Why would any club take him. His body is done.

Ivan should take him ..
We get Maloney ..
Benji retires !

I could handle that. Maloney is full of mistakes though, I could just imagine the drubbing he would get on here after a couple of losses. Rocks and Diamonds they’d shout.

He makes mistakes sure , but he’s better than what we currently have and he’s a proven match winner .
Marshall sucks ( one more year lol)
If there’s no takers for Reynolds he must be given another chance as he’s better than Marshall .
..the West’s Tigers basket case rolls on lol

Reynolds is at best a bench player. Unless you have 2014 repeats on your TV.

Well we’re closer to 2014 as to 2005 if you want to keep going backwards .

Fair point but Marshall has outperformed Reynolds and has been available for two straight years. It’s unfortunate but if you can’t beat out an ageing player you gotta go.

I’d still prefer a fit Reynolds over a fit Marshall any day of the week but apparently the coach sees otherwise ..
But then again the coach signed Jennings ....go figure!

No doubt a fit Reynolds would have been ideal. Reality is he’s been injured for 3 years including the last year of his dogs contract. The coach is unwinding some very bad roster decisions made by Cleary. Jennings was signed with spare change after our cap penalty problem we have is Wary paid massive overs for ageing players.

50 cents is too much spare change for Jennings..yes we are hamstrung with contracts but we still need to be smarter with what little we have

I'm glad that the club is getting the broom out and trying to rid it's self of these over payed has beens.

.......... The meeting came after veteran playmaker Benji Marshall strongly indicated to the club that he will run around again in 2020.............

@happy_tiger
yes Great fit Reynolds to the Titans. he has got enough free money from us we must change this culture of signing players after they do ok, lets retain the quality juniors who can sign longer term contracts, younger and longer and cheaper, but these days contracts mean nothing as soon as a good young talent comes along roosters steal at double price.. contracts mean zero

For the record, Madge hasn't officially said anything about benji or Reynolds all random tabloid speculation at this point. They've been saying Reynolds head was on the chopping block for months, yet that wasn't the case then. It may be now, may not be too ...

The story about Reynolds was on nrl.com so not really "tabloid" TBF.

Its Fox/News ltd so i consider it to be tabloid trash

I don't know who would invest anything in Reynolds as a player atm. He has offered next to nothing in three years - even $300k is ridiculous money for enthusiasm. He has been popping up on the media lately, opportunity in other areas is our best bet in moving him on. But at the money we are paying him cant see him going anywhere.

Good to see us planning for the future. Benji is a 1 year plan, then what?

We have already written off the next year or 2

Tbf, if Reynolds stays, he'll only have one year left after Benji, and who knows if he'd even be fit. So we'd have two one year plans as opposed to one one year plan.

@hobbo1 I would offer a good 2 yr contract to Maloney .. he pretty much ticks all the boxes for what is missing in the team ATM..a winner ...a goal kicker .. calm under pressure ... can clutch play and still has the body to compete each week . This is a no brainer to be honest , that leaves the club 2 seasons to find another long term replacement.. Benji plays reserves and fills in when needed . But as with all decisions this club makes Benji will be the first priority unfortunately!

Imagine if we were told during 2017, during the whole fiasco of the big 4 that Benji would return on what would essentially be a 3 year contract. Boggles the mind.

By all reports Maloney isn't a fan of our club.

Next....

Reynolds is made of glass, if another club (not Canterbury) are prepared to pick up half of his contract it would be a good move for West Tigers.
I don't know what club would be interested however?

Our only hope is England. I'm sure his hammies would love that.

@GNR4LIFE if Maloney wants to stay in Sydney he has limited options , it’s amazing how circumstances change as we get older with limited opportunities . These are the situations where the new employees in the football dept will show if there any good or not ! Maloney is the consummate professional ..he has a family to look after !

That's harsh , probably barring Liddle and Thompson he has been our most dangerous player

As long as only one goes around again we can probably live with it

Have heard Robbie's neck and back problems will finish him off in 2019

We would have to sign a couple of forwards before Maloney would even consider coming to us. He is not going to want to play behind a pack with no go forward. Look at the packs he has played behind Warriors, Roosters Sharks and Penrith all great forward strength.

Agree with that. Maloney has taken teams to the next level when he's joined them.

Highly unlikely Maloney would leave Penrith a year early to come and play at WT. If Maloney is still in the NRL next year, it will be at the Panthers.

I think the club has done the best they can with Josh. Even if they have to pay 400k per year of his contract they can still pick up someone on 350 to 400k who has some output. If Reynolds was a young guy on the way up it would be madness to move him on, but at 30 years of age ( not that i think that is old) and the last 3 years of his career being riddled with injury, well lets just say not to many people improve physically when they move into their 30's in rugby league.
