Tigers $3.5m Roster Plan

When you consider current form, possible upside and how easy it would be to replace a certain player, then Teddy and Moses are miles ahead as priorities over Woods and Brooks.

If we lost both Woods and Brooks it wouldnt be the worst thing that could happen. They both can be replaced. Yeh maybe we wont get a better frontrower than Woods, but im sure we can find one for half the price that gets quicker play the balls. Im not saying he should be discarded, of course i want to keep him, but at the right price and not at the expense of any young gun.

And if Brooks was to go, the idea of throwing Moses the 7 and giving him control of the team with a big solid 5/8 like Littlejohn has some merit. Littlejohns control in the games i saw last year in NSW cup was great. He's a firstgrader IMO when he has an x factor half with him, which he would in Mitch.

Bottom line, we must keep Tedesco and Moses. The other two would be a bonus.

X2!!

King Siro sums up the situation well. I would like to see all four signed and I have a funny feeling Brooks is going to have a very good 2017 after what can only be described as a average season last year, but as King Siro said Teddy and Moses are the ones we need as a priority.

It has to be remembered there are a lot of quality players up for grabs in 2018, so finding the odd quality player if needed will not be as hard as in previous seasons

Agree Teddy and Moses are the priority but IMO Wood's is just as important, he is our captain, SOO and a test player, he makes big metres, has the ability to offload the ball and the team lifts when he is on the park.

I'm thinking the breakdown is something like…

Teddy - $1.2 million
Moses - $800k
Woods - $800k
Brooks - $700k

Hoping Brooks plays for what he's worth this season.

If they want to stay at the club I am confident they will accept what is offered. If they have doubts about anything then it really doesn't matter what we offer they will be on their way.
They are waiting for something - don't think it is about money they know they will all get offered healthy
contracts where ever they end up. For our part the sooner its sorted the better and I suspect that those
dealing with it are well aware of where the players
heads are at.

Can front rowers really get paid $800k?

Woods,Teddy and Moses would be my first options to fork money out to….If Brooks wants to command big money, then this year he has to have a standout year,he has had plenty of time to understand what's needed at this level...as many have said before,a lot of very, very good kids dominate NYC,but can't graduate to the big arena...time will tell....

It's interesting that Taylor indicated he wanted to keep all 4, and there was an offer for each of them to take up immediately. If I were Brooks, I'd put my hand up while the offering is good, but he may back himself for a better 2017 and better money.

I suspect Teddy & Woods will re-sign first and Broses will play the Ayoub "show me the money".

Another article today about the Roosters and their own big-budget issues for retaining players. There's going to be an article on every club within the next few months, given the large # of players off contract.

Re Woodsie, I agree he is lower priority than Tedesco and probably equal with Moses. I agree that generally speaking, props are easier to replace than young up-and-coming halves, but let's also be frank Moses has had 1 good season total, it could all fall apart this year, whereas Woods is a consistent performer.

For the criticism about slow PTBs and not angry enough - the bloke is about to turn 26 and will still be in his prime years for the next contract. He is the first prop picked for NSW and starting front row for Australia, has played 11 Origins and 9 Tests. Only Farah has those kind of rep numbers for Tigers and let's be frank Farah jagged a lot of low-tier tests in the green and gold.

Woods is what he is - lumbering, difficult to bring down, commits big number of defenders, has an offload, makes big metres in big minutes, has a wrapping defensive style, fairly good with injuries. For this style of play he is the number one player in the game. You want someone a bit faster or tackle-breaking, a bit quicker off the deck, go buy Jesse Bromwich or James Graham or Fifita… oh wait they are the other top expensive props in the game. They all offer something a little different but all cost about the same money.

So for sure you could put Ava or Jesse or Grant or a kid like Felise and they'd probably do ok up front. But it's a huge drop from Woods.

Add to this, how poorly do we go when Woods is off the field!

Can front rowers really get paid $800k?

Klemmer reportedly got 700 k in his last contract , so with the increases in the cap $ 700 - 800 k for SOO and Australian props isn't out of the question

But I still reckon Moses will be close to a million with TPA's (if not more ), he is in a similar position to Tedesco when he signed his last contract

You don't want to take the risk of losing him Moses is past the potential stage and (touch wood ) rarely misses games

He's going to be spotted a lot more this year than he was last season, how he handles that should go a long way to make it clearer whether he deserves that kind of money.

woods $650k
moses $700k
brooks $550k
teddy $900k

that's if they want to be able to have better players playing with them.

Some fans on this forum have the attention span of a few femtoseconds
How quickly we forget that just a few years ago our best prop played only 50 minutes a game, was injured for at least half a season, and averaged 80 m per game :crazy
Woods is with J Bromwich the best prop in the game, and is certainly worth more than Klemmer, who isn't even the starting prop at the Puddles :deadhorse:

If we offered them your above figures bp, I would suggest we would lose all of them.
The figures they will be offered by the Tigers will also have thoughts in their minds of playing with better players. Not taking into account TPA's - figures should be around -

Woods $750k Max (Don't think any FR forward is worth more)
Moses $850k (worth every cent - stands out way above all the new comers, including Cleary)
Teddy $1.2k (Best FB in the NRL - attack and defence, you have to pay heaps for the best)
Brooks $650k (very slightest increase (on 600 now) - with provision for more if he improves)

I think Brooks will be a real good one - but if for some reason he doesn't want to stay - we have a great replacement in Littlejohn - I think he and Moses would complement each other just as well.
