Did you all miss the fact that the tigers are turning their attention towards akuila uate ? Good or bad move ?

Maybe i read it wrong, but i read it as it was the Raiders who were turning their attention to Uate.

**The author makes it sound like the tigers are resigned fo to fact that austin is leaving** and are now focued on signing Uate. However, this is the first I've heard of a link to Uate so it could be true that they were refering to Canberra. Either way, it's a poorly written article.

I very much doubt that as he's under contract and it would be their decision to let him go. They don't have to feel resigned

**Austin only wants to stay with the promise of starting at five-eight in 2015\. The tigers want to keep him as a squad player. They don't want to lose him but they know his more than likely going to move on because they cant keep that promise and don't want to stand in the way of his career.\

Just been edited on fox sports news that Austin is set to sign a multi year deal with the raiders.
Would be a real bummer if he moves on

We can't let austin go a contract works 2 ways I would be livid if tigers let him even think of leaving. We signed him cheap nobody wanted him and now he wants out. SORRY MATE you signed for 2 years. If he was playing shit or out for a season with injury could we say don't want u not paying your signed contract. Matai wanted out manly said NO

I was under the impression Austin was here for next season after that he was free to go …so much for contractual agreements....

Like many Tigers players of the past you wish you could combine their skills

Like giving all Tigers players Fulton tackling or Bryce's line speed in defence or Payten's ball skills

I wish Moses had Austins running game and size and wish Austin had Brooks passing game

And I wish they all had Matt Ballin's ability to play 180 odd games straight without missing one

Nice one. I used to wish for Liam Galatau - tackling of Fulton, size of Galloway and direct running of Halatau.

This is an easy one - Sorry boyo you're staying. He was on the scrap heap at Penrith, WE took the gamble and gave him a lifeline with a TWO year deal
Competition for spots is what drives teams to higher performances. We CANT let players determine where they play - coach decides
He has done well this year and I wouldn't have a problem upgrading his contract for next year and even negotiate a one year extension now as well

For what it is worth and probably not not…..
On twitter about an hour ago.....
@gcmayer: Austin on contract until end of 2015\. Coaching staff have confirmed he is part of their plans for next season.

I would of added a touch more

Liam Galataudwytui (he's Welsh obviously )

Dwyer's hitting in defence and Taniela for his palm and speed

And then we clone 24 more of them

And just pray that what's happen in the movie Multiplicity doesn't occur

I would rather see him go than to linger behind a player, Moses, who is earmarked to be the 5/8th and will be given plenty of time, probably a whole season like Brooks, to make the 5/8th his position.

That is in no way going to be a competition for position. Why waste his career lingering at the sidelines. I am selfish, but im not that selfish. We can buy another utility that will fill a void momentarily.

I know I am old fashioned but I feel a contracts a contract and it should work both ways

He happily signed a two year deal with us when he couldn't get a run anywhere else- he knew what he was doing and who was here

Who can we get as a utility that is as good as he has played this year- no one

_Posted using RoarFEED V.4_

Digging your heals in is a position, but it would be unfair of us not to let Austin expand. We just cant give that to him and it would be a travesty to hold him back behind Moses.

As for another utility as good as him. You would have a hard time.

I love our team but I love the game.

Ok so let's go the way of no contracts, we let people come and go as they please depending upon whether or not they get everything they want and if, heaven forbid, someone else is getting first dib on what YOU want then don't dig in just move on.

In a related but separate note , again I personally think it is crapola of the highest order that, from what I hear, three separate clubs have approached a CONTRACTED player for 2015 in the last 8 weeks enticing him to break a contract. BS

Well you would have to put it in perspective surely. Of course you have contracts, but you also have compassion. Like when a player needs to be near their kids in another state

In Austins case, it is because tigers will more than likely hinder his career going forward. Now you can dig your heals in and knowingly allow that to happen or you can have a compassion and allow him to move on.

You and I will have to agree to disagree.

Absolutley agree squid, you can't just be black and white in these decisions because you effect other players, future players, your standing in the game etc. If Austin is second choice in the halves and he is long term then keeping him here to play reserve grade when he could is offered a heap of money and multiple years would not be the right way to go. He might well stay but he deserves the opportunity to do whats best for his career and family

There are some strange views being expressed in this thread. Austin has a contract for next year with Weststigers. Weststigers offered him a two year contract, taking a risk on some aspects of him playing for us, not the least of which was whether he would perform successfully at NRL level. The fact that he has performed well, and now allegedly wants to move to Canberra next year to play 5/8 seems to some to open the Tigers to some moral obligation to let him go. I reckon that is rubbish. We took a risk on him; he needs to see the second year through with us, and if he wants to go to Canberra after that then so be it. I cant imagine that this is actually what is going on - sounds as if the reporting of this has got confused - as usual.
