Tigers Clean Out

His problem is that he would be the single worst outside back in the NRL. He offers nothing. No speed, no creativity, no size, **no safety under the high ball**, no power. Just bad.

Think you need to go back and watch a few games from earlier in the yr. He was very safe, i'd say that was one of his greatest strengths.

He let in a number of tries due to his high ball deficiencies.
I don't remember any.

Not bothered finding them - just watch highlights of games which Rowe played. Full match replays would be preferable to give insight into his poorness as a player though highlights would be siffucient if you dont have time. I can almost guarantee he let in a try a game - this discounts his knock ons and lack of meters gained, etc.

I can understand why they'd let Austin go. They've obviously been grooming Moses and Brooks as the long term halves for a couple yrs, so they probably don't really see a place for him and don't want to stand in his way should he get offered a starting spot elsewhere.

Huge risk to let Austin go

No one will touch Moltzen with a ten foot pole

I wonder if that's dinky di

He lost confidence in the knee so he is sitting out the season until 2015 ?? You big sook

Most of the blokes we are talking about letting go are probably on league minimum's so we won't be replacing them with superstars that for sure

Anyone who see us finishing much better in 2015 than we will in 2014 is kidding themselves

What the hell is this club doing , replacing fringe first graders with more fringe first graders , or our own NSW Cup players

It was madness signing Brown in the first place,he never looked good to me,and we probably paid overs to keep him,Luani would be on not much and Buchanan signed for 3 years so he could have been on anything back then.
As others have said, how can we be in cap trouble, something is seriously wrong there, compare our roster to easts, souths, canterbury, brisbane, manly and brisbane are still buying name players for next year.
Maybe we could do a swap with canberra,Austin for Wighton,Croker or even Branko Lee.

Bit harsh offering Rowe a release. The kid has been fine when given a chance. The others are no great loss. I had big wraps on Buchanan last yr, didn't think he was too far behind where Woods was when Woods made his debut, but he looks to have gone backwards at 100 miles per hr.

Fine??
- And you have the hide to bag Sean Meaney…..
3 Rowes wouldn't make a Meaney!!
You need to get out more!!

Just concerned that Mitch Moses is still too small. and having both he and Brooks together - hope they don't get smashed every week and end up spending more time on the sideline than on the field. Overall the backline seems small to me apart from Richards and Lawrence who both are not guaranteed to be in their current positions next year. Strengthening and conditioning coaches got a lot of work to do in the off season.

It's Crazy… I was looking through the ins' and outs' for next year...
Rival clubs were boasting the likes of your Milfords, Ennis, Hoffmans, etc etc... Our "only' ins were Matt Lodge and John Sila!!

Please, Meaney was one of the most average first graders to ever lace a boot. Rowe is a 20 yr old trying to find his feet. Not saying he's great, far from it. But he is what he is, a depth player. People expect far too much sometimes.

Nope….. He's Rubbish!!
Now your saying Meaney was a first grader..... When was he?
Hitchcox leaves Rowe for dead!!

Never. But he was also 5 or 6 yrs older then Rowe when he was playing. Rowe is still a baby, he could still develop into something decent under the right tutelage.

i really dont subscribe to this thinking. austin has proven himself to be a great 5/8 and i dont think a young guy's potential should rob him of his well earned spot.

let moses win the spot from him, dont just let austin go because of what may be. god, what else does the guy have to do?

remember it this way or not, but i thought beau ryan was the tigers' best player overall in 2012 and then they released him the following year. its just crazy and gives the impression that it doesnt matter how well you do at the tigers, if they want someone else youre gone.

who would want to work anywhere doing a great job wasnt rewarded?

and anyway, why is anyone talking "clean out"?! not long ago it was all about retaining the promising juniors and using what they already have and now after 312 injuries and the side doing badly at the back end of this year it is now all clean out?

the side showed early on this season (with brooks, tedesco, et al still being so green) they could mix it with the best. im just taking a step back and still believe they have the stocks, barring a quality centre (which austin himself could become).

It's a pretty easy one? We clearly have Brooks and Moses earmarked for long-term halves, maybe even starting next year.

Austin does not want to play #14 or be messed around in positions like centre. 2014 was about him getting back into firsts and showing his wares, he's done that, so other clubs are now sniffing around.

You don't keep a player who doesn't want to be there, it just doesn't work.

I personally feel Blake is ahead of Moses for 2015 and should start, with Moses being the utility / backup. Then we reassess Blake vs Moses for 2016.

It's a tough one, you can't have 3 good prospects happy with 2 open positions. That's how we picked up dudes like Taupau and Gavet, it spreads the talent around the comp.

I hope they are releasing these players to use that money to help retain Austin.

Can't see anyone going for Moltzen though, not in the NRL anyway.

And this shows he's a grub how exactly?

Randomly throwing an uppercut to a player who isn't even looking at him

I met the guy in person and he seems a very nice guy.DO I think hes worth 550k a season no but gee pacman how bout before you go calling nice guys grubs you have some REAL evidence hey.Calling someone a grub without merit is the act of a grub yes.

"The coaching staff has a job to do and that includes decisions about the playing roster.”

What coaching staff?
The only person who should be making decisions on the 2015 squad should be the 2015 head coach.

Saturday’s final-round clash against Cronulla is also expected to be the swan song for coach Mick Potter, who has not been offered a new deal and could finish the year with seven straight losses. Assistant coaches Todd Payten and David Kidwell are keen to replace him, but both are also off-contract from November 1.

Who is making these decisions?

Also I thought Kidwell signed for 2 years.

To release Austin would be madness. He's won the spot pure and simple. If Moses wants it, he can work for it.

Austin must start at 5/8 ahead of Moses next season. Moses is small and still learning. His chances will come during the season. You don't punt your best player . You reward them. It's not as if Blake is a veteran. He is only 23\. Let's hope this shambolic management does not burn it's fans once again. Anasta, Fulton, BMM, Mr t and Korebeti have all gone so there must be some money there. Austin should be a priority.

No dramas with those 5 players being told to look elsewhere. I would be disappointed if Austin left but the Raiders do have cash which does make a difference sometimes.

Blake Austin is so far ahead of Moses it's not funny. Moses hasn't shown anything yet to warrant being the starting 6 next year. Yes he was going well I n NYC and NSW cup but he was no means putting pressure on first grade.

Austin has shown time and time again he is an NRL standard 6
