Much better effort tonight - boys really had a dig.
Anyone who says Madge has lost the sheds doesn’t know footy. They responded to him amazingly.
Here’s the thing - this commitment last week and we get 2 points. Bloody frustrating.
Also, ref did not cost us this game: unforced errors cost us - usual problem
Packer also cost us. Poor lateral movement led to try, 10 minutes in bin and a penalty goal from a head shot. Players should call him out - terrible effort from him.

Need to score more than 6 points to have a chance to win a game, we had our opportunities but just couldn't create anything. AD is growing on me though, I was critical of his signing, I'd like to see a player trailing on his inside as he goes through the line with his footwork.

Gotta day I’m losing faith in Mbye in attack. Couple of chances tonight and just went to ground

We certainly showed some grit in defence tonight, which was a big improvement. Also they ran hard, even though it was often a little one out. Taking the ball up together with a few runners at least puts the opposition defenders in two minds and reduces the numbers they can put into the tackle.
The way I saw it, we paid a high price for a few dumb errors, plus there were some really poor refereeing calls that cost us.

Packer in particular was ill disciplined and looked slow and cumbersome at times (especially in D). Seyfarth added nothing also. Both should be replaced in the 17 next week.
There was a period after the 60 minute mark where Grant looked shot and made a couple of errors - the same thing happened last week, so obviously he is still building up to an 80 minute game. AD is improving each week. Aloiai and Luc also made some good runs. I thought Talau did OK with little opportunity and should hold his spot.

It is hard to say whether Benji might have offered more in attack especially behind the forward pack playing better tonight. Maybe Garner may have added some spark as well. We really need a couple of guys who can slip a ball away or get a few offloads to create second phase play as at the moment our forwards are pretty one dimensional.
If we played with that intensity last week we would have smashed the GC - the question is can we keep that up every week and build some attack around it?

U cannot win games playing one out football, not sure what the hell maguire is up to but this just taking one out hits around the ruck is not going to win u many games.

That reason is there is not a dynamic 1/2 all I hear is Brooks is a running 1/2 well I totally disagree . we have seen the difference Grant has made , imagine the same thing at 1/2 . If the coach does not move on Brooks he is going to have a real problem !

I turned the game off with about 10 to go, Can I ask what happened to Lucy?

He hobbled off the field. Limping. Leg or ankle or foot injury. Likely to miss some time.

Innocuous injury mechanism for Luciano Leilua, left ankle does appear to roll in here (already seemed somewhat hobbled). Video not fantastic but concern for lateral ankle sprain (usually looks worse than it is), but w inability to weight bear potential for Jones/fibula fracture

If Leilua escapes with a lateral ankle sprain usually 1-4 weeks. But inability to weight bear brings greatest concern (although pain tolerance levels subjective/differ from person to person). If fractured 6-12 week usual recovery range

Damn. I rate Lucy.

It's hard, our centres are not getting any clean ball, we really aren't getting clean ball wider than our halves. We got ball wide to AD which led to the Nofa close try, but I don't recall too many other times. Our best plays the last couple of years has been our halves hitting short balls to our wide running 2nd rowers, that is just about non existent now. Brooks hit Lucy once and he nearly scored.

I'm so sure a Raiders player dived down at his legs.

Though we didn't get the results, thought some things looked more promising for us.
Our first half was impressive and despite our decline in that second half, thought we defended very well.
Doueihi looks better each game. But our spine still aren't playing with any cohesiveness - thought Harry Grant and Brooks both suffered from (those repeat) defensive sets - but then again our forwards weren't doing too good at that time. I honestly believe our bench rotation is letting us down a little bit.

Might be a contentious opinion but I don't think Brooks needs to be dropped altogether. Play him at 5/8 until he gains the required confidence and ability to lead the team around. I just don't think it's as simple as him not having it in him but feel it's more his development has been restricted due to having no less than 4 coaches and an ever-shifting team of players around him.

Edit: I just think with this particular game our defensive efforts took too much away from our attacking game.

I don't know what was more disappointing, that our defensive effort would have won us the game most weeks or that if we played Talau last week we'd have beat the Titans...

We need to consider the quality of the opposition before going completely off. We lifted for this game and some credit should be given. Many have the Raiders as premiership contenders no one has us in the picture.

Was worried about Talau, but he went well & would leave him on the wing, played well.

Yeah special mention to Talau...tough team to play ..Raiders thew a bit at him...stood tall..

You are right but I also think that the time of excuses is over. If you don’t perform then you can sit on the bench and not perform.

Let's be honest here, the Raiders were a smidgen off winning the Grand Final last year and we are a team waiting for 2021 to spend a huge chunk of cap. I thought that was an outstanding effort from our lads in defense. Reynolds opened up our right hand side a bit more, but you have to feel a little bit sorry for Brooks working with that left hand side in attack!
Make no mistakes Madge will be on the lookout for a quality number 7 which I feel is what we have been lacking. Keep Brooks who will be outstanding with an actual 7 - he has been missing this his whole career. Watch him shine.
