Melbourne really rubbed it in back then. Lament away.

You know it’s not just our club that this sort of thing happens to, though the media will lead you to believe we are the only ones.
Damien Cook and Michael Liccha were both behind Michael Ennis at the Dogs, so the Dogs let Cook walk because they preferred Liccha and then Ennis left to join the Sharks anyway, and won the Premiership with them the same year.
Never once have I heard commentators say oh wow the Dogs made a huge mistake letting Ennis & Cook go and lambasting them for it like they do WT about both Tedesco and Papenhyuzen leaving.
Oh and here’s just a small list of the players that the Cowboys have let slip through their fingers in recent years also - Kaylyn Ponga, Jahrome Hughes, Felise Kaufusi, Brandon Smith & Viliame Kikau. I’m sure they could use some of these guys right about now.
If it were a level playing field I would agree. It is not as we know and the impact of the loss of Papenhuyzen is immense. I write that because Tedesco was gone. He was not interested in remaining a WT.
