I reckon JT should be punted now. He has had his chance and after 3 rounds we have the worst defence and we are leaking over 5 tries a game. The most worrying thing is that nothing has changed or improved from last year. I think its too late to wait till the end of the year. So i would punt him now, and Cleary would be my first choice. I would go further and put a deadline on Woods, Moses and Tedesco. I would withdraw our offer to Brooks and blood the youngsters this year. I would ensure we spent the money we have to re -build our squad. What option would you choose and why? I have purposely left hasler out (most likely to re-sign with dogs and we cant afford him) and Toovey is in England someone said.

It's all fine replacing Taylor, but the replacement isn't as simple as snapping a finger and saying "replace him with this guy". There'll be a process taken with candidates interviewed. It could be 2 months till we find the right coach. It's not something we should rush into.

Whats the difference between ''other'' & "caretaker"…and who is the caretaker?

Caretaker would be one of the current tigers assistant coaches. Other is any other coach not listed in the options.

I dont think we have 2 months. Players we want to keep and players who we are chasing will need to know who the coach is. Keeping the players we want and bringing in players we need is probably even more important than who the coach will be. We could miss the boat on these Players if we keep delaying this.

I honestly don't know the answer - but in no way would I be extending him.

If you told me Cleary was ready to go I would be happy enough.

Payton - no way.

You don't want to do a Manly and go out and get a rookie who is learning the ropes.

It is time to make bold decisions not do nothing and hope for a turnaround.A continuation of JT and his ludicrous selections has to be terminated. He has to go for the future of our club.
A new coach may not turn around our fortunes this year but at least the players should understand what will be happening in the future.Only coaches and not verbose wannabees should apply.

Agree with everything above. The only issue with player retention is the JT effect on players it's hard to gauge whether they are simply overrated, pea hearted or just giving up on him.

Not voting as I would keep him until round 6 (which is not a poll option).
Give him 3 more games.
If he can't get the team to play for 80 and tackle then get rid.

The only thing i know for sure is that people dont handle uncertainty very well, which is why waiting until later in the year to make a decision is ridiculous…

They have committed to Taylor for this long, I would like him to be given the chance to select his team rather than working with what he currently has. We have a very weak roster, that is not his fault...

I agree with Bigsiro. But would give him till round 12 (1st set of byes) and then if there has been not improvement, our chances for the 8 will be gone (except maybe mathematically), bring in a new coach.
No caretaker, whoever is appointed will be next years coach so that he can start to make decisions on players for next year.

We are in a good position for next year with Farah cap money to spend and barely anyone signed. By the looks of it we have dodged a bullet here by not having already extended bust 1 and bust 2\. Seriously if this was the NFL those two boys would be traded to the London Silly Nannies.

Farah money + those 2 I'm gonna say it's $2 million bucks to spend. Choosing not to re-sign Matt Ballin, Joel Edwards, Tim Grant, Watson Heleta, Justin Hunt, Jamal Idris, Kyle Lovett, Kevin Naiqama, Jordan Rankin as well, there's another $2 mill there probably (roughly 200k each player). So what does $4 million buy us on the open market? We need to replace the halves. So let's throw $450k or so at Tyrone Roberts. Shaun Nona, give him a min wage contract, good depth there. Ryley Jacks has looked okay at the Storm, give him a look in if they won't re-sign him. Oh Chad Townsend is off contract. Jordan Kahu too. That kid can play six and is a good goal kicker. Orrite so we're gonna sign Chad Townsend for like 650k, Jordan Kahu for 600k, Tyrone Roberts for 450k, re-sign Jack Littlejohn for $5 and we'll give Nona and Darren Nicholls reggies contracts for depth.

Oh what's that, the Storm have a ton of forwards off contract and so do the Roosters? Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Kane Evans, Felise Kaufusi and Aiden Guerra you say?

Catch my drift. We would be nuts to re-sign these idiots on anywhere near what they're asking for. We have a rare opportunity to do a full rebuild and if they want to be part of the fun they need to shut up and take what they're worth. Which right now for Brooks is probably $350k and Moses maybe $500k.

Cleary won't do any better than JT, he is a myth. Going for bargin basement will always equal to poor performances.

We need someone who has an established good performing history.

The new coach will have cash to spend and get the team within 2yrs that he wants.

Some interesting thoughts McDougall

The only bust we relocked into is Lawrence.

We have a genuine chance to build a proper squad here.

Do we have the smarts their and the clout to pull it off though ?

Yeah I think that if they're going to punt Taylor part way through the season they should appoint his replacement directly and not have a caretaker. Get them in and let them have a good look at the roster and make some decisions about who should be re-signed and who should be walked. Also let them have a say in who we pursue as signings.

I'd wake up in the middle of the night in cold sweats if we signed Tyrone Roberts, and for 450k at that. The rest sounds good, even if it is a bit of a pipe dream. The next 3 weeks are critical. If we only win one, or none at all, I think the club will act on players and coach. If they don't, they have a serious case of denial.

Sorry MT, not having a go at you but I disagree in regards to Cleary. I think he has had a tremendous run as coach. He took the Warriors to the GF and almost the Panthers. His last season at Penrith was riddled with injuries.

He was able to get the best out of "duds", Luke Walsh became a solid player under him. Mose Masoe was rocks and diamonds until he played at Penrith. Another that comes to mind is Jamie Soward that everyone thought was finished.

I'm not old enough to remember what he did at Warriors but he was the one who identified Maloney as a talent. He also got the best out of Johnson.

Tyrone Roberts has had a lot more passable first grade games than Luke Brooks. He is put simply a better halfback than Luke Brooks. Let that sink in. And then consider that we're being held to ransom expecting to pay this guy what, 7-800k? A guy who is no better than Tyrone Roberts wants us to pay him $800k?

Seriously, it's called trading down. Roberts totally sucks but if I can get someone to fill the same hole as Luke Brooks, lose nothing for it and then save some money to spend on a backrower like Kaufusi or something. I am doing it every time.

But they all have the same manager and he is shopping them as a package. To be blunt, Luke Brooks is better off elsewhere. He has stagnated here and needs new looks. Nobody is going to pay him more than we are but if his manager cared for him he'd be advising him to go anyway.

Warren Smith had some strong words in the fox coverage end of game he was of opinion Taylor deserves another year basically because of the salary cap mess he inherited and deserves that year to his own resources. Also said tigers should go for two of the big four and said Moses and Brooks defensive liability.
