I just dont understand how bashing someone on the street, your partner or drug related incidents are not deemed as severe when we talk about the integrity of the game.
It is severe away from the footy field. Let's face it, if you're an average Joe and you get busted in possession of coke, unless your employer trawls the NSW courts site they're not going to know you fronted up to court if you take an annual leave day to address it and you escape gaol time.
The other two I will concede you'll have a hard time keeping from your employer especially when you ring them to let them know you won't be in on Monday because you've just been gaoled for two years.
That all being said, they are incidents that happen away from the field, outside the jurisdiction of the NRL.
Gambling by players on games contravenes NRL policy and affects the direct outcome of the games.
Letting wifebashers and drug dealers/users into the game is a poor look, but it doesn't compromise the game itself.
