The punters/Tim Grant

Hopefully Souths are paying part of his wage. It would be nice to be on the receiving end of a subsidized player instead of having to fork out for blokes for years after they had left us ie Gibbs, Fifita, Beau and the rest.

NRL: South Sydney prop Tim Grant could be headed to the Wests Tigers next week

SOUTH Sydney prop Tim Grant could be training at Concord as soon as next week after reportedly telling his Rabbitohs teammates he is leaving the club.

The 27-year-old is the latest player to come onto the NRL market in a crazy off-season of transfers and expected to be headed to the Wests Tigers.

Fox Sports understands Grant is poised to sign a three-year deal, which will significantly bolster the Wests Tigers forward pack.

Grant was thought to be a casualty of Sam Burgess’ move back to the Rabbitohs in order to fit the club under the salary cap, but after losing Dylan Walker to Manly and Chris McQueen to the Titans they were keen to hold on to him.

However, it appears the writing was already on the wall and Grant has made his decision to try his luck at a third NRL club.

A Penrith local, Grant played his junior football for the Panthers and spent seven years in first grade before he was picked up by the Rabbitohs for the 2015 season.

Grant played 21 games for the Rabbitohs in 2015, most of which were from the bench.

A deal with the Wests Tigers is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Fox sports reporting it will happen today

It would be like Keith Galloway has never left , don't think a great deal of money would of been spent in getting Tim Grant over to us…..he knows a good opportunity would represent to him in being in the 17 week in week out.

I think the main difference is Grants leg drive and athletic mobility.

Keith was great early only but gradually lost his meter eating ways and just looked slow.

Interchange reduction will help Grants game.good fit mobile forward.just what we need.

Really hope he can re-gain form, we would have the Origin front row

8\. Woods
9\. Faffs
10\. Grant

I bloody love Keithy, i remember firing him up before a few games in 2014, fired him up before the dogs game and he had an absolute blinder 220 meters, will always be my favourite player to ever pull on a NRL jersey, absolute monster.Unfortunately injuries really got to him and slowed him down, with age being another major factor. Would love to have him back for one more season before he retires even if its just in state cup.

Why didn't you keep on him every other week   .

I really hope that this is true and it sounds like it is. We were desperate for a front rower.

I reckon we could surprise in the upside next year. A decent pack, some real talent in the backs and depth as well.

If he's been training with them is there a reason they are waiting to announce it?

Any chance he may have to pass a medical before we sign him

Then again I haven't seen players having to do public medicals like that

good news.

hopoate was training with the dogs before they announced him coming. maybe its just a paperwork issue with it being christmas break all staff might not be back. but either way could this be the mystery prop sheens was on about back in the day

From the club

"Wests Tigers sign Tim Grant

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that Tim Grant has joined the Club for the coming two seasons.

Grant, 27, has played 144 NRL games since making his debut for the Penrith Panthers in 2007.

He joins Wests Tigers from the South Sydney Rabbitohs where he played 20 games during the 2015 season. Grant also played two State of Origin games for New South Wales in 2012.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Grant to the Club ahead of the 2016 season.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Tim to Wests Tigers,” said Pascoe. “It’s great to have a player of his experience join the Club and I’m sure he’s going to be an asset to us both on and off the field.

“I was fortunate enough to walk the Kokoda Track two years ago with Tim and see first-hand examples of what makes him such an outstanding young man.

“Tim brings a great attitude to this Club and I’m sure he’ll fit in well and will quickly become a favourite amongst Members and fans,” he said. “Tim joins us on very favourable terms which is also beneficial for the Club.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Jason Taylor said that he was looking forward to working with Grant with the start of the 2016 season quickly approaching.

“With almost 150 NRL games under his belt Tim brings to Wests Tigers a degree of experience that will be a great benefit to our pack,” said Taylor. “I’ve been very impressed with him during our initial discussion and I look forward to seeing him get to work with his new team mates.

Tim Grant said that he was looking forward to getting into training, just hours after signing with Wests Tigers.

“There’s no gains in sitting around, I just want to get out there and get into training with the boys and get to know them,” said Grant. “It’s an exciting young roster, there are a lot of guys there who are ready to hit their straps and a new leadership group with Aaron Woods leading the way and I think we have a bright future ahead of us here.

“I looked at the roster here at Wests Tigers and I was excited to join the Club, I’m looking forward to getting to know the players and getting out onto the field,” he said.

Great Work. 2 years is perfect length too!

My guess the spokesperson for information and media is not back at Camp Concord till Monday. So my guess we can expect a press release or a conference early next week.

I like this signing, once again we have targeted a player for a position we are short on stock, this was not always the case in the past. Moss and Taylor have recruited very well with virtually no budget. A class back like Copley would be the icing on the cake, but Iam pretty happy with the roster we now have
