We will still have $1mill for 2015\. All well and good wanting to sign a half and big forwards a week before preseason, but have a look at the players off contract, noone worth it. Brown is signed as a centre.

Whether he is a centre /winger isn't the issue

Another fringe signing , players are staying away because they don't want to come within 100 miles of the crap with the board , the money issues and a side that finished 15th and were only saved by a woeful Parra side from a wooden spoon

And the coach.

What makes you think because we have money to burn in 2015 that players like Russell Packer..who would have been a great buy will come to this club.
Even worse how are we going to hold onto our young players coming off contract in 2014 when clubs like Manly Canterbury and Roosters can offer them so much more.
The entire recruitment structure needs to change…it's pretty much more of the same stuff as when Sheens was here..buying fringe first grade players no one else wants.

LMAOO u do realise we have to build a SQUAD

And signing a guy who has played one game in a Western Force Second 15 will make a huge difference with the outside backs we have coming through

The last thing we need is wingers

We need a half decent 6 for the next 18 months and some hard running defensive machines as second rowers

That would be building our squad , wouldn't it ??

there are squads from nyc to state cup.

when we take players such as nofo, koro etc. from state cup teams who's gonna fill their spots?

we already have our nrl squad of 33 players.. forget about signing any half decent players anymore. the 33 players u see on the website is who we will see next year.

as for ur 5/8 and second rowers.. we're spending time and money on the young players rather than buying new ones. that's why experienced players like halatau, paterson and richards are signed- so that we have some experience along with youth.

give them a break ffs. srsly whinging about a state cup signing who u've mostly likely never even seen.

Wow.. seriously we would have to have the worst recruitment in the NRL. lol John Grant he was going to be a superstar pages and pages on John Grant. Will we hear the same spin on this guy.
What about that other one last year Jennings…was injured all year.

ok who did u expect us to sign? throw us some names please

How about hanging on to our money for the future

On the other hand we could buy someone of the calibre of Adam Blair who cost the club big money and hardly fired in the first two years of his contract. This fellow is not costing the club very much at all and may well be a very handy player. Everybody brought by the club deserves a chance. Hope and encouragement is better than unfounded pessimism.

If you listen to mayer instead of signing your dream team with your imaginary cheque book you would of known 3 months ago that we haven't and won't be approaching big name players for 2014\. Would have saved yourself time.

Everyone wants to whinge that the club isn't "attractive" for players. Yet want to stick the boot in to blokes who haven't even played a game for us yet. Gee i'm sure they'd love to bust a gut for Tigers fans.

And this "saving money"? It's not a piggy bank. We have big money for 2015\. Remove the chip from your shoulders and give the new management team a chance.

The whole recruitment team did change. I don't know how people are surprised at the signings. Mayer made it clear 3 months ago.

…. And that's the way it will stay until such time as there are structural changes to the way the organisation operates. The other issue for prospective players to consider is the coach they will be playing under. Will their careers be enhanced playing under Potter ?

Not at this stage, but he was the only one willing to take on the job with the money we could afford, after the farce that was Sheens' extension then sacking left us skint

So which is it Happy?? First you say we need decent 6 and defensive backrowers, then you say the fact Corey is a winger/centre isnt the issue.

For the record, we dont need defensive machine backrowers, we have Fulton and Farah who rack up enormous numbers leaving the coach with the ability to name some size and strikepower in 2013 with some outside additions and the emergence of young talent in Sirro, BMM and Sue. As for a decent 5/8, well the club went and signed the best option on the market in Austin, cant do any more than sign the best available option.

Its clear there's an element looking for a negative in everything the club does, i'd hate to live my life so pessimistic. All is not rosy, and yes you have to be realistic, but seriously, arnt you tired of being so negative about everything? You used to be one of the positive posters.

I'd like to see the club stop announcing these signings so we can then see complaints about not being told the news. There will always be someting to complain about if you keep looking, just like there will always be a positive if you look for it

I think that this guy is a NSW Cup centre. Just in case something happens it will be amazing to have him rather than i dunno, lote or utai to go to wing and richards/nofo to come into centre. I'd much rather this guy to slot in. (i know lote/utai are gone).

5/8 has been sorted for 2014 imo, we are not going to suddenly become a top 4 side before our defence picks up so with Moses coming in we don't need to sign some amazing 6 for 1 year which is hard to do obviously. We need a fill in to guide Brooks through 2014 and then leave the club or retire as Moses comes into 1st grade in 2014-15\. That is exactly what austin, moltzen and anasta will achieve i hope.

not to mention the difficulty of recruiting top class players to a **** show like our club last season.

Firstly KS I said hard running defensive machines , I would much prefer Robbie's tackle count drop so it doesn't curb his creativeness with the inexperience outside him we will need him fresh

How many wingers do we need KS and why do we need to take risks on blokes who have limited league experience

We have experimented with a fair few rugby converts , none who have been very successful

As for my being negative , the club at every turn seems to take the wrong option (maybe not the best option ) especially in the player retention recruitment department There must be a reason we aren't even attracting even solid players on the players market When you are at the stage when you have to sign players who were previously at the club things aren't good

I'm not going to post and BS that everything is rosy at the Tigers when clearly is not

As I clearly say quite often I can see a bright future IF we surround the youngsters coming through with the right players We don't seem to be doing that in my opinion

And also as I have said previously , would a club like Manly ,Souths ,Roosters look at our 2014 signings and be excited ??

No way in hell , would they be , they would be up in arms going "What the hell has happened with our recruiting "

Happy, clubs like Manly, Souths and to a lesser extent Roosters, are not likely to be in front of Wests Tigers come 2015\. You have to sow before you harvest. The ex-Tigers players coming back to the club will provide in 2014 the experience and composure for the younger players to come into their own in 2015

Manly always find a way Newtown

But we still need to find the RIGHT players to surround these blokes with

Buying a winger and a utility player who will play limited minutes aren't a step in the right direction in my opinion

How many of the 2014 signings are guaranteed spots in the Top 17 Having depth is great , but if your top 17 doesn't improve you will go backwards

The only bloke that is 100% guaranteed a spot is Richards and that is because he is the No 1 goalkicker

You recruit at all levels. Its as simple as that.

When we sign a fringe back it doesn't mean we aren't looking to fill other positions.

This signing looks like a classic McDonnell signing…someone no one wants or has heard about promoted as the next NRL superstar.

Incorrect…Wests Tigers always recruit at the same level. Players no one else wants or has heard about or are over 30.

Blake Austin, Dene Halatau, Keith Lulia,Cory Paterson, Pat Richards, Martin Taupau, Yileen Gordon and Corey Brown all look the same level to me.

Of course its incorrect, the sky is always falling and the worlds about to end. Sack the lot of them etc.

Mate..just saying recruitment is not up to the same level as other clubs and that should be very obvious to you.

It's time for a complete overhaul in this area and not just a patch up with the coach and CEO recruiting.

We have changed coaches and players we need to change recruitment appointments and strategies .

Manly recruit no-names too…as do they all

What about the second rower they recruited from Parramatta and played for them in first grade throughout the year. his name escapes me.

Brenton Lawrence?
One **extraordinary** player there

People were talking about him in similar tones to the way they talked about Simona & Nofo
