The Mbye Conundrum

I imagine it was only because he was playing injured that they moved him in the first place.
If LM does come then he stays at centre.

I thought being replaced at fullback was because they signed the premier fullback in the competition.. could be wrong .

Thommo and jennings on the wing and move on Nofo for some cash

**How big is Nofa’s contract?**

I had the feeling mid 400's , it was when he had that major form kick and Parra were chasing him

get rid of nofo or offer a trade to melbourne for JAC like suggested earlier

You say that like Noffa has no say in the matter. Like he’s a chess piece.

Don't think so Snake.
Replaced by Corey Thompson.:joy:

Maybe cause I like the bloke ,
But until we see what our go forward is like with our current pack,we need Nofa he is the only one who makes a dent

Trade our Jnr, the guy that bleeds Wests?
Nah. We've got $$$ pay the damn transfer

i dont understand some on here dont like mmbye a proven origin performer and are happy to try and move him along yet Nofo issues are made when we look at him. i think he is a good winger but he is someone another team might go for remember parra made a good play at him a few years ago

Nofo is a first grade quality player at the core of any culture that WT are trying to build and most think is our best shot at competing regularly. Even if JAC loves the club half as much as David, you don't cut off your nose to spite your face when he is already bringing more than most.

I don't see either of them sorting out our problem at the back, but in the absence of a fullback signing, given his early form at WT and injury hampered start to last year, I would be giving Mbye the one jersey to start the year. Particularly so if Talau is thought of as being ready to take up the center role.

Edit; That doesn't mean that I do not appreciate the effort or ability of Thompson and if he is good enough to make the side as a winger, I would be happy to further explore their rotation of last season in attack and defence.

I didn’t realise. That’s gotta be close to top dollar for a winger. RL loses a few wingers to RU for that reason imo.

Wasn't long after that Souths game when he had 10 offloads and was simply unbelievable

I love Nofoaluma's passion , but I reckon injuries have stolen that yard of pace that would make him a good finishing winger

I can't see him as the bloke that will have a 15-20 try season

Stats can ruin a good player. I’ve seen him break a few tackles and run 30mts but play the ball on the same spot.
I like having Nora in the team too. I loved the try he scored when confronted by Best on the sideline. He had to leave the field of play to get around the big guy. Left Best wondering where did he go?

Yeah that or the fact he couldn’t catch to save his life. If he is at fullback it’s bombs away

To be fair Glenn that was mainly an issue early in the year when he came back from injury and he wasn't 100% right. It wasn't from my memory an issue in 2018. If we don't sign LM or AJ i'd be tempted to give him a go at 1 again IMO.

Agree with a lot above. No deal for Nof though!!! Whoever said that’s having a laugh. I’d imagine the coach and recruitment manager pushing Jennings’ and Momi as potential trades

I think he's on too much coin to be a centre, and I actually think we have better options on less money there.

9 would be obvious choice for me, but is he up to the defensive workload, and how slick is his service from dummy half?

Can't for the life of me remember if he has any decent toe either...

Maybe, and I can see your point of view but how often does a successful team go back and say “you know what, let’s try that again and see if it works THIS time”?

Additionally we need to look at the opportunity cost. Thompson does a good job at fullback. At centre we have options of Mbye, Momo, Talau and (god forbid) Jennings. Mbye is best option defensively by a long stretch. IMO in attack Mbye and Momo are on a par in attack with Mbye having a better pass on him. Talau is totally un proven at NRL level

I get where you're coming from, I just hope if we don't sign anyone he gets another shot at fullback and we see 2018 Mbye again. He was really good for us that year.
