Final Four: jersey design competition

Wests Tigers have reached the next stage of the Design our Women in League Jersey competition, following the thousands of votes that flooded in on social media.

Jersey A, B, C and F have made it through to the next round due to their overwhelming popularity, with samples now to be created of each design.

There was a huge response in the voting polls, with supporters having their say through various social media platforms, including the Wests Tigers official Social Network.

Designer of Jersey A, Penelope Astridge said that the competition was a chance to show off her skills as a Creative Designer.

“To have the opportunity to design something for a big company like this is great, its something I will definitely use in my portfolio.” Astridge said.

Jersey B was sent in by Andrew Bulmer, who jumped at the chance to design a Wests Tigers jersey.

“Being a life-long Wests Tigers fan I thought it was a great initiative by the club to let the fans design a jersey,” Bulmer said.

“I thought it would be cool to have the traditional V style as a pink jersey.”

Along with jersey A, design C was a front-runner on social media, which is something designer Wade Stewart was a little surprised by.

“I actually had two jerseys in the final six,” Stewart said.

“I was just hoping that I got one in, but to get two was great.”

Wade’s other design was Jersey D, the pink alternative of C, did not make the final four designs.

The remaining of the four, Jersey F, belongs to Queensland resident Simon Lilley who wanted his entry to commemorate the Balmain Tigers 1939 Grand Final win.

The club will now produce samples of these four jerseys and have the players model them to help us decide on the winner.

The samples are due in at the end of next week, with our final design to be chosen before the kick-off of round one.

Wests Tigers General Manager, Grant Mayer said that the overwhelming success of the competition is an indication of where the club is heading with fan engagement initiatives in the future.

“With the massive response we received from our fans we are strongly considering going with this type of competition for the 2014 home kit,” Mayer said.

“It may be that we will put it to our Members to enter their design as it will be a great incentive to get on board with the club.”

“We debated long and hard about the Women in League Jersey Design but the success of the initiative has given us confidence that it will be highly successful in 2013.”

The players also had their say via Social Media, with club captain Robbie Farah selecting “Jersey B”, Benji Marshall voting for “Jersey A” and Aaron Woods voting for Jersey "F".

The public will get to see what the final four designs look like on a player when the boys model the jerseys next week.

This thing just keeps getting bigger and bigger. At first I thought they would look at the entries and pick. Then we had the voting, which I thought would decide the winner. And now we have another round. What next?

Got a call saying mine didnt make the top 4\. Was offered 1 ticket to the game on Saturday as a consulation.
Told they are going to produce the remaining 4 designs and have the players wear them, then obviously there will be more voting.

lol Ink, I vote for B. I read somewhere that fans will design the 203 home jersey. Any truth to this?

Not 2013, maybe 2014, it may happen but it may not:

Craegus and NZTiger are too modest to say anything but I think I would speak for most of the forum at being disappointed neither of you got a look in in the pink jersey competition - especially as your designs were far better than some of the original selections.

I think the owner of 'F' has just knocked himself out

 That is for sure! Once anyone mentions one of the two "foundation club swear words" they have signed their death warrant :sign:

Jersey A….
its not too over the top... and still promote WIL...

I think it's way under designed, and I can almost guarantee (especially with some of the comments with this years alternate) will end up with the, and I quote, "I'm not spending $160 on a white t-shirt with a tiny bit of pink and sponsors on it" comments going for weeks. At least the other 3 have a bit going on and are more jersey worthy.

The one with the "V" on it is pretty good but I reckon it should have just been an exact replica of our 2000 jersey with the pink added for the "V". That would of looked alright.

Yeh, you can guarantee a few comments like that, dunno about ''for weeks'' tho, I can almost guarantee a few will most likely love it as well

And with that being said, I just threw these together as my first 2014 Jersey concepts:
