The Wests Tigers Lament Thread

It happens to every club, a junior that gets stuck behind others or passed up on that goes on to do great things elsewhere. Bennett famously passed up on Thurston, the Bulldogs backed Brent Sherwin over him, and we all know what he went on to do.

Cameron Smith couldn't get a gig at Broncos.

Isn’t there 500 other threads to talk about Paps lol

Yes it is the "Lament" thread.

Tired of the Paps story hijacking this and some other threads.

Lament. Thread = hide the embarrassments

No mate - it is a place for people who can't get over previous issues and want to
flog a dead horse to the point even it's bones are dust and have blown away.

However they are still bashing the ground with a stick.

Is it possible to cross-check forum users against keywords? And if so, will I get 1,200 hits of paws mentioning how we lost Papenhuyzen?

Pretty sure you can search by words and users. Quick search shows 91 posts, that cannot be right.

Do you think it would be as low as that jirskyr?

We have Pride!

When we play, so many games I get off my chair screaming at the TV/Radio/mobile phone. I saw Benji, Pat Richards, Farah, Tim Moltzden, Teddy, Beau Ryan, Chris Lawrence etc do absolute Freaky things with the ball. I love our team.

Yea, were not in the finals. That's sad. But were still great to watch, play with heart and effort (while making the worst mistakes of any team). I love our team, yea get in the 8 again but guys keep being entertainment machines.

Seeing his name so often certainly has helped me spell his name properly.

Nothing compared to some others. The amount of times 851 references Marshall would break the search function.

Not a lament
But how good is it seeing Korobeite tear it up for the wallabies time aftertime

Amazing player

I have better things to do than watch rugby. Actually there was both grass growing and paint drying available at my place today, I chose an hour of each.

Momo i guess?

I can't wish Momirovski back for the reason he is holding down a centre position at the Grandfinalists. We made the mistake of rating Joey Leilua ahead of him which was always going to end in tears. The case of a solid consistent player outperforming an enigmatic player.

In all honesty, there is really only one thing that saddens me about the West’s Tigers.
I can handle the dropped balls, the moving on of solid players, the missed opportunities etc. they are all simply mistakes. Easily understood and forgiven.
However, the real tragedy is that we have lost our esprit de corps.
I know previous coaches have recognised the loss and made attempts to regain it and failed.
I would like to think the returning of Benji and Robbie was an indication.
I’m envious of other teams like Panthers, Roosters, Raiders, Storm which play like teams playing for each other, seemingly playing for a higher purpose than what appears on the scoreboard. Where has our heart and soul gone? Our players don’t seem to know each other. Where’s our team spirit? We need to find that more than anything else.

We have had a number of stuttered team rebuilds since Sheens left but I think this rebuild is going to work.

We now have a much more solid forward pack with some good young guys lurking in the background. We have the makings of a better spine and have added some, not much, pace to the team.

Our recruitment team have targeted talented young guys instead of wasting money on ageing journeymen. Plus, we still have money in the cap and a few bad contracts coming to an end.

We are still a year or two off being regular finalists and need one or two top line signings to achieve that aim but I can see light.

I can also see the Simpkin(s), Tuki and Jake, being critical to this team later in the season.

I honestly think that all our major problems stem back to after the GF win in 2005,although we have had problems since the JV began....
We had a board who were split instead of united, poor coaching and player appointments,Ceos who werent qualified enough to take hold of the business and when they did board intervention caused them failure...
Although we havent reached the finals in a decade, there is light at the end of the tunnel...gone are the days of the boys club, poor recruitment decisions, jobs for friends and the boys...
we finally have a hard knowledgeable coach and our admin are a lot more professional than previous years albeit M.GO did some sorting out...
We are on course to see finals in the not to distant future maybe 2/3 years and we will constantly be in the top 4/8...
As many of us can see we are still feeling the effects of poor judgement and Im not having a go at the players but Ivans spending spree is still effecting us atm....

So too Kelma Tuilagi!

Just on a few players that have been recently available on the market ....
Glad we missed Saab, Mansour and McInnes, but "lament" not having a bigger dig at Frizell or Burton.
