Wests Tigers NRL centre Chris Lawrence expects to be sidelined for six weeks with an ankle injury.

Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence has confirmed his ankle injury is worse than first thought with the NRL star expecting to be out for six weeks, as the fallout continues from the club's nightmare loss to North Queensland on Monday night.

Lawrence was expected to miss about a month of action but, on Wednesday, said on his Twitter account that his stay on the sidelines could be longer.

"Looks like I will be spending the next 6 weeks on the sidelines. Now to put my head down and focus on rehab to get back sooner," he said.

Lawrence was unable to finish the 29-16 loss to the Cowboys and star No.7 Benji Marshall is in doubt for Sunday's clash with South Sydney after suffering toe and thumb injuries in the Townsville match.

The Tigers also lost five-eighth Curtis Sironen for the season with a shoulder injury, Ben Murdoch-Masila (up to two weeks with a rolled ankle) and Matt Groat (U20s, broken thumb).

The Tigers additionally lost fullback Tim Moltzen for a couple of weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury in the warm-up.
The injuries come a fortnight after dual-international winger Lote Tuqiri was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a broken arm, while the Tigers are also not expecting prop Keith Galloway to return until the round-23 clash with St George Illawarra.

Great :unamused: I think our season is over 😢

these 6 weeks will shape the next few years… it will tell you everything about what is going on at the club imo.

top 8 or no top 8.. the club has made this season a failure, not moderately but severely.. who's gonna take the blame?

He was just starting to get it together as well.

The season isn't over so I'm not going to call it a failure but there have been a lot of disappointments.

Gee I just don't see where any line breaks are going to come from

Lets bring some of the young brigade through and see what happens

The good thing about the young fellas is that the NRL sides don't know the strengths and weaknesses of the young talent and that is a definite plus for us
