Tim Sheens Must be Retained

Junior Moors is the unknown now?

They played in the same side last week and Moors was infinatley superior

Wasn't referring to Moors. Would prefer Moors over Skando, however, I would take Skando over a player out of NSW Cup who has never played FG.

Poorly worded post.

Fair enough.

The problem as I see it with that theory is that it is of no benefit to this club to play Skando. I could almost understand it last year considering the level of injurie in the forwards. However we would have been far better served to blood a younger prop and get his career rolling. A prop who could be useful for many years to come who would cost no more than Skandalis to play in terms of salary cap.

Too often we fall back to the safe option like recruiting Fitzhenry and playing Skandalis and it is a backward step for mine.

This is not a judgement on any players ability but if the club has no better options than Skando than our entire recruitment process needs an overhaul

I see your point. The coaching staff are well to attached to the likes of Skando and Fitzy and it's detrimental to the club at times.

That said, I still want to see him have a great game if he does take the field tonight.

I wish anyone who runs out for us to play the best game they ever have every single week

Do you see the naming of Skando this week as a step forward for the club, team squad….or a step back?

I certainly don't see it as a step backward …... I'll put it to you that way. At least we know Skando will play with heart, mind and soul ........... he went Ok last year when he was called up when things were getting desperate. I'll back him to go ok again this time ....... thats if he gets a game.

But things aren't desperate at these times. We have Moors who's playing in the NSW cup who duely deserves to be apart of the team tonight. Skando will forever be known as one of the legends at the Tigers, a bloke who scored our first ever try as a merged entity, but he's 34 now or something like that. We cant keep going back to him for a short stop solution, surely we have some front rowers that can step up! It's not a backwards step in that sense, but in a sense that Sheens doesn't trust the players he's signed to do the job, that he needs to go to Skando to play a few games… We have to look forward

Point taken EOWT …..... and I have read the state cup match report re Moors. By all accounts he had a blinder. But there is a massivve difference between state cup and NRL standard. Junior Moors does make a lot of mistakes with the ball and that may be a reason Tim has gone back to Skando. We can't keep turning over the ball otherwise the forwards just get worn out like when we lost 4 in a row earler in the year. Since then Tim has gone to a more no frills style of play with the odd flash of brilliance ....... but the emphasis is now on defense more so than attack. Maybe Tim views Skando as a safer conveyance and he's not convinced Moors is up to the pressure cooker environment of first grade. just yet.

All I can say if Skando and Fitzy can make our top 17, we must have a hell of a lot of rubbish on our books in the lower grades or the powers to be have it all wrong–My guess its the second option

Why are people knocking Skandalis? He isn't too old to play first grade. He is the same age as Civoniceva. Also Skando spent some time in the English Super League (which isn't as hard as the NRL) and has had more of a rest over the last 2 years than Civoniceva. Skando will do the job consistantly like always. He went well last year when he was called upon. If Fifita and Ellis are both out then I think both Skando and Moors should be on the interchange. Sheens probably sees Moors as more of a second rower instead of front rower anyway. I would rather Moors on the interchange instead of Fitzhenry.

It would be silly to extend Sheens' contract right now. We already have him signed for next year. A decision about extending his contract shouldn't be made until the off-season at the earliest.

Skando didn't let the team down in any way shape or form. I applaud Tim on his selection. I also applaud him for not rushing Lui back in to first grade. It was good to ease him back in via second grade rather than throwing him in against the worlds best half back ….... another coach may have just thrown him in with a sink or swim mentality.

I agree with u about Lui, he definatley needed to come back thru the lower grades, but cant agree about Skando. He shouldnt be in the side ahead of some other players.

Sheens said .I just want an old head to play…. and thats why he chose Skando...He also said that Skando will not stop any of the younger players playing first grade ....

Sheens does not rush younger player unless he has no other choice he brings them up a few weeks and than puts them down again to help them with the pressure of playing first grade ......

He has also said before that if a player comes to first grade and has a bad game it can set them back in there progress he is a very smart man with younger players

There is just one thing with sheens that i dont like ....I dont know how Arana was let go to the Cowboys and colud not get a spot in first before Fitzy not even one or two games just to test him with his speed out of dummy half would have been so dangrous and in open space or man on man would beat most players can play centre five eight hooker winger and maybe even fullback if he had to so much talent

More so than other players thats very strange to me and i like Sheens very much but that one i did not under stand Arana can win you a game the others carnt but i am not the coach

Regan - If you get a chance to get down to the fan day, maybe ask Tim that question. He did come to us with baggage ….. maybe that was a reason when push came to shove that he let him go. I guess none of us know the real goings on in the club.

Be interesting to see if Tim can sign another marquee player for next season. Signing Ellis and Lote in the last two years have been nothing short of a masterstroke. Wonder if he can snare another player of their ilk ..... only time will tell.

Well there was that famous "one marquee signing each year" that he came out with (think I remember that correctly?). But how much room could we have under the cap?

More Like 1 Rep standard player…...

Mystery Prop????

They're in talks with McKinnon… He could be the third signing? A few years back he was in devastating form and despite this has been forced out of two clubs due to being considered "second tier" compared to Luke Burt and Lance Hohaia. With some regular first grade appearances he could easily get back to that form. It would be great not to wince at the fullback selections every Tuesday and have a first grade standard fullback there every week, especially one who'd is one of the best support players in the NRL.

If Parra held onto him, god knows how devastating their backline could be with Hayne and McKinnon in the same team, depending on Hayne wanting to show up for more than ten minutes a game obviously...
