us.
The club represents itself by having home games at LO and CSS, has it heritage jerseys as Balmain and Wests (instead of our 2000 or 2005 jersey) and has its state cup team wear Balmain and Wests jerseys. They then want us to get behind the wests tigers as one club?!?!?
They tell us to do one thing but they themselves cant do it. I would say only the GWS do a worse job in proffessional sport in Aus of sending mixed messages to their fans.

The merger are now paying the price for not embracing the supporters from the west. The short term monetary gain from playing games at the SFS for a guaranteed gate was the biggest mistake the merger has made. Home ground advantage is not only paramount in today's NRL games, but it is important in building your supporter base.

I don't think thats it at all - some forum members are looking only at the football side of WT while others have focused more on the corporate side. The corporate side is a nightmare that probably wasn't foreseen when the merger started and i think people are only pointing out the problems associated with taking the simplistic approach of just saying Wests and Balmain don't exist and that we are just Wests Tigers.

Hardly the end…. though hopefully ushers in a new beginning.

Hopefully the NRL steps in and audits the club in every aspect. Things obviously arent working at present, external evaluation and advice is sorely needed. Lets hope when all is said and done, the short term turmoil can eventually bring us a business model more suited to running a professional sports team
