Tim Sheens Must be Retained

Bennet was coach at the Broncos for over 20 years, and they were a consistent team while being the only team worth playing for for a long time up in QLD. He set up everything the Broncos had. Now Sheens has been at our club for a fair while, we have good juniors coming through our feeder clubs, big name players actually are starting to want to play at our club, and I honestly think we are on the verge of becoming a consistent finals bound club for quite a few years. To get rid of Sheens now would undo everything and we will revert to being a close to foot of the ladder team.

Are you kidding me? The players don't have fear of Tim Sheens. Except for our big guns, everyone has a threat of losing their spots, so they gain fear instantly. I agree with what Willow said before about extending it for 2012, if we make finals this year and next year.

Why does everyone keep saying that the players don't fear him? I would not want to play for a coach I feared - I want to play for a coach I respect and that respects and can develop me!

I just wait for the day Sheens silouette fades into the distant never to be seen again this team needs new direction and ideas I don't care what he does be gone!

if he didn't completely panic and shuffle players around after an injury, rather than bringing up people from lower grades….then a lot of people wouldn't have too much of a problem with him

It's funny because I think his coaching style reflects the teams playing style of the past… Rocks and diamonds.

His team selections, coaching style and management of the team during injury are either strokes of brilliance or shockers.

I will credit him that he is a great spotter and developer of talent. Clearly if players don't get a leg up into the big time when we think they should, they're not ready.

That said, I like the guy but I am still a doubter and if the team doesn't make the top four I will be disappointed. We're third place and playing nowhere near to the best of our ability which either means we're obviously a much better unit than previous seasons or the competition is really as bad as we all think it is this year. Theoretically we should hit our straps soon and come close to taking out the minor premiership.

I think knuckle is turning into a rebel….(last week a LO // CSG home semi thread - this week sheens should be retained thread) someone else may be needed to be the face of the WOM's.

I expect a ''too much orange'' thread next week.

Knuckles I think you have a point there, and I like the fact that you've had the balls to come out and make this thread, as everybody on this site is anti-sheens (ron especially). I know we've missed the finals four years in a row now, but I think he's picked up some really good young talent this year, and this talent-spotting has paid dividends in many aspects. He's really persisted with young Lui and look how much better he is now than he was last year. Moors as well, I didn't think he had much impact off the bench at the start of the year, now he's one of the better members in our pack. Fifita, he could of gone straight to NSW cup to find some fowards, instead he found this young Fifita guy, in a couple of years, he'll be a rep player.

His talent spotting has paid dividends thus far, though your right we haven't made the finals yet.

Sheens did not spot the Fifita brothers though. They actually approached the Roosters and were turned away and then had interest from the Raiders, Sharks and Tigers before settling with us.

There are those who will never be pleased….

this is true, but they'd be in the minority…..more so than they are now

Now based on the team selected for the Cowboys.........just reiterating what I said about bringing people up from the lower grades.......I didn't mean players passed their used by date.... it's team selections like that that keeps the anti-sheens stuff alive and well....

The board should wait until next year before making a decision. That is unless we do not make the finals this year. Then he should get the boot at the end of this year.
