The penalty goal at the end

Good decision.

Even if the Eels had regathered from the kickoff, we were 3 points ahead and could have given penalties away with impunity. We could have laid all over the ruck and denied them quick play the balls without worrying about the damage of any ensuing penalties. There is no way they would have scored on the back of slow play the balls. I'm sure we would have got away with it.

This is football…Funny thing is, I see Brooks stepping up and spreading the word, not Anasta... the kid is all over the game.

When was the last time any side had a kicker that could slot it over from halfway?, remember the semi final against the Raiders in Canberra where Croker failed at 35 metres, awesome Pat.

All he had to do was kick it dead or kick a goal

We wasted 55 seconds taking the shot

When you think about it by kicking the goal the Eels had to score to win

And then they had to rely on Sandow getting a kick right after he had 1/4

Good call imo

Good call, we might have knocked on and given them an opportunity to take a FG to level it. But this way they could only score to win and at most give them one play of a short kickoff

Maybe someone on here could confirm, but I think I recall a pre hip injury Conlon kicking one at Leichhardt from about fifty five out and a dozen or so metres in from touch that sailed over at the Bay end.

I wasn't convinced, I am surprised if Patty really took 55 seconds with the kick, they keep stopping the clock now.

Eels had a full minute left on the clock with the second restart.

I would have tucked it under the arm and worked it into the corner - not even go for a repeat set (risk of kicking it dead) but instead run it on the 5th into the corner or drill it into touch.

The kick is a little confusing, but with the defense of the eels and the poor 5th tackle options we had all day, maybe the kick and wasting of time there (although we didn't get as much as possibly expected), it may very well and was, the best option in the end.

I called the play at the time as a way of winding down the clock and was surprised he didn't take longer to kick it actually. As others have said they then would of had to score a try to beat us.

Not quite on topic but did anyone else see Thompson and one other having a go at Tapau for letting Semi R run it closer to the posts?

Also Anasta had to get the ref to stop the clock when sandow was lining up the last kick. He walk out of the in goal pointing to his wrist. In the end it work out for us but you still hope they get it right.

Take the two was my call …. Good decision as it turned out.

Same… but I could easily see our squad falling to pieces with every man trying too hard to stop a breakaway leaving the line in ruins...

At best it was a line call.

I think it was a good call. If successful it took the field goal option to tie it up and go to golden point away from the Cowboys. To win they would need to score a try. If it missed it would be a 20mtr drop out, I had no doubt Richards would kick it dead.

We could have given them the opportunity for another go, there were not that good yet, otherwise they could have won with a foot in the air. They had 79 minutes to do it but failed. you think they could have done it in 1 minute when they failed to have done it in 79 minutes! It was all hypothetical and I think they have over rated themselves at this stage and we went in without our gun playes like Farah, our captain,Tedesco our speedy full back, Fulton our rock solid defend second rower and Sironen our very capable 5/8 cum second rower. We also had an ordinary game, but did not win pretty.
