Interesting concept and I don’t disagree. It appears that mediocrity has been an acceptable goal for far too long. I can recall a 7 game losing streak but there were no players crying and the world wasn’t coming to an end as past Broncos view their recent situation.

Look fellas, I'll be pretty honest here, that game gutted me, really made me question my faith in the club. These are professional footballers, this is what they do for a living, there was about $9 million worth of football talent on display and that is what they put up.
How many times have we heard Madge say "ownership of performance" and "everyone being accountable", times up, hold them accountable.I don't care if he drops the whole team, just make them accountable.
I know I sound like one of those morbid and negative supporters that are happier when we lose type and have nothing positive to say about the team. I'm not, I believe in this team, and put my money where my mouth is each week, but last nights performance made me accept the fact that nothing changes, our one constant is inconsistency and we are just not good enough to play at an elite level. Time to see if I can still get the cash out option for the tigers to be Top 8, Top 4 and Premiers.

I feel your pain. As i blatantly refuse to watch another NRL game at the SCG, i watched from the comfort of my loungeroom last night.

In doing so, i saw the Fox footage of Maguire's half-time rant at the players, including kicking his chair into oblivion. Some of the body language/reactions of the players were not of "fear" or "disppointment" ...... it seemed more like "who is this fruitloop?"

The outcome .....we lost the second half 18-6 against a team that, by their own admission, had nothing to play for.

I only hope that Maguire has a Plan B or C or D in trying to get the best out of his players. Becasue, his default Plan A of rant, and scream and intimidate, has already worn thin I think.

Sulking pussies, they should get over it and do their job. I hope Maguire stays on as coach and doesn’t change his desire to win. The acceptance of mediocrity is a contagious disease. I have never seen a more disgracefully immature display from men who call themselves professional rugby league players. Those players know who they are and should not be in the side next week.

The only way you remove mediocrity is to remove the cause... a massive clean out is required not a claytons clean out but a turnover of the losers and bludgers .. and that can start this season only one should be resigned from the unsigned !

Not sure where I posted that the team needs Oli Clark and Eiso in the pack. I only saw 20-25 minutes of last night's game (thank the Lord!) as had family over for dinner. I did not see Clark on the field in that time. The only forward I saw who was not getting rolled over in that time was Shawn Blore. So glad we nabbed him.

So please forgive my error. I don't have dementia - just did not see Clark on the field in the time I watched the game. Take care everyone. The fat lady hasn't sung yet, but she is doing some warm up vocals.

Very true rusty! The way to approach is the same way you would grow your vegetable garden. Regularly remove the weeds one at a time while spreading the fertiliser. When you notice the job gets easier is not the time to slacken off, because the weeds will reappear and beat you. This appears to be Maguire approach.?

Last nights game destroyed me, the complete lack of effort and lack of pride (professional or otherwise) stunned me and I'm sad to say but I agree with you Rusty. The Benji and Brooks thing was just a show for the press, swapping like for like. After last night, sack 5 or 6, if Madge wants to send a message that everyone is accountable, make sure they hear it and actually make them accountable. I'd rather see Madden, Smith, Hoffman, Cini and the new kiddie from the Roosters get a nod, at least they would have a go, not like that rubbish last night.

Never the less, one always starts the season with hope that one’s assessment is wrong. It truly is the triumph of hope over expectation.

As the season progresses one continues to look for reasons to believe – a good win here; a gritty loss to a powerful opponent there. Hope springs eternal.

But there comes the moment, as it inevitably must, when one’s hopes are dashed; when the bitter truth is revealed, which simply confirms what one knew deep down all along. We just aren’t good enough.

For me that moment came last night. From now on each loss (of which I expect many) will invoke in me, not anger and upset, but a certain numbness, which I assume is the way the mind copes with continual disappointment and distress.

We are all very familiar with the Wests Tigers’ supporters lament “there is always next season”. Next season - and the process will begin all over again.

lets be real though, its impossible because we are a business first, football club second. you cant just clear a team out.

My biggest gripe is i think an incredibly simple one that needs to change asap and that should really have been addressed on Madge's first day (who i still think is the right and best coach we've had in years) - we need a CAPTAIN.

And i mean a REAL captain. a player who is vocal, who leads by the front, who pulls teammates up when not performing, who doesn't hug and smile with their opposition after a loss at the final whistle (oh my goodness how that s*!ts me up the wall). someone who bleeds for the club they play for. a LEADER.

We don't have this. and it shows desperately.

I dont know about you, but in my younger days when i played league and union, when i had a captain who gave it their all and who i respected, i would play my guts out for them and the team....but maybe that's lost nowadays in the current generation....

Having had a night to sleep on it...I have to say that this one really stings.

Mainly because it means YET AGAIN our entire season will be remembered for losing to the cellar dwellers. We have had tons of improvement, have a nice young core of a pack, and several players are having their best seasons.

But the entire off season will be "Tigers failed again, how did they lose to the Titans (who had not won in a calendar year) and the Warriors (who had 4 players leave the country and two blokes not even know everyone's name yet!'.

That will be the entire off season...and our media people will wheel out Madge and whoever the new captain is and go through the whole "the new wests tigers don't do that' cliched dribble again.

I just want to move past all that and have a team that is known for toughness and aiming at the top 4. Manly were a rabble 3 years ago. Now they are known as tough and aiming for the top 4 each year.

Sharks are decimated and have a terrible roster this year...still winning and, led by Graham, play tough.

Yet we are stuck in the same spot.

Honestly, did anyone think we had turned the corner? Did we think Madge was some kind of magician able to turn this lot around? With all his ranting, the players never looked like winners, in that second half it was a re-run of the horror show seen far too often. If players can't respond that what the coach wants them to do, then there are probably reasons, that need to be addressed by those in charge. This is now what we've become - the mediocrity in the NRL. Best we can do is hope for next year. Hope for a change. But ground hog day is curse hard to shake for us all.
