Tigers $3.5m Roster Plan

If we locked up Moses and Tedesco up first , would anybody be happy for us just letting Brooks go to spend cash on other positions?

3.5 million seems like overkill. Yes these players are extremely important, but if it means we lose the likes of Simona and Nofa then would it really be worth it? I just hope that we have learnt from the mistakes of the past and can retain our core talent and will have enough to recruit in any areas that we are weak. Some TPAs from HT would go nicely right about now….

My thoughts:

Woods - $800k
Tedesco - $1 Million
Moses - $700k
Brooks - $500k

Save the extra 500k for Idris...I have a feeling he will get back to his best by the end of the year.

They will sign for under, because they want to play with their mates. I hope none of them were too close to Sironen, Cherrington, Lovett, Hoeter or any of the others that came through the juniors with them that we have decided to let go.

Nathan 'Renouf' Milone is still here..

How quickly we forget that just a few years ago our best prop played only 50 minutes a game, was injured for at least half a season, and averaged 80 m per game :crazy
Woods is with J Bromwich the best prop in the game, and is certainly worth more than Klemmer, who isn't even the starting prop at the Puddles :deadhorse:

Klemmer isn't a starting prop because they have him playing lock. Before that he wasn't a starting prop because they were using him in the impact role he is best at, not because he wasn't a "better" prop than Aiden Tolman.

The biggest advantage to having a pair of props like Tolman and Graham is that they can play long, quality minutes allowing the Dogs to use their bench props for shorter, high impact stints. We have a number of props that can play long, quality minutes but we don't really have any suited to the impact role off the bench and so we don't get the best out of Woods, Ava, Sue and Grant. Individually they are all fine but they are not an ideal combination for a prop rotation.

Felise will bring something different I think, hopefully he has an injury free year and sees plenty of first grade.

I'm thinking the breakdown is something like…

Teddy - $1.2 million
Moses - $800k
Woods - $800k
Brooks - $700k

Hoping Brooks plays for what he's worth this season.

Can front rowers really get paid $800k?

Klemmer reportedly got 700 k in his last contract , so with the increases in the cap $ 700 - 800 k for SOO and Australian props isn't out of the question

But I still reckon Moses will be close to a million with TPA's (if not more ), he is in a similar position to Tedesco when he signed his last contract

You don't want to take the risk of losing him Moses is past the potential stage and (touch wood ) rarely misses games

Good post and the final three words carry a lot of weight, with his durability thus far making Mitchell even more valuable. Expecting a lot more game time from Teddy as he has had terrible luck so far, though having his jaw crunched by James was being directly targeted for mine. It set another bad precedent and on top of the Farah drama, probably ended any reasonable hope for the season.

I think the club also needs to anticipate that Idris could be in for a big year. Halfway through the year we could be talking about how crucial his retention is.

Teddy & Sirro are very very close mates… But don't worry

Priorities

1.Teddy
2.Moses

I do not care about Brooks. He is lame. Brooks can be compensated by JLJ who is just as good and cheaper.

Woods - I wouldn't break the bank for him. He could be so much more. He is soft

Woods is far from soft. The fact that he doesn't need to play the "angry psycho bloke" further demonstrates this IMO. Apart from the god awful chick teenybopper headband he feels compelled to wear he is a hard nut. Can't remember him ever being shortened up in a tackle and struggling to get to his feet through pain. Opposition players may not fear him but I'd bet they sure respect his durability.
Prefer him over a "loose cannon" type like Waerea-Hargraves who is great at belting blokes high and late but only has 2 or 3 good games in him per season, if that. Woods is a gun.

He doesn't hurt when he hits and never has, he's a good Front Rower, ,he isn't a great one.
In attack he spends so much time fighting the tackle that there isn't much chance of anyone getting a quick run of his PTB, as he gives the defence so much time to reset.
He's good to have in the team. But we badly need a prop who the opposition does not like to see there.
So far he has been soft at times, but he's still pretty young and hopefully will get a bit harder.
As someone said earlier, he's married now , that should toughen him up and put a bit of anger in him lol

I agree with you on the PTB, he takes too much time, tries to milk penalties and doesn't get them often and we lose momentum.

Can you specify when he demonstrated he is soft? He may lack aggression but no way is he soft, you don't play prop in Origin and Tests if you are a pudding. Front rowers have been forced to evolve in the last decade, instead of being frothing psychopaths who tackle no lower than the nostrils they are now the chief metre-eaters and preferably have a classy offload in their arsenal…....in these 2 areas Woods is up there with the elite.
I can't really think of too many props in the NRL these days who put blind fear into their opponents with intimidation, it has been policed out of the game. The best 3 front rowers in the game today IMO are Bromwich, Woods and Scott and none of them are known for intimidating opponents through brutality.
