Tigers After Beau Scott

It says in today's tele in the league confidential on page 45 that the Tigers are are after Beau Scott from St George.

It says "Gareth Ellis's early departure from the Tigers will have a butterfly effect on St George Illawarra's hopes of keeping hard man utility Beau Scott beyond this year. Scott is already the Tigers No 1 target to replace Ellis in the back-row next year. The NSW origin ace has also attracted interest from Newcastle & Parramatta, but the Eels are now odd's-on to sign Rooster Jared Warea-Hargreaves."

What does everyone think? I think he could be a good signing.

Love his work ethic but doesnt have running impact Ellis does. But another Rep signing shouldn't be sneezed at,he's an intimidator.

Well he is definitely a backrower and not a centre - his performance last night was below par - however playing in closer he is a much better player.

I agree T4E, Good defender, but can't exploit holes or run lines like Ellis.

Unless we get Gallen (which we won't,) we are not going to find someone as good as Gareth unfortunately.

Not a huge fan of Beau Scott, I d rather develop a worker than buy a high profile one, Fulton can easily do as good a job a Beau Scott in the Short term and Santi can easily become that player long term.
If we are going to buy a high profile player he has to be able to do things others cant, that is not B Scott. In my pipe dream world, Id love Luke Lewis, but that is as likely a Julia Gillard winning Ralf swim suit model of the year

I am a fan of Beau Scott but he should only play as a forward.

No one is as good as Ellis.

Gallen and Lewis are great players but will not leave their respective clubs.

Alot will depend on how Moors and BMM set up this year.

Can young Sironen come into contention?

You hit the nail on the head Everett - the two guys you mentioned are the ONLY two players (positionally) you would consider his peers.
Really hope one of our young guys stands up - but you can't expect them to get to Ellis's standard overnight.
We need someone good to replace him - but whoever it is will fall short of his class.

I think he's overrated, and not all that cluey. No thanks.

Any player who gets outsmarted by Greg Inglis needs to have a serious look at himself…

How old is the guy?

Only asking because along with Ellis we are looking at the back end of Heighnos career as well. Scott seems a better fit to replace Chris when he retires

the pass to the cameraman last night summed him up for me. He shouldn't be allowed that close to the sidelines, keep him in the middle where he just has to tackle people and not make too many decisions in attack. Tough player, but no thanks.

Good point Smeg, he would be a good replacement for Heighno but we need someone more dynamic for Ellis. He is tough and can play but his attack isnt good enough. Fults supplies everything Scott could.

In all honesty he wasn't that close to the sideline, it was just a brain explosion.

Give him Chris Lawrences brain and Beau Scott would be the best centre in the game.

I really don't think we need to go onto the open market for any players at the moment.
We have enough good talent coming thru the junior ranks now to fill all positions.Tedesco is a classic example, then there's Miller, Koroibete, Santi,Lovett and Passi from the NYC. Grant, Simona,Chisolm, Moores and BMM from BRET. Agreed there not in the same class as Ellis yet, but given time with the right coaching and we are looking pretty good.
With Ellis going home some of them have got 12 months to prove themselves.

I wouldn't be opposed to having him in the backrow, the guy can tackle but out wide he's useless in attack, although having said that the Dragons are pretty predictable out wide, he would do a lot better running off Marshall and Farah. Depends what sort of money he's trying to get though…

While the Tigers have some excellent backrow prospects coming through the NYC, I think the likes of Lovett, Santi and Vela are all a couple of years away from FG. I'd really like to see BMM step up, but he really needs to get his involvement rate up and if that means losing 5kg to get fitter, so be it.

I totally concur…with what we wld pay for Scott ($400k as current SOO)we cld lock in 2 or even 3 of these young blokes. We'd also be wise to wait & see how Moltzen & Tedesco fare in critical positions before we pay big $$$ for yet another second rower
Scott is a solid performer ,no more no less,& certainly not in Ellis class, but not many are.
See how all these young fellas come on this season,& maybe one or more will be at least as good as Scott or maybe better
ATM,Scott s/b a very low priority

It will be interesting to watch young Jack Spencers development at lock for BRET this season

Not a fan…

Really disappointed Tariq Sims re-signed another 2-3 years with the Cowboys, he'd be the perfect replacement.
